If the shades sound familiar that would be because they are the three bestselling colors from Kat’s Evlasting Liquid Lipstick Collection. This collection recreates and reformulates those shades for the Holidays in a solid lipstick formula with special edition sparkling studded barrel packaging and a new satin finish.
I happen to be a fan of Kat Von D’s Studded Lipstick formula but it isn’t a texture everyone loves. According to the brand this formula provides bold, long-lasting color as well as a velvet-touch comfort formula.

The original line was offered in matte finish only which was extended to include metallic and shimmer shades when Kat Von D’s old lipstick line was phased out. With the addition of the Holiday Kiss shades, there’s yet another finish to indulge in, satin. I have to admit I don’t see the difference between the matte and satin formula! To be it applies, feels, and visibly looks the same as the matte.
As I mentioned above you’re either going to love it or hate it. I personally like it which says something considering the formula is fairly stiff and does drag a little bit during application. The thing I like most about the formula is the fact it doesn’t adhere to the drier areas on my lips and it looks very smooth. It also locks down once applied and doesn’t feather, migrate, or move for a solid six hours. Pigmentation is excellent and a single pass yields bold, rich color. I find the secret to application is to apply a single layer and go back over that layer once or twice as the formula gets less stiff and more creamier with each pass. It’s not the easiest formula in the world to work with but it looks stunning once applied.

I think she did a wonderful job with the shades. I tried out Mother and Double Dare. Mother is a dusky raspberry and Double Dare is a delightful dusky brown based rose. Both shades should work on a variety of skin tones.
