L’Oreal Hydra Genius Daily Liquid Care Moisturizer ($17.99) is a new moisturizing that has a lightweight Aloe Water and Hyaluronic Acid infused formula with a water base that instantly absorbs into skin and provides intense moisture and aids in helping to retain that moisture. This is actually one of two new Hydra Genius Skincare products launching for Spring 2017. The other one is L’Oreal’s new Hydra Genius Liquid Care Lotion which I loved but sadly, it contains a good deal of fragrance as well as alcohol.

I’m most unhappy to say that L’Oreal Hydra Genius Daily Liquid Care Moisturizer falls victim to much of the same.

L’Oreal Hydra Genius Daily Liquid Care Moisturizer is a fantastic product but it has some major put falls. First off, I think there could be potential confusion surrounding the two formulas that L’Oreal released in the Hydra Genius Collection since both share the same name, “L’Oreal Hydra Genius Daily Liquid Care”. I add lotion and moisturizer myself to give you a better understanding of the two formulas. I think L’Oreal should have taken the initiative to do that as well.

This would be the moisturizer formula in my opinion. It’s a thicker yet still gel-like formula that absorbs very, very, very easily into skin. The lotion is gel-like as well but more so than the moisturizer and also it feels more watery and running in consistency. I don’t think they meant for these to be used together even though the lotion feels essence-like to me. I think it’s more of an either/or situation of what you prefer using in terms of formula. Or you can do what I’ve been doing, use the moisturizer at night and the lotion in the AM. If you’re extra dry you cam totally use the lotion as a serum of sorts and follow up with the moisturizer should you like. Again, L’Oreal does not explain any of this so, I’m just making it all up as I go along.

The lotion does have the more superior packaging as it comes in a pump bottle which means it’ll remain stable and fresh longer versus the moisturizer that arrives in a 1.7 oz jar. Not to mention you get nearly triple the amount in the lotion pump packaging for the same price. Weird.

As with the lotion this promises 72 hours of moisture. I wouldn’t say it gives me 72 hours worth of moisture but it does give plenty of moisture and retails that moisture. My skin felt fresh, smooth, and very soft but never greasy or oily after using this. The formula is easy to absorb and wears well under makeup and allows my foundation a more smoother, even finish. I absolutely adore it but the ingredients are quite sad. First off, it’s very highly fragranced with a fresh, aquatic that’s pleasant but overkill. Secondly, it contains alcohol as well as dimethicone, alcohol, and mineral oil. I’m fine with the dimethicone and the mineral oil but the alcohol isn’t exactly a great ingredient in a moisturizer that’s meant to hydrate. I experience no dryness after using it for nearly three weeks but again, alcohol isn’t exactly a great ingredient and can contribute to aging skin.

L’Oreal Hydra Genius Daily Liquid Care Moisturizer is fantastic. It’s a great formula that provides plenty of moisture. But sadly the ingredients, fragrance, and jar packaging make it a fail of a product.

L’Oreal Hydra Genius Daily Liquid Care Moisturizer is launching now at drugstores and should be available soon at Ulta.com.

Danget. I was hoping to use this as a night Cream. I have very oily skin, so this sounded like it would fit the bill. But any product, no matter what it is, if dimethicone is that high up on the list.. I will be pimple city. It always clogs my pores. Danget:(

I got this and the Genius Liquid care last night at the evil empire. I will try them out and see how it goes. I like Loreal products. Especially considering their price point. Most times I am happy.

I used the Extra Dry Cream last night and I like it. It is not too heavy and it absorbed nicely. I have an oily t-zone so I was a little worried. But, this morning my skin is nice and moisturized. I live in Tallahassee, Fl and the low got down to the thirties last night, so we had the fireplace going and the heat on 65. That helped dry my skin out and I needed the extra moisture. But, yes there is slight fragrance, but not over whelming. Some people don’t like fragrance, I personally do. Also, the Hydro Gel that is in the pump is over 3.0 ounces. The cream is 1.7 oz. That’s an awesome deal. All in all, I like this.

I’m happy to hear you’re liking it, Sarah! 😀 I don’t get the oddness with the sizes, how weird they are priced the same yet completely different sizes!

I’m sticking to my CeraVé facial moisturizer love it it has been working great. I wear sunblock, then the cream and it has served well instead of a primer in filling in and making my foundation run smooth. With combination skin mostly dry/oily in chin I’m afraid of the alcohol drying me out.

How can it be a superior moisturizer yet be a fail because of the ingredients and packaging? I use the formula for normal skin and it’s been lovely. Furthermore, Dimethicone along with hyaluronic acid and glycerin are humectants which make the moisturizer work. I do agree that the pump bottle and the jar pricing/ quantity are terrible.

It contains alcohol which dries skin out and weakens its barriers. The jar is a fail, a pump would be more hygienic so the moisturizer isn’t exposed to the air every time you open it plus the fact you are dipping your fingers into it. Glad it works for you! It’s very nice but an alcohol free formula and a pump packaging would make it better.

I have only tried a few samples, and will be buying the pump. The fragrance is nice, I would like it in a perfume/cologne spray. Thanks for the great blog and commentary.

What is best product any brand for super dry facial skin? No other issues just super dry? I am 61 and fair. I have tried so many products. I always feel tight as though i have sunburn. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. And i do exfoliate.
