Wet n Wild Megaglo Highlighting Gold Bar Review & Swatches

Wet n Wild Megaglo Highlighting Gold Bar ($3.99) in Holly Gold Head is a new, limited edition highlighter that launched with the Wet n Wild Sequins and Stardust Holiday 2016 Collection. I purchased this a few weeks ago at Harmons but it is now available on the Wet n Wild Website as of yesterday and still in stock which shocked me. Personally, I’d recommend buying it online since displays at the drugstore merely have one bar each and it’ll likely prove impossible to track down.

The Wet n Wild Megaglo Highlighting Gold Bar reminds me of the Charlotte Tilbury Bar of Gold Light-Reflecting Highlighter a little bit! This comes housed in a black compact with a clear plastic lid. I didn’t take a picture of it but I just realized it actually has a little mirror that pulls out from the side! Pretty nifty packaging for under $4 bucks right? The highlighter actually looks like a thick, gold bar (0.22 oz). This is the original Megaglo formula but they repackaged it for the Holidays and gave it a pretty star design.

The highlighter is made up of two shades but the brassy light gold is the dominate shade with a small coppery shade that makes up the star design of the palette. For me, the star’s shade is merely a decoration as it is hard getting to that shade and actually using it. This is an unique gold shade. The color is a brassy gold with a pretty peach reflection in the pan but it applies a pure gold on cheeks and face. This is a fine milled powder with a velvety texture. Initially there’s a fine sparkly over spray over but this dusts off with the first use. The powder beneath is still very, very shimmery. This applies and blends very easily but beware, a little goes a very long way because it does cling to drier areas if you have them. I find a misting of setting refines the finish of the powder on my drier skin. This creates a really pretty golden glow on my cheek bones! Sadly, you can’t get the full effect from my crummy photos below but I did try to capture the glow the best I could.

With highlighters being so very huge at the moment, I picture the Wet n Wild Megaglo Highlighting Gold Bar being a popular pick! Not to mention it’s a super affordable way to get your glow on this Holiday season! And hey, if highlighting isn’t you thing, no worries, slip a little onto your lids for a pretty foiled eye look.

Wet n Wild Megaglo Highlighting Gold Bar is available now at wetnwildbeauty.com or at drugstores.

I purchased this item.

What is on your lips in the last pic? That color is so lovely and natural on you.

Thank you! It’s actually one of the NYX Suede Liquid Lipsticks with gloss on top! Shade is Soft Spoken!

My issue with drugstore powders is longevity. Who cares how pretty it is if it’s worn off in an hour. How long does this one last?

I’ve heard good things about this one. Finger crossed that I can find it in stores!

The glitter looks a little too obvious for daily office wear. Muse, are you highlightered-out yet? I think I’m getting there! I do want to snag the loose pigments that launched with this collection, if I stumble upon them in store.

Honestly, I was never QUITE on the highlighter bandwagon! Some people work it but I can’t 😉 At some point though they all run together and look the same. You do not need a dozen gold highlighters imho!

Want! Want! So pretty! Of all the highliters I own drugstore kind I have the Rose and Bronze from Maybelline these I find they do nothing. I thought tovreturn them but decided to keep them and use as overall face powder. The Waikiki bronzer from Physians Formula is great I can use both as a bit of contour or all over bronzer quiet nice! Also have the WetnWild Cat Walk Pink beautiful! Desert Explorations and Sun Ceremony although very light it dies shiw a pretty shine I do like them but the one that really throws a punch is I’ll have a Cosmo! I like more for night! But really the May Elaine ines save your $! Even on me so pale hardly does a thing not good as blush so I’ll use as all over face powder instead.

I’d love to pick this up, but we only have a very small selection of Wet n Wild products in our Canadian drugstores, which is such a bummer!

Musey, you look fresh and youthful and gorgeous! Thanks for the review. 🙂 Seems like this one is hard to get ahold of. How would you compare it, if at all, to the Essence Pure Nude highlighter? xoxo

Aw sweet of you to say thanks. Thank you! <3! xoxoxox! They aren't the same at all, two vastly different products 🙂 Not hard all to get, the website has it in stock now if you are interested in getting it! 🙂

Hi Irmaris it could work on light skin but I always feel like pearl-ish shades show up best on lighter/paler tones!
