beauty news

Ulta continues to step up their beauty and makeup game! The Chicago Tribune reports that select products from NARS will be sold at Ulta soon! Yup, that means you can buy NARS at Ulta. w00t! I was just discussing how evolved Ulta Beauty has become and how much growth they’ve shown in the last year introducing not only bigger beauty brands like Estee Lauder but also catering to niche makeup and beauty fans with K-Beauty brands such as Tony Moly. The introduction of Sarah Jessica Parker’s new SJP fragrance also shows a sudden break into the world of higher end fragrances.

Ulta is fast becoming a big player in the makeup world and is striving hard to become a better version of Sephora. This especially the case because remember Ulta doesn’t only carry mid-range makeup and beauty but also higher end brands as well as drugstore ones.

There’s no word on when NARS will enter Ulta stores and Ulta.com but I imagine it’ll be soon! Apparently they are even working on special packaging for their Ulta offerings.

Ulta will also be introducing a mobile app that allows you to try on makeup virtually.

I’m excited about the many changes at Ulta Beauty lately and look forward to seeing more in 2017.

Are you an Ulta fan?

Do share your thoughts on the new Ulta App and the introduction of NARS to the store!

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. As you know, I prefer Sephora to Ulta for many reasons, not the least of which is I get free UPS Ground shipping on every order since I’m VIB Rouge. But I think I’ve purchased more from Ulta lately simply because they are getting new stuff that much quicker. But Ulta should revamp their perks for Platinum members and offer free UPS Ground (not SurePost) shipping for us.

Not that I’m aware of. I’m a platinum member and I’ve always had to meet the minimum requirements for free shipping.

Wow, NARS at Ulta is great. That’ll definitely help me cut back on my Sephora trips.

I hope the new app is better than the current one. However, I think I’d rather shop the .com site even though it has a lot of issues.

Sweet baby Jesus, don’t play with me… Can you imagine the NARS damage with the regular 20% off that Ulta gives… Crap.

  • Sarah

I’m so excited to hear that Ulta is going to carry NARS!! I still prefer Sephora, though… they carry more of the brands I like. But it looks like Ulta is catching up! 😉

Good news! I tend to enjoy the Sephora offerings more overall, but when those Ultamate Rewards start adding up, with the frequent 2X, 3X, 5X points on purchases, and then you can redeem for cash toward any product in the store, it’s SOOOOOOOOOO much better than the Sephora rewards. The new Rewards Bazaar is annoying me, with a few cool perks that are nearly impossible to get, and then the lower-point value perks seem to be less and less enticing. Whenever I can buy from Ulta, I will.

I wish Ulta would accept international credit cards I’m planning to ship it to a US address anyway :(((

Nars foundation is one of the only reasons I still shop at Sephora- so I guess I can switch that to Ulta now if they gave platinum members free shipping- I would probably spend double there( and I don’t know if that’s possible )!

The way Ulta’s rewards work though, if you’ve spent enough to become Platinum and you’ve used the points multipliers properly, you should never have to pay shipping anyway since it’s always free on $50+. That’s how I’ve done most of my online shopping with Ulta, with one exception (that UD Gwen Stefani eyeshadow palette when it was $25 and my store sold out before I made up my mind). To be fair, though, I still do most of my shopping with them in store since it’s just convenient. Online is better if it’s something that just released or isn’t in my local store at all.

I literally gasped when I first heard this news. I looove Ulta’s reward system more, so I’m SO EXCITED they’ll have NARS! I hope they have the foundations….. I’m almost out of mine! :O

  • Dee

Great news! I definitely shop at Ulta more since it’s closer and the rewards are better. And I like being able to get drugstore items as well as the higher end things.

  • Crystal

I prefer Ulta simply for the points and wide range of products from drugstore to high end. If it’s something I can get at either Sephora or Ulta I always go to Ulta. Their point system is so awesome! Who doesn’t love dollars off a purchase!

I work as a beauty advisor supervisor. We are going to start having some NARS in November with more coming in January. As employees we are all super excited about all the brands that we have acquired lately. 3 years ago when I started at ULTA I said that the 2 brands that I wished more than anything that we would carry were Origins and NARS. We got Origins a few months ago and now NARS!!!!! (Does a happy dance)

I prefer Sephora’s website but Ulta’s holiday exclusive offerings this year have been better.
