Revlon Ultra HD Gel Lipcolor ($9.99) are a new Spring 2017 slim line lipstick available in 15 vibrant shades that will be part of the Revlon permanent collection of HD lip products. I always find slimline lipsticks terribly appealing and even though I really don’t love the Revlon Ultra HD Lipstick formula I decided to give these new Ultra HD Gel Lipcolor Lipsticks a try!

Here’s some thoughts.

Revlon Ultra HD Gel Lipcolor Lipstick are a slimline lipstick that comes housed in a metallic barrel which holds 0.17 oz of product. I think packaging is quite fun and pretty! For some reason I find slim lipsticks like this terribly appealing. The precise, smaller slanted points always seem apply so much easier than a full-size lipstick.

I think the Ultra HD Gel Lipcolor formula is also a considerable improvement over the heavier, silicone-like texture of the original Ultra HD Lipstick. I felt like the Ultra HD Lipstick was a bit heavy and although creamy with an easy glide I didn’t particularly like how they felt on my lips. The Ultra HD Gel Lipcolor is creamy but has more slip with a slicker texture that glides on smoothly and evenly leaving behind tons of color but also a nice hint of shine too. The texture is lightly moisturizing, comfortable to wear, and lacks the odd waxy silicone consistency that I associate with the original Ultra UD Lipstick formula. I’m also quite a fan of the nice hint of shine these have. I didn’t have issues with the color feather or migrating and it wore nicely for four hours while keeping my lips pleasantly moist. The comfort of wear is considerably nicer than the original HD Lipsticks as this formula not only feels moist but also lightweight and not as thick. Sadly, the HD Gel Lipcolor falls victim to being highly fragranced and flavored with a fruity, perfume taste. I didn’t feel the flavor was bitter though and not as strong as the HD Lipstick cherry cough syrup flavor but regardless, for sensitive users, this might be a big fail.

The flavor might be an issue for some but all and all the Revlon Ultra HD Gel Lipcolor is delightful! It’s pigmented, applies easily, has a slick, lightweight texture, and kept my lips pleasantly moist through the wear. I can see myself purchasing more of these delightful lipsticks.

Revlon Ultra HD Gel Lipcolor is launching now at drugstores and at Ulta.com.

OH Desert and Sand — YOU will be mine! <3

Isabella, what eyeliner are you wearing on your top lid in these pics?? It's gorgeous!

  • Jane

Have it, haven’t busted it out yet! Glad to see you like it. I hate reading reviews where you (or any other blogger I “know”) hate/s it and I look at it on my dresser going, DANG.

    Adobe looks amazing on you!

    • Isabella Muse

haa I’m like that! I’ll read a bad review and be like, damn I don’t want to try it not, I know I’ll hate it 🙂 thanks Jane!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Andrew

I’ve tried two of these so far and I’ve got mixed feelings. They’re comfortable and the shade selection is nice, but the formula reminds me a lot of the Rimmel chubby lip pencils. They’re less than half the cost at my local store and you get a lot more bang for your buck. The packaging reminds me a lot of the Chanel Allure Stylo released this last year, only less luxurious and with different colored tubes.

    • Isabella Muse

hmmm! I didn’t feel like they were like the Rimmel Chubby Sticks but now I’m like, “I gotta retry the Rimmel Chubby Sticks and compare!” I like the slickness, nice shine too! I’m all about shiny lipstick 😀

  • Susan

Holy moley, I was prepared to like one or two, but every single one looks awesome on you, and I’m not just saying that.

For myself, I think I have to have Dawn and Desert. Thanks for the review!

  • Teresa

I just bought two of these and contemplated getting a third! After seeing your swatches I may need to go back and get a few more. I like the coverage and feel so far and definitely liked the packaging. I also prefer a slightly shiny lip and these give me that (I cannot use matte lipstick without slicking something over it-my lips look so-o-o dry!). Good to know these will be part of the permanent collection.

    • Isabella Muse

me too! Anytime I do a matte lip I end up with clear gloss on top! 😀

  • Kimmwc03

I have a Desert one but for some reason it pulls red on me. I wish it looked more like your swatches. I like the formula though.

  • Lacy

I grabbed 3 of these a couple weeks ago and while I loved the colors, pasyoff and formula I couldn’t get paste the scent!

  • Sarah

I loved the original formula (but the packaging is meh). I’m in love with rhubarb! I must try it.

  • Dee

These all look fantastic on you!

I like the slimmer lipsticks too. Must find these!

  • Michelle Flamingo

I like Dawn, Desert and Vineyard on you. Very pretty eye makeup, too!

  • Lorraine. E.R

I like slim lipsticks too!! The finish and shades of these don’t appeal to me particularly but usually slim lipsticks catch my eye and some of my fave colors in the past have been slim Lippies.

  • Kathy

I like the colors bigtime, but the perfume scent is and has always been a turnoff. Why does Revlon do that?

  • Jodi Apps

Holy wow!!! Those eyes!! You look magnificent! You sure do rock red lipstick too! The combination is outstanding! ( sometimes I worry that my compliments make me seem like some kind of a psycho stalker so I don’t always follow through – but you look so mazing in these pics I’ll risk it this time )

    • Isabella Muse

aw thanks Jodi! I’m blushing 😀 haha not at all stalker-like! You totally made my ego glow today xxoxoxoxo!

  • Wildfire

The packaging is really cute! They remind of NYX plush lipsticks. I’m excited to try them out soon x

  • Susan

p.s. Where did you buy these? I’m looking and can’t find them yet. Thanks!

      • Susan

Thank you! Wouldn’t you know it, I was just in Target but the beauty aisles were such a mess with restocking that I stayed away. Oh well, I need to go back for…. um, kitty litter! Yep, kitty litter. Just gonna buy some kitty litter…. 😉

  • Ciera

I am in love with your blog! I never buy anything unless you’ve reviewed it. I really appreciate your detailed critiquing and pictures of both swatches AND the makeup applied as well. Thank you, please keep up the good work!

    • Isabella Muse

aw thank you Ciera! I’m flattered!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! xoxoxo!

  • Krista

I just picked up dawn. It’s a lovely everyday shade! Just enough color, and the shine is great. I agree, it feels good on. I’m a professor and I find a lot of lip products don’t hold up through a lecture, but I think this will be great thanks to how moisturizing it is.

  • Kim

Thx for swatching. I saw these colors at the drugstore and was intrigued, but thetube and color tops looked really similar so I couldn’t tell which color to pick. Your site came up when I goigled for reviews! It’s also helpful seeing what the colors looked like on. I have a similar fair skin color to yours but with green eyes and blonde hair. I think sand will be good for me, but also vineyard -which im surprised cuz it looked way darker in the tube and swatch. It looks really nice in your pic and i think I’m going to try it! So thanks!

Ps- have you reviewed the NYX liquid Matt colors? Specifically London? That Shade is the most popular nude shade on Pinterest, according to an article I read.

  • Tracy

I just bought a tube a few days ago, the color is “blossom”, and I love it! I usually stick to gloss because lipstick always ends up feeling too waxy and dry, but as you said it has some moisture to it, last a long time and the color is great, very vivid and bright. It’s a lipstick I would recommend.

  • Kimberly

I was wondering these compare to the Almay smart shade butter kiss lipsticks or the Neutrogena moisture smooth color sticks. I can never have too many pretty moisturizing lip colors!

    • Isabella Muse

These are as nicely hydrated but more pigmented in comparison to Almay’s and Neutrogena’s formula.

  • Elizabeth

    Isabella,
They look beautiful on you, each shade seems to have great pigmentation. The vineyard is stunning on you however, and I now must try it. I am not a big fan of scented or flavor in my lipsticks but because the shades are so gorgeous; why not give it a try, right? As always, thanks for the excellent evaluation and post. Now, off to get this little item.

    • Isabella Muse

aw thanks Elizabeth you’re too kind! aw my pleasure! Let me know what you think!

  • Helen B.

These are lovely! I have Adobe, Desert, Dawn, Sand, and Vineyard. Adobe and Dawn look best on my tanned skin. Thanks Muse for the great review, always a pleasure to read your blog.

    • Isabella Muse

aw my pleasure Helen thank you for the lovely compliment/comment 🙂

  • Michelle

Hi…sorry I know this is an old review but I wondered how they compare to the Revlon lip butters?

    • Isabella Muse

Lip butters are thicker and creamier, these are slicker and thinner in consistency. Hope this helps 🙂

  • Ambreen

This got a lot of good reviews on yt too. Are there any dupes for this? Like one that gives your more product? I dunno I just feel like there should be more than 1g for the price. Also how does it wear? Does slip off easily like glosses?
