Physicians Formula Mineral Wear Cushion Correct + Primer Duo ($14.99) is a new talc-free cushion corrector that contains two shades that act to brighten, ease dullness and redness, and discolorations. This isn’t a near idea as Lancome Miracle CC Cushion Color Correcting Primer launched last Spring and Korea has a slew of different correcting cushions just like this such as the Etude House Precious Mineral Magic Any Cushion. But what sets Physicians Formula Mineral Wear Cushion Correct + Primer Duo apart and makes it very, very unique is the fact it holds not one correct shade but two!

I love this idea, I love this formula, I love everything about it. I’m a fan of Physicians Formula Mineral Wear Talc-Free All-in-1 ABC Cushion Foundation and I had an inkling they’d do something new cushion released for Spring 2017. But I guessed wrong, as I thought it would be cushion blushes! Turns out it was correctors but don’t worry, I bet cushion blushes aren’t far behind.

There are two compacts available each of which contains two shades. I know right? TWO shades, inside one compact! How? What? Where? Yup, there are two cushion correctors inside the one palette. The first palette contains yellow that corrects dark circles and dullness and green to correct redness! I didn’t purchase this as I have no use for the green corrector but I have to admit, I’d have loved to try out the yellow The second compact contains Peach and Lavender shades which act to brighten darkness and dullness.

This comes housed in a chunky dual compartment compact that has a pin cushion quilted design on top. Opening the palette reveals the mirror and a dual-sided air cushion sponge that has a handle. You have to love this sponge because Physician’s Formula ingeniously created it with two different shades so, you’ll never mix up the shades you use it with. One side is purple for use with the lavender corrector and the other is peach to use with the peach corrector. Cool right?

Beneath the applicator is a lid which pops open to reveal the cushion. The cushion is split down the middle but does not contain a separator to separate the two shades. I’ve been using it daily and aside from having a tiny bit of trouble at first wriggling the applicator sponge, I wouldn’t say the shades mingled or mixed in anyway. They remained separated and didn’t leak into each other. As I said, at first the sponge was a little hard to work with but I got used to swipe one side and swiping the other easily enough after a few uses. And of course, you can always use fingers or a brush to apply the shades. The sponge is a little dense compared to other cushions but the corrector flows easily.

These are sheer but I don’t mind at all. If they were pigmented I think they would make me look pasty. Although sheer both shades managed to brighten and ease my dull and wore well under my foundation. You can either use these before foundation to correct dullness or considering they are so sheer you can easily use them as a natural makeup to brighten up your skin tone. Apply a little blush and you’re good to go!

The consistency is runnier and thin but it absorbs easily into my skin without adhering to drier areas. The formula is lightly hydrating but can easily be worn by all skin types without being shiny or greasy. This contains an SPF 20 but honestly, you might want to use your own SPF prior to application.

We were bombarded with correctors last year to a point most of us got sick of the launches but Physicians Formula Mineral Wear Cushion Correct + Primer Duo managed to take a tired trend and make it fresh, unique, and interesting again.

Physicians Formula Mineral Wear Cushion Correct + Primer Duo is worth picking up if you desire a little sheer correcting prior to makeup application.

Physicians Formula Mineral Wear Cushion Correct + Primer Duo are launching now at drugstores and should be available soon at Ulta.com.

I have to say, I think I would have liked separate compacts. I think I would be heavy handed and I would mix the two. But, I will give this a try anyway. Looks interesting!

I’m pretty heavy-handed with everything Sarah and so far, haven’t had an issue with the shades mixing! I struggled a little with the applicator at first as it was hard to swipe one shade but I got a knack for it after a few tries 😀

This is the sort of thing I’d want to buy but would talk myself out of it, assuming it couldn’t actually work. I’m glad you reviewed it!

if you’re looking to brighten but not necessarily conceal issues you’ll like it 🙂

Funny, I wanted to pick up the green but didn’t need the yellow. Looked around hoping to find the green paired w/something else but nada. I like that they are sheer. Just picked up the Lancome Miracle Cushion compact which I’m liking a lot. Didn’t think I would like the cushion idea, now I want to try other items with it.

haha yeah! 🙂 I wanted the yellow but not the green!!!!!! 😀 Oh do! You should try cushion foundation 🙂 it’s fab!

I was interested in this, but the weakness of that peach shade is talking me out of it. Also the SPF doesn’t really make sense to me. I only use correctors in targeted areas, and I would not want an uneven application of sunblock. But thank you for saving me money. 🙂

I got this today at CVS! It was spend $15 get $10 extra bucks. It ended up being around $7.00 minus the extra bucks! I can’t wait to play with it.

  • Alicie

This is awesome! I can never pick one shade to invest in. I wish you could pick which two shades but at this price I can’t complain… I do have redness on the sides of my nose and darkness under eyes (both genetics what can you do). So green and peach would be nice but I have the NYX corrector palette and the PF yellow and green cream correctors so I might get the cushion peach/lavender! Riteaid so often has BOGO75% off of BOGOFree on PF too!

Sorry! Should be flowing into stores. I don’t really know which locations or states get it or when sadly. I’ve seen it at CVS as well as Harmons if that helps!

I just bought this but I don’t know how to use it ? I know how I would use the green and the yellow but this color combo has me confused… where/why would I put it? What’s it for?

    • Isabella Muse

it for duller skin and is meant to be used to brighten up the skin tone. Purple is good down the sides of the face, near the jaw line blended up, this is where I experience shadowing. peach is good down the sides of the nose and below the sockets of the eye to brighten.
