Shea Moisture 100% Virgin Coconut Oil Daily Hydration Face Lotion ($14.99) is a new, lightweight coconut milk, shea butter, and coconut oil infused facial moisturizer to sooth and soften skin. I purchased this on a whim along with the new Shea Moisture 100% Virgin Coconut Oil Daily Hydration Overnight Facial Oil at CVS recently.

I’m pretty happy with my Winter AM daily moisturizer of choice already which is Nip + Fab Soften Kale Fix Moisturizer. It’s lightweight, highly moisturizing, and wears well under makeup. But I’m always game on cheating on my favorite products when something new pops up.

Here’s my thoughts and review on Shea Moisture 100% Virgin Coconut Oil Daily Hydration Face Lotion.

Shea Moisture 100% Virgin Coconut Oil Daily Hydration Face Lotion is delightful but the packaging sucks. This comes in a 3 oz bottle with a pump but for some reason I have to shake the bottle each time to get the product to squirt out. I’m not sure if it is broke, a fluke, or if every bottle experiences this issue but it is driving me crazy and I thought it deserved mentioning.

Aside from the faulty packaging I actually loved this and can see myself easily using it daily. This one apparently contains a host of good hydrating ingredients like shea. It was created to not only hydrate skin but keep moisture locked in.

The formula reminds me of a thick, light whipped body cream. Don’t worry, it breaks down and becomes delightfully thinner during application and absorbs instantly into skin leaving it soft, smooth, and very nicely hydrated. It wears nicely under makeup and doesn’t leave behind a greasy residue nor does make me shiny. The hydration factor is just the right amount for my dry skin in the day without being too heavy. For sensitive users, it does have a light, fresh coconut-like scent which I found rather pleasantly.

If you live in New York you probably struggle with which skincare to use daily as the weather is quite unpredictable lately. One minute it feels like Spring is popping up and the next the temperature suddenly drops. This is always an issue when I’m rotating my warmer and colder skincare products. This is why I really like products like Shea Moisture 100% Virgin Coconut Oil Daily Hydration Face Lotion. It’s lightweight enough to wear in the warmer weather without making me shiny, absorbs easily, yet still it provides plenty of moisture for my drier skin.

Shea Moisture 100% Virgin Coconut Oil Daily Hydration Face Lotion is a fab little moisturizer that should be suitable for a host of different skin types. It’s lightweight, absorbs fast, wears well under makeup, and provides plenty of lovely moisture!

Shea Moisture 100% Virgin Coconut Oil Daily Hydration Face Lotion is available now at CVS and and also at Ulta.com and target.com.

Thanks for the review, I love that new and better moisturizers are popping up at the drugstore that won’t hurt my pockets like a high end brand moisturizers. the more options the better, I am going to dry pick this up next time I am in CVS!

I like the sound of this. I’ll give a look for it and give it a try. I use Shea oil in my oil mixture I make. 🙂

Thanks for this review! I live down in Florida but my skin has been really dry lately! I like something that works well in summer and winter. Have you tried the jack black oil yet? I just bought my second bottle. Wonder how this compares to it.

Grumble….. still looking for it to pop up in my local CVSs… But I will hunt til I find it! Both this and the coconut oil you posted about a few days ago…. C’mon CVS – bring ’em in!!

I thought coconut oil is highly comedogenic, right? My skin is crazy dry right now but coconut oil scares the crap out of me. It doesn’t cause breakouts?

for blemish prone skin yes, I’m drier, with less visible pores. Also, coconut oil is very low on the list of ingredients here. But it you’re blemish prone and have larger pores that clog easily, it might be a good skip!

This sounds good I love everything coconut!! My favorite ice cream. My son brought me a real nice nice bottle of virgin baby coconut from Indonesia (went to study music) so I still have plenty left when I run out I’ll sure look for this. I also love spreading it all over after shaving legs and rest of body, arms, elbows. Is so good!

This looks lovely! I might grab it to use as my PM moisturizer since it doesn’t have SPF. I don’t have super dry skin, so I’m thinking it might be just the right amount of moisture. 🙂 Love this brand.

I ordered this, the face mask (which is wonderful, btw) and the shampoo and conditioner. I absolutely love it! You should also try the Dragonblood one at Ulta. I don’t like that it’s in a jar, but I love it anyway. 🙂

yay happy to hear about the mask, haven’t tried it yet! I’ll give it a try, saw it but didn’t try it yet 😀

Picked this up tonight at CVS. My face has been dry since using differen and benzoyl peroxide. I washed with yes to coconut melting cleanser an applied this. No burning or stinging with this moisturizer! Absorbs well and my skin feels soothed. Fragrance was a liitle strong at first but it’s natural, not synthetic. Can’t wait to see how it performs under make-up tomorrow. By the way , Isabella, this is an awesome blog! I have spent the last to hours reading about skincare. So glad I found this site! You have drugstore to high end-loving it

Muse! I grabbed this lotion at CVS (couldn’t find it at Ulta or Target) the other day, and I really like it.

I had pump issues also. I think it’s because the lotion is somewhat think and the pump’s tube and opening are super tiny. I thought my index finger was going to fall off from pumping so many times. Even if I shake the bottle, it still takes 5ever, but it’s worth it!

It took me forever to track down, though. It seems like only select locations carry it, and I really needed a good PM moisturizer. I mix it with Garnier Moisturizing Gel Cream (also a Muse-inspired purchase that I’ve bought several times) to thin it out a bit.

Thanks for the rec! Your Muse Approved products are always a win for me.

will this product go “out of date” I think I’ve had mine for over 2 years and not sure if I should continue using it. I forgot I had it and it got lost in a drawer 🙁

    • Isabella Muse

check the bottom of the bottle it should have a little open bottle with and a number that says 6 mos, 12mos etc…that’s typically how long you can use it after it is open. It’s likely expired after two years though as most cream products go off after a year.
