J.Cat Beauty Compact Cushion Foundation Review & Swatches
I picked up one of the new J.Cat Beauty Compact Cushion Foundation ($18) which is a new cushion foundation that the brand introduced that’s available exclusively at Ulta.com. As a fan of cushion makeup I was excited to give this a try. It contains hyaluronic acid which is ideal for my drier skin but still light enough for oily skin as well.
Let’s take a look below at my review and swatches and see how I like this one.
J.Cat Beauty Compact Cushion Foundation is available in eight shade selections and 0.46 oz in size and $18 in price with refills available for $13 each. I think J. Cat is one of the only drugstore brands that have launched refills for their cushion and I absolutely love this as I can easily buy a refill for it.
I picked up the shade Light Beige but it was a little too light for me but nothing I couldn’t work with. There eight shades total available, the Medium Beige might have been a better pick for me but so far, the Light Beige isn’t too bad once I apply the rest of my makeup. This comes housed in the standard chunky double lid compact which features a mirror on the first level as well as a sponge for application. There’s a secondary lid that snaps open to reveal the cushion. If you’ve never used a cushion makeup before it’s simply as it sounds, a cushion that’s saturated with foundation with a soft, squishy texture. You can dip a finger, sponge, or brush into the pan to apply. I typically like a soft fiber brush for application and I run the sponge over my face after buffing with the brush. This has a sheerer to almost medium finish that has a light, creamy texture that absorbs easily into my skin without sitting on top of it or adhering to drier areas. It has a smooth, even finish that’s lightweight and breathable. I liked how this felt on my skin and it had just the right amount of coverage to ease dullness and brighten up my complexion. Pigmentation should be good enough to even out skin tone, tame mild redness or darkness, and conceal minor imperfections. Acne scarring, blemishes, or major redness might not do well with this and require heavier coverage. The wear time was surprisingly good for a cushion makeup as cushion makeup tend to wear a little shorter. I got a nice six hour wear from this without setting with powder.
All in all, J.Cat Beauty Compact Cushion Foundation was quite a lovely cushion with a lightweight formula that wore well on my drier skin. I really enjoyed this formula and thought the creamy texture was easy to work with and looked incredible on my face!
J.Cat Beauty Compact Cushion Foundation is available now exclusively online at Ulta.com.
