It Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Primer Oil-Free Poreless Skin-Perfecting Serum Primer Review & Swatches
It Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Primer Oil-Free Poreless Skin-Perfecting Serum Primer ($38) is a new Sephora exclusive facial primer that recently launched which I’ve been using a few weeks now! This doesn’t quite fit my personal skin type as it provides a matte finish and also acts to blur the appearance of pores or finer lines. I have drier, poreless skin and no finer likes and wrinkles byt It Cosmetics does promise that this would be fine for most any skin type and even has hydrating benefits.
Recently, It Cosmetics launched at Sephora and with that launch there are a host of exclusive products available including Bye Bye Pores Primer Oil-Free Poreless Skin-Perfecting Serum Primer as well as the Anti-Aging Armour Super Smart Skin-Perfecting Beauty Fluid I recently reviewed. A launch at Sephora is a major step for It Cosmetics but lord knows, they are already very popular without any help at all from Sephora. L’Oreal recently purchased the brand for 1.2 billion dollars! That alone speaks for the brand’s popularity and presence in the makeup world.
I had my reservations about trying this formula but as an It lover I’m rarely disappointed by their offerings. Unfortunately, this and the Anti-Aging Armour Super Smart Skin-Perfecting Beauty Fluid did disappoint me.
They market this as a weightless, oil-free primer but I find it uncomfortable to wear. The formula has a light, creamy consistency that applies with a slick silicone-feel on my skin. It almost feels a bit gritty going on and creates unnecessary oiliness on my skin. Thankfully I had no issues with pill but I experienced a bit of itchiness during application but thankfully not after. It apparently contains a host of great ingredients such as hydrolyzed collagen and purifying charcoal but the texture of the formula fails to wow me. They also market it to neutralize and correct while minimizing shine. Personally, I didn’t notice and color correction! It actually creates a pastiness on my skin especially in photographs. It’s supposed to minimize shine but it actually created a bit of shine and oil on my skin. I have smaller pores on my nose which I rely on primer to fill and blur and this does an ok job of blurring their appearance but the formula’s texture and the white cast it leaves behind isn’t worth the small amount of blurring I get from it. I also felt like my foundation wasn’t adhering well to the primer in the least and slipped around my face a bit during application with a bit of patchiness.
One thing that might deserve mentioning is the packaging was a little faulty or at least my tube was. This is a tube with an attached pump. The pump worked fine when I used it the first two times but after that I had to squeeze the bottom of the tube to get the product flowing into the pump. For some reason it didn’t seem to be getting air inside the pump to get the primer flowing. It could an isolated issue but it was worth a mention just in case!
It Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Primer Oil-Free Poreless Skin-Perfecting Serum Primer sounds great in theory but didn’t quite work out for this dry skinned girl. If it create unnecessary slickness on my dry skin, I’m just imagining how oily skin users will feel about it. Sadly, I didn’t like the texture nor the formula nor the way it performed! I’m an It Girl for life but this was a sad skip for me.
