NYX Pin-Up Pout Lipstick ($7.99) is one of NYX’s new Spring launches and a permanent collection of creamy lipsticks that’s available in a slew of different shades. That’s the thing about NYX, they never go small when releasing a new product. I think there’s like 30 shades of this available right now. Gotta love variety.

NYX Pin-Up Pout Lipstick, as per the name, is inspired by vintage glam girls from the past. A retro rouge lipstick that’s super pigmented and has gorgeous coverage. I was slightly skeptical of the release because NYX already has several lipstick formulas in rotation and I questioned what more they could possibly do with a formula. I wouldn’t say Pin-Up Pout Lipstick is groundbreaking by any means but it hits a certain beauty budget’s sweet spot with a formula that packs in pigment and while not killing your bank account.

NYX Pin-Up Pout Lipstick (0.11 oz) comes in a basic black barrel with a colored top replicating the color inside. Although, beware, the color on the cap isn’t always completely accurate with the shade inside the tube. I picked up Lucy which is a bright, cherry red that looked a little bluer on the cap compared to what I found in the tube. I’m completely fine with that as I don’t like blue-based red lipsticks anyway! They had a tester on a display so I was able to see Lucy before buying her so, it worked out in my favor. Otherwise, if I selected the shade based on the cap I’d have been disappointed if I really didn’t want a blue-based red lipstick!

This is a basic, uneventful yet delightful formula. It’s smooth, lightly creamy with an easy glide on lips easily. It’s super pigmented on a single pass and leaves behind smooth, soft color that’s not quite matte and not quite satin in finish, it falls between the two and has a comfortable, lightweight feel and wear on lips without migration or feathering issues and a six hour wear time. It almost looks shiny on my lips which I love! I detected no flavor nor any fragrance unless I held the lipstick directly under my nose. In that case, there was a slight plastic-y smell but nothing horrible.

Considering NYX is always on BOGO (it’s actually currently on BOGO at Ulta.com) you can snag yourself some really nice lipsticks at a great budget price. There isn’t anything not to like here. Pigment, smooth application, and excellent wear! Not to mention a stellaer selection of colors to choose from!

NYX Pin-Up Pout Lipstick is available now at ulta.com.

With so many brands releasing liquid lipsticks ad nauseam, I’m just happy to see a nice, normal, traditional lipstick in a tube!

        I couldn’t agree more !
I realize liquid lipsticks are All That right now, but I still prefer the traditional “stick” form.
I’m disabled from a stroke, and I find liquid lipsticks somewhat tricky to apply neatly.
Also, I find the liquids to be drying, generally.
I have Pin-up Pout in “Bombshell,” a reddish fuchsia, and I adore it.
As stated, the formula’s somewhere between a matte and a satin. It has the generous pigmentation and tendency to adhere typical of mattes, and the moisture and slight sheen of a satin. It really is the best of both worlds.
I’d REALLY love to see NYX expand the shade range of this one!

I’m so glad to hear you’re liking these Carla. I thought they were pretty basic yet still had a gorgeous easy to wear formula 😀

      I AGREEE!!!
I am soo weary of liquid lipsticks, which I just cannot seem to apply neatly, try as I might.
I’m grateful that [cruelty-free] companies like NYX, Milani, and Cover Girl continue to offer conventional lipsticks in a wide range of shades and finishes, at reasonable prices.
Sadly, though, it looks like NYX has axed the Pin-up Pout line. ☹️
However, I intend to scout out “Lucy” on eBay, since I DO like blue-based reds, sometimes.

I love red so this is ringing ALL my bells. It looks great on you!

Did you know the color cap on thd NYX LIPSTICKS pops off and you have a cordinating lip balm under that cap? That could be the reason the color in the cap might not look exactly like the color of the lipstick. Its true! Pop it off and look!

you’re kind of awesome. I just did that and you’re right lol! OMG!!!!!!!! thanks!

I would love to have of these but they aren’t available yet in the Philippines or in the online store where I used to buy makeup. I’m loving vintage stuff lately. And I’m quite sick of (true) matte lip products popping up everywhere. Although I don’t have much problem with matte on my lips, I simply prefer glossy or shiny ones.
