Sonia Kashuk Leaves Target Brand

Sonia Kashuk Facet-nating Ten-Piece Brush Set

As you know Sonia Kashuk’s social media accounts have been mysteriously closing down. Allegedly Sonia is stepping down from her Target brand. I don’t see an official release about this news but a few people mentioned that she made an announcement on Facebook about it. There’s also one on her Instagram that states she’ll be stepping down as the creative director of the brand!

Update: Sonia’s line is now completely clearanced at Target and they will no longer be carrying the color cosmetics but makeup bags and brush sets will be available going forward.

I know as of now most of her social accounts are closed and soniakashuk.com leads to www.target.com. Where as before it lead directly to her official site.

Like many of you, I have been a long time fan of Sonia’s Target Makeup Collection. Her seasonal releases are stellar and her permanent collection is pretty darn brilliant as well. I’m just making a prediction but I think Target will likely keep Sonia’s products around however, I think it’ll be limited to her makeup bags and brushes. I’m doubtful they’ll be seasonal color collections as there once were and I feel at some point they may even completely eliminate her permanent line to make room for some other upcoming brand. I hope I’m wrong.

It comes with great shock that Bobbi Brown is also stepping down at the end of 2016 and now Sonia too? I wonder what other sad news the makeup world has in store for us before 2017 arrives.

I won’t be a bit surprised if the brand is shuttered altogether, ever since the news of the SK social media accounts closing down. I mean, who does that in this day and age unless they are either closing or being totally overhauled? It’s too bad since she had some very nice products. 🙁

    • Isabella Muse

I think they’ll keep the accessories probably. The bags and brushes but not the color stuff!

      • Susan

That would be nice if they at least kept the bags and brushes.

Let’s see…. beauty company news this year — Sonia Kashuk is MIA, Too Faced sold out to a conglomerate, Bobbi Brown is stepping down…. what else?!?

        • Isabella Muse

Not a GOOD end of the year to say the least. I see them potentially keeping those on as an accessory add on of sorts but her perm line? I dunno! They’ll maybe phase it out!

  • bella

I am not thrilled about Bobbi Stepping down as I feel she was an innovator. Also, I am sure Estee Lauder is upset about recent sales. I used to buy lots of Bobbi, but this year I didn’t buy anything except a lip gloss. I feel that the prices are almost like Tom Ford, but the quality — is not great. I buy a lot of end makeup and feel like I was being gauged one dollar at a time!! As the prices would go up one to two dollars on the same thing every year with less product!! Seriously over it!

    • Isabella Muse

I’m not either! I concur, Bobbi’s the creative force behind the brand! and likewise on the prices, I never minded the prices before but the quality has become increasingly bad over the last three to five years 🙁

  • Rachel

I love her brushes, so I am praying they stay. I’m also a huge fan of the eye makeup remover and a couple other skincare products – I’ll be crushed if they disappear!

  • chibi639

The second the line goes on sale, I’m hoarding as many backups of my favorites as possible.

  • Dee

I think I’m more upset about this than Bobbi Brown stepping down. I didn’t always want to spend on BB products but SK was a different story and I loved seeing the seasonal products. How sad!!

  • Dita

Em cosmetics is closing December 29th. I’ve never used their brands but I have read your reviews on how you love their concealer!
On the youtube video it says that you can use promo code FINALSALE for 75% off sitewide (www.emcosmetics.com) starting at 12:00AM PST on December 21, 2016. I might just buy a tube just to try–since it will be so cheap

  • Shel Rahab

When I first saw the title of your article I assumed it meant Sonia Kashuk the brand was moving to Sephora or something, and no longer at Target.

I love her brushes, nail polish, and limited edition collections!

  • maggie

I remember Sonia saying in an interview several months ago that the Knockout collection would be her final one for Target. I think I remember her saying that the line will continue at Target under her name–she just won’t be involved in it anymore. Target probably owns and runs her social media accounts so that’s why they’re shutting down.

    • Isabella Muse

She actually said Spring 2017 would be her last collection on Instagram. So, maybe she changed her mind?

  • Sissi

I was scared that something will change to the brand- but after researching I found out that Sonia sold the brand already in September 2015 to Target! Yes! 2015! Wow, these deals always happen so quiet that most of us dont even know! I love the nail polishes. Huge fan. Hopefully Target finds another great creative director!

Hi there just wanted to give you a quick heads up.
The words in your content seem to be running off the screen in Chrome.

I’m not sure if this is a format issue or something to do with internet browser compatibility but I figured I’d post
to let you know. The design look great though!
Hope you get the problem resolved soon. Thanks

  • Belle

    Hey there,

So the SK satin matte foundation was what I had been looking for all my life and now it’s gone. lol. Cue the drama.

I loved the coverage because it was comparable to my high res foundation but 1/5 of the price. What would you suggest I replace it with?

    • Isabella Muse

Hi Belle! Sorry 🙁 That sucks. I’ve honestly never used it so, not sure what a good replacement would be! Maybe one of my reader’s uses it and can offer up a suggestion!

    • DW

Hi. Have you checked the website temptalia? It compares products that are similar or are supposed to be; it can be a very useful site — reviews, swatches, etc. (Muse, I hope it’s OK to mention another site; normally I wouldn’t, but I know what it’s like when a person’s go-to product is discontinued.) Best wishes.

  • Alli

I’m like Belle. SK Mattifying Primer is the primer I have been looking for. Finally found it in Nov/Dec and now this?! I’m heartbroken. Any idea what’s close to it?

  • Irene

Desperately looking for lipstick in currant. Found one on line for 20. Not paying that much!

  • Lynn Redner

I too LOVED the tinted moisturizer spf 15. Goes on like silk and looks great and natural. Let me know if anyone has found a good replacement.

  • Amy

One of her lipsticks was one of my all time faves. At the Target here, SK is completely sold out. Now that have a huge NYX display. I love their stuff. So at least there’s that.

  • Stephanie Ramirez

My daughter and I are distraught!! OMG her makeup remover was the BEST!!! I have no idea what to use now…it worked wonders on my waterproof mascara and was like water…no oily or greasy residue. Any suggestions?

  • Jackie Campbell

I have been obsessed with her full Glam lashes and would regularly but any packs I could find at any target I’d go to… I noticed about a month ago that they had “SK” Lashes but the packaging was now super cheap looking and none of the lashes looked like the full Glam… One Google search later and full Glam lashes are no where in sight. I hate when a brand gets sold and the company the buys it starts to make a cheaper inferior product for the sake of profit… So begins my search for a different brand of lashes done

    SUCKS! SUCKS! SUCKS!
Who would know to search for information on SONIA KASHUK when you didn’t need product at the time! I’m talking about RADIANT TINTED MOISTURIZER with SPF 15 in HONEY which I went to buy AT TARGET, and was greeted with the
fact that TARGET was NO LONGER carying it!! As a matter of fact, their was a limited amount of product on the shelf of SONIA KASHUK! Oh, by the way TARGET had discounted products of her line at the beginning of 2018!! WHO WOULD KNOW!!! WHAT A WAY TO GO, PLUS WHAT A WAY TO DO BUSINESS!!! SHAME ON Y’ALL!!

  • RG

Do you have a suggestion of what to buy similar to SONIA KASHUK ~ PINK INNOCENCIA BODY LOTION? I absolutely loved that smell!!

    • Autumn

I loved it too and I always wore the eau de toilette. I’m soooooo bummed and I just found out and nothing else that compares is nearly as affordable. So irritating!

  • SDRamos

I only saw this website now 4/9/2018 and wasn’t sure if SK did left Target or the business has fold up. Her brow pencil is my main thing. After Revlon stopped/discontinued their own eyebrow pencil years ago, I found SK as a replacement but it took me for a long time to find this brand. Now that SK no longer making it, I felt betrayed again. What am I going to do? How I wish I bought more on my last shopping in 2016… so sad…

  • Tiffany

Her perfume purple seductia is my most favorite scent EVER!!!! I get so so many compliments from men and women. I’m SOOOOOOOOO sad! I found one bottle on eBay and some lotion on Amazon and that’s IT!!! So far I found one I like that’s stupidly expensive and doesn’t evwn last as long!

  • Sandy Molock

I am sick that I can no longer get SK Creme Blush. I loved the color “Blossom,” which is a nude pink/coral that goes with everything. The creme is very lightweight and is easily layered to get the perfect coverage. I have yet to find another with the light texture. The ones I’ve tried are too heavy.
Can you please recommend a brand that might have light coverage?

  • Karen Leigh

Do you know where I can get Sonia Kashuk’s perfumes or are they completely discontinued everywhere?

    • Isabella Muse

Sonia’s entire line is discontinued aside from makeup brushes and bags.

    • Isabella Muse

Sonia line is completely discontinued aside from makeup bags and brushes they put her name on. She stepped down as the director of the brand but there was no explanation give why the color cosmetic side of the brand was being discontinued. One day they started deleting social accounts and it was over after that sadly!

  • Joanne

I love the threads here. I thought I’d bought enough eyebrow pencils to last a lifetime but I’ve already outlived my supply. Every other cosmetic brand’s concept of ‘taupe’ is totally different. I have one pencil left and it’s in my travel bag. Thinking of going to the ULTA store where I can do a real comparison on my skin.

    • Isabella Muse

aw thanks! It’s nice to hear that! Oh no sorry to hear it! I hope you find a new brow pencil to love!

  • Sheila

Hello Isabella. I used to use Sonia Kashuk’s (I think it’s technically eye liner) eye brow pencil. The pencil is white and the product color is taupe. Since it’s been hard to find, I started to experiment with other brands such as benefit and Malloy and even drug store brands but I can’t find anything that I like as much. Do you where I can purchase this or something just as good?

    • Isabella Muse

Honestly, I’m no familiar with the pencil so I cna’t really recommend a good dupe sadly. If you’re looking for a good brow pencil, It Cosmetics does a good one also the fiber gel from Benefit is quite good!

  • Cindy Preston

Every time that I shopped in Target, I noticed almost no one buying Sonia’s cosmetics. Also, while shopping at Macy’s, I noticed alomost no one shopping at the Bobbi Brown counter. What I am noticing is the beauty YouTubers are popular and people are buying the cosmetics that they recommend. Most of the brands that the recommend are sold at Sephora and Sonia and Bobbi do not have their lines for sale in that store.

  • Eloise

Am distraught. I love Sonia Kashuk’s radiant tinted moisturizer w/SPF 15 sunscreen (beige) … Can anyone recommend a replacement????

    • DW

I don’t know that product, but I’ve read good reviews of Laura Mercier’s tinted moisturizer — lightweight for summer but with a little coverage. It’ll be pricier, tho … Good luck.

  • Linda M Brannan

Her Jazz Berry lipstick is the most beautiful shade I have ever found anywhere. I got more compliments from friends AND strangers when I wore it. I can’t find it anywhere now and it makes me furious.

    • DW

I’ve been there, and I sympathize. Try this: Swatch a tiny amount on a 1/4 piece of white office paper, then place it in a clear plastic sandwich bag, and keep the other 3/4 of the sheet clean in an envelope — and take all to Sephora, or the MAC counter, or a Clinique counter (they have a decent range of lipsticks) and see whether they can find a match for you. If they swatch likely candidates on the other 3/4 of a sheet, you can keep your “master” swatch safe while seeing which lipsticks come closest.

If those three sources don’t have anything close, maybe try the largest dept. store in your area and go from counter to counter, showing the swatch. (The advantage of swatching on paper is that you’ll use a minimal amount of the original, which you can’t replace.) Good luck.

(Such a useful and fun site, Muse. Best wishes.)
