Catrice Ultimate Stay Lipstick ($7.99) should be added to your shopping list if you’re looking for a pigmented satiny-matte that’s pigmented and crazy inexpensive! Hello, under eight bucks means you can haul several shades without breaking the bank.

Here’s my thoughts on this rather fab lipstick!

You gotta love Catrice Cosmetics! They never fail to produce some really great, affordable products that keep you coming back for more. Every since Catrice has launched in the US exclusively at Ulta, I’ve been slowly working my way through their vast catalog of inexpensive, budget friendly makeup pieces and loving everything I’ve tried.

Catrice Ultimate Stay Lipstick is no different. These slick black barrel lipsticks look like you paid $20 bucks for ’em but they’ll set you back a mere $7.99 each. Catrice has them available in 12 gorgeous shades. Each shade is 0.10 oz in size and has absolutely no flavor or fragrance.

At first application these are a little dense but with continued use you’ll find the formula applies much, much smoother. The first time I tried them the texture was a bit draggy but as they warm up you’ll find the consistency is lighter and much creamier. The satiny-matte formula isn’t hydrating nor drying and has a light feel on lips with a smooth, even finish and excellent pigmentation on a single swipe. The colors are deep, rich, and provide excellent color pay off or at least the two I tried were! These wore for about four hours each on my lips so not exactly an “Ultimate Stay” but still a nice wear for such an inexpensive formula.

Anytime I try anything from Catrice I’m constantly left shaking my head at their prices! I’m still in disbelief these are a mere $7.99 each.

If you’re looking for a comfortable lipstick formula sans shimmer and glitter with a satiny-matte finish that isn’t drying, these Catrice Ultimate Lipsticks fit the bill beautifully!

Catrice Ultimate Stay Lipstick is available now at Ulta.com.

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. I have not yet tried anything from this brand, but I am in the process of placing an online order from Ulta and would like to add something from Catrice to give this brand a try. What is your favorite Catrice product so far? I am curious as to what you would recommend for someone new to the brand. Thanks!

  • Cheryl

You are very welcome. I’ve got your back! The appalling lack of manners that people display online is a pet peeve. If one has nothing nice to say, one should shut one’s useless, low class, sorry mouth.

    • Isabella Muse

thank you, sincerely thank you! I’m always quite appalled as well! Sigh! I hope to blame it on her youth but lord knows someone needs to her parent her a bit better if she’s running around spewing craptastic comments are strangers on the Internet :-/ I worry for today’s youth!

      • Cheryl

Agreed. Growing up in the social media age seems to result in a lack of common sense, reasonable communication skills, and the ability to exercise discretion in filtering what comes out of one’s mouth.

        • Isabella Muse

Amen. I’m not that old lord knows but you see these kids today and they completely lack common sense or social etiquette of any kid! I’m also one to blame their parents! Parents need to be more active in raising their children correctly and teaching them proper manners.

I’m usually not into nude browns but that shade is deep enough that it looks really pretty. I would love to try some things from this brand, do you know if their lipliners are any good?
I’m on the lookout for cheap but good lip liners that aren’t super dry and also a new cheap brow pencil. (I loved Essence’s black one so I’m going to check Ulta to see if they still have it)

    • Isabella Muse

I’m not sure Lorraine! I don’t really use lipliners all that much! Sorry chica!

The brown in your swatch looks neutral to almost cool, but looks warm on your lips. Do you think it leans more cool or warm? Thanks!

  • Cheryl

D’oh! Ulta ( or Catrice) raised the prices. Now these lipsticks are$ 7.99 a piece.

    • Isabella Muse

HEYYYYYY! 🙁 they were $3.99 yesterday! Sadness! Wait fora sale, they often do bogo on catrice!

Hey I’m a regular but silent visitor on your blog – I love your reviews, they’re always helpful and honest, and you seem like a highly likeable and super cute person. (I don’t mean to come off creepy haha)
Anyway I own Chocolate Kiss and it seems like a dupe for my all time favorite (and limited edition…) lipstick Hot Chocolate from MAC, although the formula does not compare.

    • Isabella Muse

Hi Fiona sorry for the delayed reply! I hope you had a lovely 4th! Aw thanks <3! That isn't creepy at all, I'm flattered! I don't own Hot Chocolate! I'll have to compare the two! But hey, cheaper dupes are always nice 😀 thanks for sharing! Happy Weekend!

I love, love, love Catrice Cosmetics!!! In 2017, they launched a US website. I place at least one order per month. The Ultimate Stay lipsticks are my absolute favorite lipsticks right now. I own five of them: Mauve Your Lips, Chocolate Kiss, All That She Wants. PassionRed, and Plum & Base. My absolute favorites are All That She Wants and PassionRed. They’re both beautiful!

    • Isabella Muse

Catrice is one of my fav brands too! I typically buy at Ulta but was quite happy when they launched their own site last year 😀

  • Kay

I L-O-V-E Catrice Cosmetics in general and this lipstick line in particular. (I own five of them.) Please note that since this post that Catrice has launched a US website (in 2017). The minimum for free shipping is only $20. I place an order about once a month. Also, if you reply to their requests to do online reviews of selected products you’ve purchased, you receive coupons for $5 off of $25 purchases. (Sale products are even included!)
