Chapstick Total Hydration Conditioning Lip Scrub ($4.99) is probably one of my favorite beauty budget picks for 2017. Chapstick recently extended their Total Hydration to include this new fresh peppermint flavored sugar lip scrub that’s formulated with a host of hydrating oils as well as Shea Butter and Vitamin E.

It’s Winter, my lips are chapped. My lips are always chronically dry no matter what but in the colder weather it’s even worst. This little scrub is affordable, effective, and quite fantastic to get my lips smooth, soft, and flake free.

It’s funny as I really think lip scrubs should be essential part of your regime if you’re a long-wearing lipstick kind of girl or guy. Let’s be real, liquid lipstick needs a smooth, soft, and flake-free surface to adhere too and in order to get that surface you definitely need to exfoliate. I know I can’t even begin to think about applying a matte liquid lipstick without proper prepping and priming prior to. Typically that involves exfoliating my lips and putting on some sort of lip balm prior. The exfoliate smooths my lips while the balm acts as a primer of sorts for the lipstick to adhere too.

MAC introduced five new flavored Lip Scrubtious Lip Scrubs today but at $16 each but if you’re strapped for cash or paying near $16 for a single lip scrub makes you mentally cringe, might I introduce you to the fabulous affordable Chapstick Total Hydration Conditioning Lip Scrub?

Chapstick loads up this little pot (0.27 oz) with sugar crystals and a mix of Maracuja and coconut oil as well as shea butter and vitamin E to gently exfoliate your lips. I can’t rave this formula enough. The sugar is chunky but refined enough to easily buff onto your lips without making a mess. The formula has a slight emollient, oiliness which works in your favorite to not only exfoliate but also to hydrate lips as you use the scrub. The fresh peppermint flavor is crisp, cooling, and quite delicious when mixed with the sugar.

To use the scrub, simply wet your lips, scoop a small amount onto your finger, and gently buff into your lips for a few minutes! After simply wipe off and follow up with your favorite hydrating lip balm (Chapstick has a Total Hydration Lip Balm too!). This formula made my lips smooth, soft, and it removed the flaky build up from around my lip line and on my lips easily so my favorite lipsticks look smooth, even, and beautiful.

It’s funny as Chapstick has evolved SO much in recent years. I’m really loving all the new product launches they have! Have you tried the Chapstick Duos yet? Those are pretty fab. I was thinking and being hopeful that Chapstick will expand their Total Hydration Conditioning Lip Scrub to include other flavors in the future.

Chapstick Total Hydration Conditioning Lip Scrub is delightfully inexpensive and a fantastic beauty tool to get your lips smooth and soft. It’s a must for those that are embracing the current long-wearing matte lipstick trend.

Get it now at Target, Target.com, or at shopchapstick.com.

Oh, that’s good to hear. I’m almost out of my lip scrub (Bliss Fabulips, which was OK, IMO, but I’m not keen to repurchase) and was considering a more budget option. I noticed this one just recently — was in the Target Beauty Box for January (but the box was $10 and this was the only product I wanted). I noticed (somewhere) that Milani has a new lip scrub. Do you think you’ll review that one?

    • Isabella Muse

Oh awesome, I didn’t even realize it was in the box and I posted about that box haha! I haven’t seen that in stores yet, been hunting, but def will review it when I find it 😀

Yeah, I was excited that this was in the Target box this month because I love a good lip scrub. This sounds great. Can’t wait to try it!

I’m curious about this. I ordered one of the Target beauty boxes and it’s supposed to have one of these. It can’t come soon enough considering that it’s January.
I also just ordered something I found on Sephora.com, a lip balm and scrub. They kind of remind me of what Milani was rolling out a couple years back with oils, with a tangerine one, a coconut one, an almond, a rosehip, goji berry, etc., but as balms instead of oils. I opted for the honey one, since it’s a scrub and I love honey for lip treatments.

Love to see you’re a fellow lip scrub lover! 😀 I use one every day, all year as I think it is a key product for youthful looking lips , and youthful lips are a key to a youthful face. Even tinted lip balm looks better after!

I’m glad you like this one. It sounds like it might be a lot like my fav scrub by Tarte with the maracuja oil.

  • Dee

Much better price wise than the mac! I like elf lip exfoliant but will, definitely give this a try.

My lips are always dry and cracked since I moved up here. I bought this yesterday. Gonna give it a try tonight.

I wish it wasn’t peppermint. I avoid mint and menthol in my lip products at all costs. They just dry out my lips.

Was close to pulling the trigger on the MAC Scrub during their 2/1 free lip event in June, but held off. Just opened my Allure Beauty Thrills and received borh the Chapstick Scrub and a Total Hydration Moisture + Tint in Merlot.

I agree that Chapstick is stepping up their game and no longer just a boring lip balm producer. Excited to have both products. Love a dark lip but being fair/blonde/over 40, dark lippies are hard for me to pull off without looking clown-ish. The Merlot tint will be lovely on my freshly buffed lips. Thanks for the review, it helps immensely !

yay happy to hear you’re enjoying this more budget friendly pick Jodi ;-D My pleasure xoxox 🙂 glad the review was helpful!
