Glamorous and More Friendlier Packaging for Your Lush Dusting Powders

One of my first purchases from Lush was a dusting powder in Candy Fluff! It was life changing to say the least as I adored the smooth, creamy vanilla candy-like fragrance. I’ve always been a fond fan of dusting powders. They make me feel pretty and rather glam! One of my favorites which I can’t do without is Guerlain’s Shalimar Dusting Powder.

I wanted to do this post a while now because I HATE Lush’s Dusting Powder packaging.

So, this is going to teach you how to make glamorous and more friendlier packaging for your Lush Dusting Powders!

Lush originally offered their dusting powder in shaker style packaging which I always found incredibly messy. A few years ago they started housing their dusting powders in bottles. WHY? Why! WHY? Why? I do not understand why they did this and even though I hated the shaker jar I actually hoped they’d bring it back because anything was better than a dusting powder packaging it what was essentially a shampoo bottle. This packaging is so messy and impossible to use in my opinion!

My solution? Head to my nearest Home Goods and grab up some fancy powder jars. I happen to be obsessed with powder jars! I own a ton of vintage art deco ones and have two full Victorian vanity sets I purchased at auction when visiting England. But, I’m anal, and I won’t use most of them to actually store powder. I display most of them in a curios cabinet but actually using them? Yeah, that’s out of the question.

Home Goods is the perfect place to purchase really pretty and super affordable bathroom accessories. For example, these jars in this post I got for $9.99 each. They were likely created to store cotton balls or Q-Tips but I purchased them to store powders. I actually have a host of different ones that I used to store both facial and body powders in. They actually remind me of Lady Primrose packaging! For one thing they are super pretty and secondly, they are a hell of a lot easier to use compared to Lush’s shampoo bottle packaging. Just unscrew the cap from your fav Lush Powder and dump into your new, very pretty jar that you purchased for a few bucks at Home Goods!

You can actually purchase beautiful fluffy puffs or even larger sponges to use with these jars but I actually like using a super fluffy makeup brush to apply my powder! Simply dip the brush into the powder and dust it on your chest, arms, etc…!

And there you have it! An easy, affordable way to glam up and make your Lush Dusting Powders more friendlier and less messy to use!

Oh my god, I just realized I want to buy the new Harry Potter brush set and use the fluffiest one to apply body powder!

Oh you pre-ordered that too? 🙂 I can’t wait to get them! December seems ages away!

I love Home Goods! They have such nice decor stuff in there! I esp love their clearance section haha 😉

Love this idea – I have a few similar jars holding my cotton pads and q-tips but never though about putting powder in it. Clever!

You could also thoroughly clean out a BBW three wick jar and store it in there! I am not a crafty person, but I could see someone really making nice powder jars with the colored glass White Barn line candles.

What a great idea! Your containers of Lady Primrose products are so beautiful!
I honestly think my prettiest packaging is the loose face powder jar that Lavshuca came out with during one of their Christmas collections, remember that? But it’s still just a very nice plastic jar (I know this is terrible, but I still have some of that old powder- eep!). Also, remember when Christmas releases in Japan were just EVERYTHING? I still love your old posts on those. 🙂

God I love Lady primrose but lately they phased out some of their fragrances, so sad! They are down to like two fragrances 🙁 I remember those! They weren’t X-Mas though, it was a standard perm release but they got axed 🙂 I have both! Pink and gold hehe! Even plastic it was still terribly pretty! Jill Stuart also had the gorgeous plastic containers 😀 YES! But lately none of the Japan releases are appealing and not as pretty as say 10 years ago 😀 Awwwwwwwww thanks! Those were the glory days 🙂 so much has changed in makeup nowadays!
