Physicians Formula Organic Wear Bright Booster Oil Elixir ($16.95) is a new “100% Natural Origin” facial oil that contains a host of floral and fruit oils to hydrate and brighten your skin tone. I picked this up at CVS about two and a half weeks ago and I thought I’d share my review and thoughts about Physicians Formula Organic Wear Bright Booster Oil Elixir today!

Josie Argan broke into the beauty world with her introduction of Argan Oil and about two years after that every high end and mid-range brand was creating their own variations. Facial oil, like contouring and highlighting, is a lasting beauty trend that’s been cemented in the world of skincare. In 2014, for the first time, we started to see drugstore brands introduce their own facial oil formulas and Physicians Formula Argan Wear Ultra-Nourishing Argan Oil was one of the first drugstore brands to break into the trend. Need to say Physicians Formula went all out and also introduced blush, lipglosses, BB Cream, mascara, and a host of other makeup products that were infused with Argan Oil. Hey, if Josie can put it into everything why can’t Physicians Formula right?

I actually really liked Physicians Formula’s take on Argan Oil. They added nothing to it, it was simply argan oil! No fragrance, no unusual ingredients, just pure argan oil. Let’s face it, brands like to get a little creative with their skincare offerings and start adding fragrance and a host of ingredients that aren’t always beneficial to our skin. Physcian Formula kept it pure and simple.

Physicians Formula Organic Wear Bright Booster Oil Elixir is filled with a good deal of fantastic oils that should be beneficial to your skin like Camellia Seed Oil, Grape Seed Oil, Sunflower Seed Oil, and a host of other plant, floral, and fruit oils.

This comes housed in a pretty white glass bottle decorated with a pretty floral design. After I’m done with the oil I plan I using a little nail polish remover to see if I can take off the name of the product as well as the Organic Wear emblem and just leave the pretty floral motif. I thought it would look rather lovely on my vanity and I can refill it with facial oil. The bottle is 1 oz in size and contains a dropper for application. I think essential oils in general at a health food store are considerably cheaper than this bottle but drugstore always have sales so, you’ll likely never spend the full $17 dollars on this.

When I originally purchased it, it almost seemed like it was geared towards being more of a Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Oil . They call it lightweight and fast-absorbing. They also suggest using it every morning to boost radiance. I gotta tell you, I’m dry, but I really can’t use facial oil in the morning. It just doesn’t wear well under makeup and makes my makeup fade fast. It also leaves me feeling rather greasy and shiny. This oil in particular in very thick and very hydrating. A little drop is all you need for super hydration. But it isn’t something I’d use in the morning as it’s a bit too rich for me to use in the AM. But as a night treatment? Sure! I love it! It makes my skin super smooth, soft, and hydrated. I can’t say I experienced brightening from it but I find most times with skincare that promises a “brighter” look it mostly means that the hydrating factor will ease dullness and your skin will appear brighter. I know I have dry, dull skin and moisture goes a long way at making my skin look much brighter and a lot less dull. Compared to Physicians Formula Argan Oil this is considerably more hydrating and richer. For sensitive users, it does have a light herbal fragrance but it is fragrance-free so, what you’re smelling is the natural essential oils scent.

All in All, Physicians Formula Organic Wear Bright Booster Oil Elixir didn’t quite deliver on the brighter and more radiant skin tone it promises but it does offer super hydration in the form some excellent plant oils and antioxidants. I can’t say I’d use it in the day to boost radiance but I am using it happily at night to keep my skin hydrated and soft.

Physicians Formula Organic Wear Bright Booster Oil Elixir is launching now at drugstores and should be available soon at Ulta.com.
Anyone try it?

This is most definitely on my list to buy. I can’t find some of the new spring releases. I will be on the look out. Probably don’t remember, but I am hitting NYC in February. Dinner is on me. Can’t wait. But very cold. Where the heck are my Uggs??

    • Isabella Muse

Sarah, this one doesn’t have a special display so you could miss it. It’s actually in a stand of display at CVS, I almost missed it, so take an extra look next time you are there 😀 Haha can’t wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh girl you are going to need them! It’s brutal here the last few days, today is a little less cold but still damn cold 😀

      • Sarah

Omg, I have the heat on and the low is 44. What can I say, I’m a Florida girl. I am in Tallahassee and it does get very cold. Well, for Florida. I have many uggs and North Face jackets. I grew up in South Florida where people would crank up the heat if the temp got below 65. At least now, I put the heat on at 50 or so. I’m learning. I still think flip flops are a year round shoe. Ha.

This is a really impressive list of oils. I’m always tempted to buy oils, but my skin just doesn’t like them, even at night. They don’t all clog my pores, but I can’t get over that oily film, like there’s something on top of my moisturizer. It drives me nuts. Haha!

    • Isabella Muse

Gosh I wish I could say I relate but my pores are non-existent! My issue is dryness, dry, dry, driest 😀

  • CAROL G.

Nice! Yes that bottle is too cute. Will be on the lookout for this. It’s nice that it is just pure oils nothing wonky added.

  • Jean

I’ve been using this for a few weeks now, but mostly as a cleansing oil mixed with EO Everyone unsecented moisturizer. I started using moisturizer as a cleanser a while back. This oil is thick so I thought it would work well as a cleanser. I have had problems with jojoba oil causing blocked pores, so I don’t like using too much.

I have also mixed this with rose water to thin it out, which works well for me. I too am very dry, mature skin.

I still really like the PF pure Argan Oil and the Argan with coconut water.

    • Isabella Muse

Cleansing oil really? Did it work? Curious minds! It is very thick! I was surprised they recommend it for AM use.

      • Jean

I only use it for cleansing without makeup.

I can’t say how effective it would be for makeup removal, and it would be pretty expensive to use daily.

  • Adrienne

I’m so glad you reviewed this
I actually saw it on a display in the middle of the Christmas candy aisle but I picked up the primers. I will go back and purchase this while they still have a sale. Thanks so much.

  • Deb

Like you Muse I have dry skin and am always looking for that next best thing that will really hydrate. I just haven’t had any luck with the thicker oils, for some reason they won’t ever fully absorb on my skin. Based on your review, I bought the Goodal water oil and OMG! Awesomeness in a bottle. I layer it with my other products in the same order you do and it really pumps up the volume. Perfect for daytime and under makeup. Thank you for showcasing that one!!

    • Isabella Muse

Hey Deb! I don’t mind thicker oils at night but lord not in the day haha! 😀 So glad to hear it! You need to try out Hadalabo Hyaluronic Milky Lotion! It’s fab for plumping and hydrating skin 😀 So glad you’re loving the Goodal Water Oil 😀 def a fav of mine! can I just say I love reading comments like this? Always makes me smile when someone likes something I do! hehe!

  • genevieve

Well, it was you Isabella that got me onto the PF Argon oil and many bottles later I am still using and loving it. I always have a couple of spares as I NEVER want to run out.
I will take a look at this product when it comes to Aus. and see how it goes.
Like you, I cannot use these oils for am, only at night time. Physicians Formula is really hard to get here – it is only sold in one shop, Priceline – a beauty budget shop, and it is hardly ever on sale.

    • Isabella Muse

I think you’ll find this considerably heavier and thicker compared to the Argan one 😀 LMK what you think when/if you try!

  • Silvia

The floral is certainly pretty. I think another item I will get just like the bedutiful rose blushes from Milani. So! So very pretty! I’m a sucker for flower anything!

  • Paula

I love PF and facial oils in general, but this burned my cheeks! I’ve never had that happen. It felt good going on, but after a couple of uses, my cheeks were red and felt sunburned. I’m so sad. The bottle is beautiful.

  • Sarah

Wow, I’m late to the game, but I purchased this last week at Target and I have been using it every night for a week. It is thick. I am 40 and I still get breakouts and I have fairly oily t-zone, so I was worried about that. So far, so good. I would say, If you have skin like mine, skip the moisturizer and just do the oil, not both. Way too much. Overall for 15.00$, I think it’s a great moisturizer. I also like to use it on the back of my hands. Just a FYI.

    • Isabella Muse

yay happy to see you experienced the same as I did! I thought it was very rich as well. I was surprised they suggested it as an AM treatment as this is way too much for daily use!

  • Kiernan

Well Well I Well I am extremely late to this game haha I actually just got this yesterday and was looking for reviews of it before before I use it because it is thick and I have combination skin so I didn’t want to add a ton of oil to my face and apply makeup just to watch it melt if my face in the summer heat but I think thinking will try using it at night or maybe during the day on make up free home days for extra hydration. I also got their argan oil and the argan oil with coconut water primer. Have you tried the primer?? What are your thoughts on it?? Kinda scared it will make me oily under make up….. I have mattifying drops I could use after it soaks in if need be but just wondering lol!! I have the PF butter bronzers as well as eye primers and a few other staples in my routine from them so I wanted to try more haha any thoughts on other products from them?? I need to go on your full site not just this review and a check you out. I really like what you have to say!! THANKS!!

  • Robin

    Hi!
I just purchased this yesterday and for the life of me I can’t figure out how to get it open. I feel so silly. Thanks for the help.

      • Robin Auten

LOL….figured it out yesterday. It had been very hard to twist so I wasn’t sure and I didn’t want to break it.

i went looking for the new physician’s formula foundation and found this on clearance for $3.82! I knew nothing about it but after i read the ingredients, I bought both bottles that were left! Reading your review along with other positive ratings I’ve found makes me happy I took advantage 🙂

  • Amber

By far the most detailed, easily explained, and thorough yet to the point review! You left nothing out!! I also love the fact you explained the brightening factor is more a hydration effect of the oil. I am new to face oils and this is the second one I’ve tried. I absolutely love it! You nailed it right on the head! Although I do like to use it as a primer in the morning, my make up lasts all day without fading, creasing, or transfer. I wish I found you sooner!!! Thank you for the great content!!
