Dior Lip Sugar Scrub Sweet Exfoliating Balm Because Tinted Lip Scrubs Are In At the Moment

Everyone and their mom has a new lip scrub coming out for Spring 2017. Milani, Chapstick, MAC, and of course, Dior.

Dior Lip Sugar Scrub Sweet Exfoliating Balm ($33) might beg the question, “Why is my lip scrub tinted?” Yeah, well, I can’t answer that one. This stick lip scrub has a grainy texture that instantly scrubs away dead skin cells to reveal soft, smooth lips. But it also acts to give your lips a rosy flush of color. Hmmm……! When MAC Lip Scrubtious Lip Scrubs arrived everyone was like, “WAIT, Why are they tinted?” So, apparently scrubbing away dead skin cells and leaving you with a hint of tint is the new lip scrub trend of the season.

I admit I don’t see the point…!

What do you think?

I agree. Plus, why pay $33 for a lip scrub? It’s like you said, why does makeup REMOVER cost so much (here’s looking at you BiFacil from Lancome)? We are taking off makeup it shouldn’t cost that much to undo it all!

It’s odd! The entire tinted lip scrub thing! I use it at night so def don’t need my lips tinted after use!

Sometimes I feel like things are so outrageous that companies think we have lost our minds. There are so many cheaper scrubs out there and I own 6 million glosses/tints to apply afterwards. Tarte makes an amazing one. Smells good and works so well.

I went over to my local Dior counter to look for a different product, but the sales woman showed me the lip scrub and put some on me. She went on and on about how you can wear it just by itself or under lipstick, and how you don’t have to wipe it off. I noticed zero color when it was applied. Also, I see no reason why you wouldn’t wipe off a lip scrub. Unless you want lip scrub bits and flecks of dead skin on your lips all day…

I guess the point would be that if they are tinted, perhaps you would feel more like you’re buying an actual lip color and not “just” a scrub, and so you are more prone to give them your cash (?)! Having said that, I’m a lip scrub h00r and could I afford it, I would be all over this, and probably the MAC one as well :s 😀

    I should be ashamed I know :s 😀

  • lara / the glossarie.

this one is a stretch for the price point, but i would prefer to use a stick version vs. stick my finger in a tinted pot and run around with a red-stained finger all day…i do like the combo idea of tint plus scrub (i think).

Dior already have a product called Lip Glow which I discovered in 2008. It’s a balm that can be used alone or under lipstick to enhance the tone of any lipstick. On its own it gives a your lips a blush of colour. I don’t know about the other brands so much but this is a Lip Glow with sugar to exfoliate the lips & you can use it any time of day. It doesn’t have to be removed. But if you want to take it off after you’ve applied it…take it off.

yeah I know, I’ve reviewed Dior Lip Glow a few times in the past on the site.

Ok that’s great. I think it’s not clear for some people that this balm in particular gives the added benefits of a lip glow as in a few threads people seem surprised about the build up of colour. I just got the scrub version a couple days ago so I’m still trying it out. I love lip glow so thought I’d try this but notice the original gets better with use & so I’m hoping same goes here!

It’s a unusual and unique product that’s for sure! Let me know how it goes after you’ve tested 😀
