NYX Stripped Off Whipped Charcoal Cleanser ($12) is a new whipped, foaming charcoal cleanser that launched with several new NYX skincare products for Spring 2017.

NYX might have been inspired by Asian collagen cleansing foams when creating this. I happen to be a very big fan of Rosette’s Strong Mint Wash and this quite reminds me of that formula (sans the mint). Charcoal has become an increasingly popular ingredient here in the US for it’s apparently ability to attract dirt and oil like a magnet so, it makes quite a few appearances in a variety of cleanses, scrubs, and other skincare products lately.

Let’s take a look at the NYX Stripped Off Whipped Charcoal Cleanser.

NYX Stripped Off Whipped Charcoal Cleanser comes housed in a 3.38 oz tube which will set you back $12. It’s a little pricey at this size but Ulta is having a Buy 1, Get 1 50% Off sale at the moment so that might tempt you to take the plunge.

This is a thick grey-ish black cream cleanser that has a whipped consistency. I use it in a double cleanse after either cleansing oil or cleansing balm as it gets my face really squeaky clean and lifts away any leftover makeup that my cleansing oil might have left behind. Once combined with water it turns white and into a rich, creamy lather which rinses clean away. I like using it in the shower as well as it creates a really rich, thick lather which is always easier to remove when you turn your face into the running water of your shower versus leaning over a sink splashing yourself with water 🙂

The formula makes me a bit tight after use so, I would say it does strip moisture if you’re drier. It does have a very light floral scent which I don’t think is too strong for sensitive users.

Yeah, it’s a bit drying but I liked NYX Stripped Off Whipped Charcoal Cleanser. It get skin squeaky clean and works great in a double cleanse.

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model.
