Skinfood Premium Lettuce & Cucumber Watery Essence ($18) is a perfect beginner essence if you’re just starting to add an essence to your skincare routine.

I’ve been a longtime fan of Skinfood’s Lettuce & Cucumber Skincare Collection since trying the Lettuce and Cucumber Water Jelly Cream several years ago. It’s always treated my drier skin well by hydrating it and helping it to retain moisture. I especially love it in the Summer when I need something lighter yet still hydrating without being greasy or shiny.

I’ve probably used this essence as long as I have the water jelly cream. It’s always one of my favorite go to essences for AM use and I think it’s a rather nice introduce essence and perfect essence for beginners who are just starting to understand the benefits of using an essence.

Let’s take a look!

Ulta started carrying Skinfood recently which I find rather delightful as it’s now easier than ever before to get some of my favorites from the brand not to mention you can use coupons plus Ulta recently had a BOGO offer on the line. I can’t express how delightful it is that I can get Skinfood so easily at a local store versus airmail, etc…! Although Skinfood does have freestanding stores in the US, one of which used to be located in the Palisades Mall. You might want to check out their website to see if a store is in you area. But I still recommend Ulta as you can use coupons plus items go on sale, etc…!

Skinfood Premium Lettuce & Cucumber Watery Essence is a lightweight, gel-like serum which can be applied as one of the first steps in your skincare routine. It has a light fresh cucumber scent that’s quite pretty but might be a little too much for sensitive users. It absorbs very easily into skin and preps it for other skincare. This is a nice formula and texture that will get you used to the idea and concept o an essence. You’ll find your moisturizer will absorb a lot more easier when using an essence first and your skin will be much more smoother and softer when using an essence daily. This doesn’t add unnecessary shine nor oil but is lightly hydrating and acts as a primer of sorts for other skincare. I actually tend to use this in the Summer months due to the lighter consistency and moisture it provides. It’s a rather ideal pick for many skin types but particularly oily ones that are scared of adding too much moisture to their face.

If you’re just starting out in the world of essences, I think Skinfood Premium Lettuce & Cucumber Watery Essence is a perfect beginners pick. You’ll find your skin noticable smoother, softer, and much more capable of retaining moisture when used in conjunction with your other skincare.

Try it and let me know what you think!

Or maybe you have already?

Hm, never tried it. I’ve only tried 2 products from Skinfood before, the salmon brightening eye cream and the buckwheat loose powder you reviewed.
Those products were ok, but I didn’t like the packaging, and so I don’t really use them that much. I actually had to throw the eye cream a few weeks ago cuz it had expired.

But I did love using the Innisfree’s green tea moisture skin toner. It’s meant for dry skin, it’s really moisturizing ad lightweight so it works for my oily skin too . I also really liked the Benton snail bee high content essence and the Hera purifying cleansing foam is pretty good too.
