It Cosmetics Rose Je Ne Sais Quoi Hydrating Color Awakening Lip Treatment Review & Swatches

It Cosmetics Rose Je Ne Sais Quoi Hydrating Color Awakening Lip Treatment is a new shade that will be launching for the Spring 2017 season shortly. The original Je Ne Sais Quoi Hydrating Color Awakening Lip Treatment was a color transforming shade of pink that launched with the It Cosmetics Top 5 Superstars Holiday Edition Set last November. It has since become available as an individual purchase.

I actually wasn’t terribly impressed with the formula on the original launch but that really didn’t stop me from wanting to try the new rose shade in the hopes that something had changed and perhaps we’d get a more hydrating formula and more color pay off with this new shade.

Let’s check out my thoughts, review, and swatches of the new It Cosmetics Rose Je Ne Sais Quoi Hydrating Color Awakening Lip Treatment below.

Je Ne Sais Quoi is one of It Cosmetics most popular shades of natural pink and it makes an appearance in a variety of different blushes, lip products, etc….It’s a color I’ve always love as it’s that just kissed pink that gives your cheeks a natural, shy flush of color and your lips that just bitten pink. You might recall the Color Stain Stick that It Cosmetics launched a few years ago and that very much reminded me of Je Ne Sais Quoi Hydrating Color Awakening Lip Treatment as it could be used on your face and your lips. However, Je Ne Sais Quoi Hydrating Color Awakening Lip Treatment was created as a lip product only but the Color Stain Stick looks a lot like it.

This is formulated with essentials oil and butters and acts as a lip treatment as well as a way to give lips a hint of natural color. The new shade is a a very pretty dusky rose and comes housed in a darker metallic pink barrel compared to the original shade which means you’ll be able to tell the two apart if you store them together. The packaging is lovely but the formula is disappointing.

I don’t think a lot has changed with this formula and not a lot has improved. I always had hopes this formulation would be more along the lines of perhaps Covergirl Oh Sugar! Lip Balms or even Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment.

This has a balmy texture with a certain waxiness that reminds me of Chapstick. It has a very faint fruit flavor that’s not terribly noticeable but no fragrance that I detected. It has a little but of an easier glide compared to the original formula. I think it disappoints in the fact it delivers very little moisture and only a sheer wash of rose on lips. You might see better pigmentation if your lips are paler but my own are fairly rosy so color didn’t quite show up as intensely as I would like.

Since it’s It Cosmetics, I’ve always expected a lot more from It Cosmetics Je Ne Sais Quoi Hydrating Color Awakening Lip Treatment. There are so many great lip balm options out there but this isn’t really one and not a lot has improved since the original release and the color is bit lackluster.

It Cosmetics Rose Je Ne Sais Quoi Hydrating Color Awakening Lip Treatment launches later this month in a set that will be available at qvc.com.

I never liked it. I didn’t find it moisturizing at all. And no color. Very disappointing.

The shape of it just reminds me of the Maybelline baby lips just way more expensive.

So depressing…. I already ordered the QVC TSV for March 18th and this is in it. It’s OK though. I can throw it in my purse and still get some use out if it. Thank you always for the honest and lovely reviews

aw my pleasure! Have you tried the original formula? Not a lot has changed sadly!

      • Kelli Rae

Yes I have 2 of the originals from TSV’s. Lol! I keep one by my recliner with my lotions and such and the other in my purse they get the job done. Just not the most nourishing formula, but in conjunction with my Tarte lip scrub, it works. Also we can’t deny the packaging is just so pretty. Love the magnetic closure on the top and the color of the tube is darling and the new one I am loving the color of the tube too. Gah, crazy I tell you. Packaging gets me everytime. I have a strong feeling I am not the only one amongst this lovely beauty community LOL!

ha! I know what you mean! I ADORE the metallic tube! It’s so pretty and the closure is fantastic! I just wish the formula was a bit better but yup, damn packaging gets me very single time!

It’s like the TF products in the tin packaging. I know the PB& Honey palette isn’t all that great. But I know when I see it at Ulta on the 19th, I will most likely cave. Lol!!!

haha like me! Purchased it, disappointed, but the packaging! 😀

How much are these? I’ve only tried the It CC cream, which is OK, but these seem too steep. Lipstick Queen makes a better mood lipstick (Hello Sailor, Frog Prince!) for probably about the same price. (These seem like a mood lipstick to me, anyways.)

  • Bonnie

I agree with you, Muse. I got the original in some bundle and was unimpressed, especially at that price point.

I’m a big fan of IT cosmetics but not a fan of Je Ne Sais Quoi. It goes on very pale but after about half an hour it turns bright fuchsia. I was horrified! This new version seems to be following along in the nude trend. I would be willing to give this one a try.
