Eye gloss has been trying to make a come back for the past 7 years so, maybe Yves Saint Laurent Eye Gloss Smudger for Spring 2017 might finally get us to some sort of pinnacle where people are actually embracing the glossy eye look.

Now, don’t get me wrong here, as this isn’t your average, everyday eye gloss product. This is actually a glossy top coat that takes your ordinary powder eyeshadows and makes smudges them into a glossy, grungy look. Yeah, so, I dunno how many people are into that “I sleep in my eye makeup and now I look like Courtney Love” look but if that’s your bag, this new Eye Gloss Smudger is for you.

Here’s how it works.

Do your eye makeup as you would any old day! Now dab a bit of the eye gloss smudger on top and gently diffuse your eye look with it. The gloss acts to smudge up your eye look and gives it that uneven, grungy effect. Good look? Possibly. I’ve seen models sport it and it looks amazing! I’m not sure if I could rock the look but I’ve tried eye glosses in the past that have color and they look pretty cool. This particularly formula isn’t tinted but it does give you the option to create a glossy look out of any of your existing powder shadows which makes this very appealing.

How do you feel about the glossy eye look?

Is it a look you’d sport?

Do share!

Yves Saint Laurent Eye Gloss Smudger is available now at nordstrom.com.

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. Rimmel had an eye gloss maybe 15 years ago? (Not like I still have it tucked away in my vast, makeup-I-can’t-bear-to-toss stockpile…). And Rite Aid used to have an exclusive makeup brand long ago called Mira; I had an eye gloss from them, which was so thick & tacky it literally felt heavy on my lids. I tried wearing it as lipstick and it was too thick for that!

I love the look, but it only looks good for as long as you can avoid blinking. I had the Estée/Tom Ford one, but it lasted ten minutes, if that.

I spend too much time as it is to keep my eye shadow in place on my oily lids to spend $30 on a product to make it all slide off 2 seconds after application.

This reminds me of when people were putting vasaline on their eye makeup about 15 years ago. Goes to show everything comes back.

Now, this is just silly. You can accomplish that kind of look without a high end smudger gloss. LOL
