Yes to Cucumbers 2-Step Eye Kit Buh-Bye Bags & Dark Circles Review
Yes to Cucumbers 2-Step Eye Kit Buh-Bye Bags & Dark Circles ($3.99) is yet another of the two-step masks that I purchased from Yes To because anything that promises to treat my dark circles is worth trying. You see, after trying everything, I’m finally comfortable with the fact you can’t treat dark circles! You have to conceal them! There’s no miracle eye cream that’s going to eliminate dark circles. Believe me, I’ve tried hundreds.
Needless to say, as a skincare junkie I still have a little inkling of hope that somewhere there’s a treatment that will actually work. This is Bastian, tiny grain of sand, Fantasia hope that I’m keeping alive here, people.
Not so much.
I gotta say the two step masks that Yes to To has been introducing are, if nothing else, fun and a step in a good direction. I’m a mask fan girl especially sheet ones and I tend to navigate towards two step masks like the ones My Scheming has available. Basically they include a sheet mask as well as a follow up lotion or essence to be applied after the mask! Love, love, love them so much! Although, they haven’t been doing these a lot lately. How sad!
Anyway, Yes to introduced a few different two step masks for your face, eyes, and even for lips as you might already know after reading my Yes to Coconut 2-Step Lip Kit Pucker Up! Review.
2-Step Eye Kit Buh-Bye Bags & Dark Circles contains a set of essence saturated eye masks that decrease puffiness and smooth the delicate skin of the eyes. The set of masks come in two perforated envelopes. When I ripped open the first envelope to apply the eye masks I was happy that they housed them in a small plastic container. This meant I didn’t have to struggle getting them to their original shape nor did I have to worry about tearing them while doing so because they are made from a very thin fabric. However, the plastic they come housed in leaked everywhere so all the lovely essence ended up in the envelope versus on the actual sheet masks. I had to remove them from the plastic and put them back into the envelope to re-saturate them. It would have probably been smarter to leave out the extra plastic casing and attach the eye masks to a plastic sheet the way a lot of Korean sheet masks do. This would have kept them nice and saturated and it would have also eliminated the excess packaging. This wasn’t a big issue but I felt like the essence all fell towards the the bottom of the envelope rendering it a little messier to use.
The masks have a subtle synthetic cucumber fragrance but thankfully it wasn’t as strong as the one I experienced with the Yes to Cucumbers Micellar Cleansing Water. The fit was a little weird for me as it the masks go all the way up to your temple and cover a pretty large area under your eyes as well. I felt like they didn’t quite fit under the contour of my eye as well as I would have hoped for. After you place these on you’ll wait for about ten minutes before proceeding to the next step.
Once the ten minutes was up I removed them and of course, tossed them as they aren’t reusable. The area around my eye was a bit wet so I just patted the extra essence under my eyes. I could be imagining it but my eyes looked a lot smoother after using these and some of my puffiness looked like it went down. The formula does contain not only cucumber but caffeine as well which is a good way to rid yourself of puff.
The second step in the mask can either be applied right away or if you prefer you can save it for another day. I applied directly after the first step. They give you a very, very, very generous amount of eye cream which apparently brightens the eye area and decreases dark circles. Mmmm I wouldn’t say it did either but it did have a subtle cooling effect. It hydrates quite nicely but it does have a cucumber fragrance that could be an issue for sensitive eyes. It’s rich, creamy, and quite nicely moisturizing but that’s about the extent of the formula for me. In it’s defense, you’re only using the cream once and you’d have to use it a lot longer to see any long term benefits. I never repurchased the set so, I can’t say it did much else aside from hydrate and it’s unfair of the brand to promise it’ll eliminate darkness in a single use or at the very least have the consumer assume it’ll do so. I mentioned in my prior review of the Yes to Coconut 2-Step Lip Kit Pucker Up! Set that I was disappointed with the sheer amount of lip scrub they included in the set. I experienced the same with this set. They include enough eye cream to last like two weeks. It’s just too much! I appreciate the generosity but felt like I was wasting most of it. Someone suggested using a contact lens case the store the left over which is a good idea!
If you’re headed out for the evening and you want to treat your eyes well prior to applying makeup this is actually a nice set to have laying around. It’s not going to erase your dark circles anytime soon but it will smooth and hydrate them well which give you a more awake and refreshed appearance!
