About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. For some reason, the eye shadow palettes remind me of TheBalm’s packaging. I had my usual knee-jerk reaction when I see eye shadow palettes (“I want this now!”) but I’m holding off. I don’t know anything about this brand (it looks like they are Florida based and from my experience with other Florida based brands, they may manufacture in China), and I really don’t want to start buying products from yet another brand.

BTW got my UD Basquiat palettes today and they are fab. Looking forward to using them.

    • Isabella Muse

Oh yes true! They do! I’m tempted to try BUT I’m a little worried about the frost factor, it looks a bit frosty…! I do so hate frost :-/

    • Agona

I am similar; I like to look at the brand overall to see if I’m interested in their products and then explore the products I’m interested in. I typically don’t pick up onsie twosies if the rest of the brand doesn’t interest me overall. And I try to explore one brand at a time, so I don’t get overwhelmed with products I’ve hauled but are waiting around to be tried.

  • Christina D.

I hate frost too, especially on my eyes. But I have the same issue wit highlighters and I’ve pretty much given up on that trend.

    • Isabella Muse

Me too. I can’t get that smooth gorgeousness glow everyone on youTube has. It’s impossible. Almost all highlighters are frosty and clingy on me and funny I have fairly smooth skin but still no go!

      • Agona

Ugh. I double-layered a highlighter last weekend (YouTubers do it!) and it looked like fake metallic slick on my face. I have no idea how people are pulling this off IRL versus on-screen.

OK I won’t be buying anything Pretty Vulgar today…there’s a new BareMinerals 14.0 palette at Nordstrom with my name on it! We love us some BareMinerals, right Sista Muse?

    • Isabella Muse

OMG I do have the Bare Neutrals no WONDER it looked so familiar! Removed that post have to re-add the other one 🙂 thank GOD I didn’t order I’d have kicked myself for paying shipping sis!

      • Agona

FYSA, the Bare Sensual palette/box is the same size as the Wish List (even though Wish List is a 12.0 instead of 14.0); I was all excited…for storage purposes. 🙂 (Although it does drive me a little nuts that they have different amounts!)

      • Agona

        Holy cr*p! I just realized I DON’T have the 14.0 Bare Naturals. …must…buy…now.

        • Agona

From what I can tell, Bare Naturals is at Nordstrom and Macy’s. Bare Metals is QVC–they must be the same seasonal release as Bare Sensual. I guess it is about that time? BareMinerals usually does this before their summer collection of bronzing.

  • Cindy

I really want to buy but I am holding off until I see reviews and swatches from several beauty bloggers. Then I can really decide if I want to buy it or not.

  • Robin

I’ll buy the mascara and the lipgloss for the packaging! I never buy anything just for the packaging, but this line is so pretty!!!! I can just see the mascara perched on my bathroom vanity looking so cute and divine.

The makeu0 palettes reminded me of Stila palettes way back in the day (when they were cardboard and only $10.00).

  • Christina D.

No! Not the Sensuals which I have too. This one is the Bare Naturals. I had to check the list of shadows to be sure they’re not the same palettes.

  • Sarah

I’m really eager to learn more about this brand because those lipsticks and that mascara are calling me! I want to avoid buying items that only look pretty on my vanity, so I hope they’re amazing!

    We shall see. 🙂

  • Kimmwc03

So pretty especially that mascara. I’ll be holding off for reviews too.

I checked the store locator and there were no results within a 100 mile radius of me so I guess this will have a limited store release (?).

  • Julie

I was hoping with the name “Pretty Vulgar” that the color names would be a little more…um…choice. “Princess “F***ing Pink,” “S**t Brown,” etc. lol…oh well. Maybe I’m just a dirty old woman. It is pretty stuff, though. Looking forward to the reviews.

  • Heather

The packaging is gorgeous! I NEED that setting spray, even if it sucks I want it on my vanity!
    Is that shallow?

    • Missy

Idk if it’s shallow, but I bought it, after vowing to never purchase s setting spray. I’ll use it up and refill it w a diy spray. And I will have that pretty bottle forever

  • Heidi

I’ve never tried Pretty Vulgar. Those eyeshadow palettes are cute, though. That matte lipstick is adorable.

  • Melissa

I really like the looks of that songbird color but not sure that I can justify buying a palette just for that one shade when I likely wouldn’t wear most of the other colors. Although it is tempting to get it just to be able to say that I’m wearing an eyeshadow called “head bitch” lol.

  • TropicalChrome

That is the loveliest mascara packaging I’ve ever seen. Unfortunately, I need another mascara right now like I need a stubbed toe. I’ll have to wait for reviews, but goodness, that is so pretty.

  • Sara

This is so cute! That mascara tube! The blush is really pretty too…

  • Missy

I had a 10% promo code, prob bc I bought so much during the sale…jumped on that mascara, setting spray, and pretty birdie palette. First two, for the packaging. Couldn’t justify a lippie, def have enough. Ugh, going on a “no buy” as of right now! ❤️❤️

  • MichelleBelle

I’m a sucker for pretty things! And I love frost! So I might be indulging…

  • Dee

I’m glad I’m not the only one who dislikes highlighting! Just doesn’t work on me.

The eye shadow reminded me of Too Faced holiday products. Very cute but will wait til reviews come in. The lipstick is gorgeous though! I want it just for the case.

    • Isabella Muse

Likewise, most are pure frosty gross on me. Yeah, it does kind of have that vibe 😀

  • Silvia

Oh! I must try these Korean beauties. The packaging and colors are killing me. That blush looks a perfect shade. If that is Vulgar then I also am! With teeny roses and si pretty what a name. Lol!
