Hard Candy Glamoflauge Mix”in Pigment Makeup Drops Review & Swatches
Hard Candy Glamoflauge Mix”in Pigment Makeup Drops are a new, highly concentrated liquid pigment that you can mix it with your favorite primer, moisturizer, etc…to create a customized foundation. If the idea sounds familiar that would be because Cover FX Custom Cover Drops pretty much do the same thing. The difference? Hard Candy Glamoflauge Mix”in Pigment Makeup Drops does it better and cheaper!
As a fan of both Hard Candy Glamoflauge Foundation and Hard Candy Glamoflauge Concealer, I was eager to try yet skeptical about Hard Candy Glamoflauge Mix”in Pigment Makeup Drops. I didn’t like Cover FX Custom Cover Drops so I had my reservations about trying Hard Candy’s formula. The Cover FX formula was heavy for me no matter what I used to mix them with! I felt very made up when using them and also felt the formula clung to drier areas on my face. For me, foundation is used to brighten and even out my complexion but I want it sheer enough to accentuate my blemish-free skin. That’s exactly what I got with Hard Candy’s formula.
These drops are a mere $7 for a 0.5 oz and available in 12 shades. They may be small in size but they are pigmented which means you’ll be using a small amount and get a good deal of mileage out of a single bottle as more is less.
I had a hard time deciding which shade I wanted to try as they look identical in the bottle. I ended up with Light 4 which was almost an exact match for my skin tone. It did oxidize and go a bit lighter once applied as it looks a bit orange-y in my swatch but once applied it was a creamier shade with a beige undertone.
These come in a dropper bottle which makes application and mixing easy. You can use them mixed with moisturizer, primer, or any other cream medium you choose. Personally, I ended up liking them best used directly on my skin which isn’t quite the recommended way to use them but it worked a treat for me. I simply used one tiny drop on my arm, buffed my brush into the drop, and applied on my face. I didn’t like the mixed with my primer but I did enjoy using them mixed with a moisturizer as you get the benefits of your moisturizer combined with a good deal of pigment that will give you considerably more coverage than a more sheerer tinted moisturizer. These drops do separate so, shake them up vigorously before using them.
The coverage is completely customizable. You can go sheer which is what I prefer or if you desire full coverage, that option is available as well. The more you use the more coverage they’ll provide and the less you use the sheerer coverage you’ll get. I didn’t struggle with the mixing process at all. They mix well with just about anything and didn’t separate or morph the formulas I used them in conjunction with. I didn’t really like them combined with my primer of choice, Revlon Photoready Primer, as I apply that primer sparsely, and adding the drops to that small amount of primer seemed to defeat to point. None the less, this combines well with other creams. You can even use it in conjunction with sheerer foundations or sheerer tinted moisturizers to add more coverage to them. The possibilities are endless. In my swatch below, I tried to give you an idea of the full coverage versus the sheerer in three swatches I did if Light 4.
When I used them alone they applied flawlessly! They didn’t adhere to my drier skin and the finish was smooth, even, and perfect! It was an airbrushed finish. You’ll get different results depending on the medium you use. For example, when you use them with a moisturizer you’re going to get more of a dewy finish. When used with primer, if you’re primer has silicone, it’ll be more of a matte finish. Alone, I wouldn’t say the finish was dewy nor matte but more of a light, satin. They adhere well to skin and look invisible with a seamless finish that’s natural and not made up.
Hard Candy Glamoflauge Mix”in Pigment Makeup Drops are refreshingly inexpensive and provide all the benefits of a customizable foundation experience that brightens skin and leaves it looking flawlessly natural.
