E.L.F. Best Friend Eyeshadow Duo And Doctor Who Babblings

I’m loving these new E.L.F. Best Friend Eyeshadow Duo for Summer 2017. Well, actually I’m loving on one in particular! The shade Peach Squad is a rather delightful color duo made up of a pretty matte peach and a brassy bronze gold. Do like that one for my Summer looks!

Let’s take a look at these three buck palettes!

The E.L.F. Best Friend Eyeshadow Duo arrived yesterday and are available in five shade selections each of which contains a matte and a shimmer eyeshadow. Ten years ago I’d turn my nose up in disgust but nowadays I’m all about combing mattes with shimmers. It just makes shimmers so much easier to wear when you’re layering with a matte not to mention you don’t look like you’re trying too hard with the sparkle.

Shades include:

  • Peach Squad
  • Pink Pal
  • Tea for Two
  • Bestie Brown
  • Soul Matte

I think I want a few of these. Hopefully the formula is a hit.

Available now at www.elfcosmetics.com.

And P.S. How about Doctor Who Season 10 creeping into the awesome zone again? I’ve been a Doctor Who fan since I was like eight. I was positive I was going to grow up and marry Tom Baker. It didn’t happen but in 2005 they rebooted the series and suddenly I felt all of eight years old again, watching the series on PBS, and being utterly captivated.

I think a lot of fans can agree that the series took a nose dive in recent years. It’s just a lot of episodes that make absolutely no sense. Sure, we all make room for the wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey BS that goes down in the Whovian universe but at some point, you literally get fed up when nothing as it seems and questions go unanswered. Who fans are smarter than that Moff, we can understand if you explain all the crazy.

Fast forward to Christmas 2016 and I kind of dreaded watching the Christmas episode but sat down and was delightfully surprised that it was fairly decent. I had my doubts going into Season 10 as Pearl Mackie looked like she was going to be some silly, no brain companion. Turns out she’s wonderful! Brilliant really, beautiful, clever, and witty. I thought they were going to write her as some dumb type that the Doctor would have to explain everything slowly too. Nope, Bill is all smarts! She bounces off the Doctor beautifully! And sue me, but she has more chemistry with the Doctor than Clara did! Up until now Peter Capaldi hasn’t exactly been my favorite Doctor. He’s nonsensical and at times devoid of emotion but along side Bill he suddenly becomes so much more exciting again. The Moff’s writing seems to have improved dramatically as well. I didn’t love how they jumped into Season 10 as it didn’t quite make sense to me where the Doctor now is in his life but none the less the episode was very exciting. The second episode wasn’t quite as exciting but it still was a good base for the Doctor and his new companion to get to know each other.

Anyway, I’m quite happy with S10 and I’m hoping for more exciting episodes! I have renewed interested in watching the latest eppys versus “Doctor Who is on tonight, eye roll!”

What do you think of Bill?

Do share!

that peach color!! zoinks-it’s so pretty!

I thought that I was the only one not loving Peter as The Doctor. Matt was my 1st Doctor and I just loved his silliness, the insanity of a person killing their entire race, and the wonder he showed when he found something new. He really sold it to me that he was an old man with a young man’s face. Peter is grumpy, doesn’t find novelty with something new, but the underlying problem was the stories he was given-they really weren’t that good. they finally started picking up at the Christmas special with River and have been pretty good so far. I’m loving Bill- “It’s like a kitchen!” lolz! she’s smart, sassy, has fantastic hair, and freaking beautiful! why does the Doctor run like that- “LIKE A PENGUIN WITH HIS ARSE ON FIRE” OMFG!!
I’m hoping as the season progresses, we’ll find out why the Doctor is at university and made a promise not to leave Earth.

      Right? Liking the peach!

I thought Peter came in strong. He was older which was great because let’s be honest, for a sec there the Doctor seemed to be getting younger and younger with each regeneration. But things went AWOL. I blame it on Moff’s writing. When Moff has his head in the game he does magic but sometimes, he comes up with the craziest $h1t that makes no sense. Peter has similiar moments where he’s an old man with a young heart (or hearts) but they are so very rare. He comes across very jaded and grumpy. Which is ok, I get it, we can’t always have happy go lucky Doctor. Change is refreshing and it’s not like he’s going to take on the same personality as the Doctor before him. BUT…it would be nice if he gave us more of a glimpse into his fun side. He’s just so emotionless at times and it’s hard to tell if he actually cares at all. I think with Bill he’s a little softer, the fact he took photos of her mum for her was so touching and unlike him. I was never even sure, up till the very end, if he gave two hells about Clara. Ha that line though had me laughing so hard. Second episode was weak but they had a little building up to their relationship so, I understood why they kept it as a slower pace. So far, she kicks ass. And the hair though…! So fab 😀 and the bows though…so fab! LOL! It’s funny as Bill come across like a tomboy yet they give her a hair bow and it’s just such a lovely cute contrast. I also love she’s just a girl making her way in the world, in a job that’s not really taking her anywhere, yet that doesn’t make her dumb, she’s quite smart! I have a feeling that’s going to be a mystery left unsolved. It almost felt like they were hinting that maybe he was not traveling and promises to stay in one place because of so many companions lost, so many issues in the past, and he just wanted to “live a quiet life” that seemed to be where they were going with the story and I hope that’s not the case. I hope the uni/promise (and obviously the vault) works itself into the series plot. I thought it was odd that they included Susan’s photo on his desk, he sort of kind mentioned her in a past episode, but her pic on his desk came unexpectedly. I wonder if they are going to somehow work her into this series? That’d be freaking brilliant if they did!

He’s always come across a bit like a cross of First & Third, but in series 10 his dynamic with Bill reminds me a bit of Seven/Ace and I actually dig it??

Maybe Moff was saving the best for last.

Truer words were never spoken but a little bit more hip than 1 and 3. However, I wouldn’t quite compare Bill to Ace. I think too many companions that have been put into the Tardis in recent years have tried to capture Ace’s personality. They try and make companions like Amy and even Clara smart, spunky toughness but they don’t quite capture it was well as Ace did (hence her popularity and it didn’t hurt she was cute as a button while being spunky). I always felt like Ace was wasted on 7…!

Makeup and Doctor Who… could this thread get any better?!? <3 <3 <3

    • Isabella Muse

and the Master too! haha you couldn’t reply at a better time “Missy” pun intended ;-D

My favorite doctor is 9. And tbh doctor who hasn’t really excited me since Amy/Rory left the show. Last season was mostly me saying to myself wtf is going on?? Lol I havent even watched the christmas special yet so I definitely need to get on that. You’ve given me some hope at least!

    • Isabella Muse

It’s gotten better, writing went downhill a lot but they redeemed themselves slightly with the xmas special as well as the first three of this season!

I didn’t get into Dr. Who – I think I could have used a friend who was really into it – so I don’t have any opinion on that. A musician friend did get a gig at a Dr. Who themed wedding once. The invitation was bonkers – when folded, it was a Tardis box and every invitee got a key.

The lightest duo reminds me of Nars’s All About Eve, although I believe that’s two shimmers. I’m interested, anyway!

    • Isabella Muse

OMG I love those Who themed weddings 😀 Never been to one but seen tons of pics on the Internet of ’em 😀 how fun!

I really like Bill so far and I’m really hoping they do a flashback episode filling in some of the blanks! Peter is starting to grow on me!

    • Isabella Muse

Likewise, I’d love to hear more about Bill’s background!

  • Chris

The Peach Squad reminds me of two of the colors in the L’Oreal Color Riche eyeshadow quad Boudoir Charme. I may have to swatch Soul Matte in one of the ELF stores to see how purple they are.

I’ve been a fan of Dr. who since Tom Baker with his curly hair and multicolored scarf were on PBS. My favorites in the Dr, Who reboot are David Tennant who really understood the character and Matt Smith who now plays Prince Phillip on Netflix’s ‘The Crown’. I do appreciate the older character now — Peter Capaldi but that electric guitar playing from last season really didn’t add to his character — it just looked quirky and out of place, but maybe that was the point.

    • Isabella Muse

likewise! Tom Baker was my Doctor too! I watched it on PBS growing up too! ;-D
