Lipstick Queen Famous Last Words Matte Liquid Lipstick ($24) is a new elastic matte lipstick formula created to allow your lips to move and breath during the wear without drying them out. I can’t say I remember Lipstick Queen ever having a liquid lipstick and as a makeup junkie who isn’t quite a fan of long-lasting lipstick I still felt compelled to purchase one as if anyone is going to do a liquid lipstick right I felt for sure it would be Lipstick Queen.

There are definitely makeup hacks to remove liquid lipstick through the day but I actually just prefer regular old lipstick or lipgloss myself. I feel somewhat constrained by wearing lipstick for 8 or more hours straight. Also, I like being able to easily wipe off any lip product I’m wearing and reapply it easily. Liquid lipsticks definitely aren’t as cut and dry as simply wiping them away. Don’t get me wrong, some formulas do impress but in most cases I find them drying and difficult to remove!

But let’s see how I feel about Lipstick Queen Famous Last Words Lipstick Lipstick!

See my review and swatches below.

Lipstick Queen Famous Last Words Matte Liquid Lipstick is available in six shade selections and comes in a standard square bottle with a doe foot applicator for application. These weight in at 0.19 oz each in size.

I picked up the shade Sayonara which is a gorgeous brick red that I absolutely adored. The color is the exactly type of red I like as it isn’t too cool nor too warm.

This formula is quite thin and easy to apply. I’m prone to drier lips and I had no issues with color clinging to drier areas or falling into my natural lip lines nor did it migrate of feather during the initial application. I was very at ease with the application and never felt I was tugging or struggling as I applied. It went on smoothly and evenly on my first try and I didn’t even prep at the time and it still applied very, very well. The color is pigmented and opaque on a single layer and has a slight shine versus a full matte finish. I was fine with the tiny hint of shine as I don’t really like a traditionally all matte look on my lips. The lipstick remains a little tacky during the initial application and stays this way for several minutes during the set. If I put my lips together and smacked them I kind of felt like they were sticking together. After about 10 to 15 minutes the color settled and the tackiness disappeared. I never felt uncomfortable wearing the lipstick (aside from the few minutes of tackiness) nor did I feel it was sucking moisture from my lips but it didn’t add moisture either. It seems to have a buttery vanilla-like scent but I didn’t notice a flavor.

I wore it for 10 hours straight and it wore fairly well without migration of feathering issues. Although you do have to wait several minutes for it to set before attempting to eat or drink as i will transfer during that first 10 to 15 minutes. Once set it locks down and doesn’t move. I didn’t experience issues with the color fading during the wear but at around hour eight I did notice that color migrated a little too the corners of my mouth. Color did not flake nor crack. It does need an oil based remover of some sort to get off at the end of the night.

All in all, Lipstick Queen Famous Last Words Liquid Lipstick is quite lovely. The formula is thin, easy to apply, and wears comfortably even on drier lips. There is a slight wait time for the color to set but once set it doesn’t feather nor migrate and wears strongly for several hours without the need for touch ups!

I liked it. Mind you it hasn’t changed my mind about long-wearing lipsticks, I’m a traditional kind of girl, but the formula proves that long-wearing lipsticks are evolving for the better.

Sounds nice and thanks for the removal “hacks” link!

I think I might buy So Long as that seems more my kind of shade.

I usually read you irregularly , in binge mode. Thanks for this one, as I check the LQ site irregularly as well. This looks like a good one. Being OLD (yeah, I had all of Poppy King’s seven deadly sins, the original l/s 20 years back, not the current incarnation) liq lips can be a major challenge, not to look shrink wrapped. Usually do 2 prebalming rounds now. These sound quite doable. I want to compliment you on your eclecticism, forthrightness, and open mindedness. You were one of the first to bring us AB/KB, esp on the color end. The ingredients shots are great, too. A little Cosdna, and we have a true, predictable view of the product. Where else can we run the gamut from BPAL to WNW to Asian only Dior offerings? As I said, eclectic. Thanks. Will check your removal hacks… had on a CP ultra matte, whisked a cotton pad with Garnier blue cap micellar, then took a bath, with EVERYTHING, and that sucker was still on, six hours after app, and pseudo removal…

Wtf, not up on LQ site. Nyx site does not have pin-up pout, either, just Ulta…but Ulta does not say Ulta exclusive. Gotta wonder. Poppy does have up a set with a chess pieces theme, that looks fairly pigmented and decent. If you try to figure out who has what and why, you’ll either need psychotropic meds or a dunce cap. Ours not to reason why…

I love LQ so may have to indulge at some point but seeing as how I’ve bought several lipsticks lately, might have to wait. 🙂 I agree that the color looks amazing on you!
