Too Faced Papa Don’t Peach Review & Swatches
Too Faced Papa Don’t Peach Blush ($30) makes a return with the Too Faced Sweet Peach Spring 2017 Collection. This pretty little peach blush was released in Summer 2009 and at the time they were available in three shades and called Too Faced Pinch My Petals Blush.
With the revamp you’ll be getting pretty new packaging, a little bit of a shade revamp, and a lovely peachy fragrance.
Here’s my review and swatches.
Too Faced Papa Don’t Peach Blush comes housed in a very cute tin compact that features an adorable peach emoji on the front face plate. The blush weights in at 0.32 oz in size and will set you back $30. I can’t recall the size of the original blush at the moment but it was originally $19.50.
One of the stand out things about the blush is the packaging. I’m a sucker for anything that’s cute and this is beyond cute. When I was in Japan I was always amazed by the kawaii culture. Everything from street signs to directions on washing your hands at a public bathroom are done with cute little cartoons many of which you’ll easily associate and recognize, I’m talking to you Hello Kitty. I’ve always been fascinated with Japanese and Korean culture as well as makeup as testimony to my blog which has strong roots in Asian makeup and beauty. I love many of the Eastern influences in the makeup world today. I don’t know if Too Faced realizes it or not but the packaging and the cuteness here very much give off a Japanese vibe and even a Korean one as many of you might just remember the Etude House Miss Tangerine Collection that launched a few years ago. Although, not peach, it was another very cute citrus-y collection that absolutely delighted me! The tin packaging might bring you back to your grade school days when having a really cool Sanrio pencil box was all the rage. The sweet peach emoji makes an appearance outside and inside the compact as well! Not to mention there’s an adorable peach imprint on the blush! You may love or not love the fact this smells like sweet peaches. I was a little disappointed when I originally reviewed the Too Faced Sweet Peach Eyeshadow Palette because the scent was kind of faint to my nose. None of that applied to Papa Don’t Peach! It’s super scented! You can smell it well after application! I loved it but sensitive users might not adore it. Personally, I think it adds even more cuteness to the blush.
As for the shade it’s considerably more pink compared to the original. For me the shade is a warm coral orange with a bit of pink and a frosty finish that has a slight sheen. It’s the type of texture that does cling to dryness prepping well prior to application will get you the smoothest finish. It could potentially be disappointing if you have a darker skin as the color is sheerer in finish. It builds nicely but still remains fairly sheer and this will prove disappointing for many darker skin tones. I have a lighter medium skin tone with warm undertones and I thought it looked very pretty. I could build it to a really warm orange-y coral but I kept it fairly sheer in my photos below and I think you can see it reflects back a nice pinkish tone. It applies fairly easily and blends nicely but the finish does have a knack for adhering to drier areas on my face if I build it too much. Just prep well if you have drier skin and you’ll be fine. It wore quite nicely without fading for a solid seven hours!
Too Faced Papa Don’t Peach isn’t going to win the hearts of those with darker skin tones but it’s a rather nice warmer, golden peach that’s a refreshing and warmer than the standard golden pinks we’ve seen from popular shades like NARS Orgasm. I liked it but didn’t love it. I think that MAC really captured my heart this season with their Sweet Vision Magic Dust Powder and I was kind of hoping I’d see some of the same from Papa Don’t Peach but it didn’t quite gift me with that pretty luminous glow I was expecting. None the less, I don’t regret the purchase!
