Are you gel moisturizer fan? You’ll need to check out Urban Decay Rehab Makeup Prep Hot Springs Hydrating Gel ($28) if you are. This super lightweight water gel moisturizer will leave your skin feeling soft, hydrated, refreshed and ready for makeup.

Let’s take a look ad my thoughts and review below!

Tarte released Rainforest of the Sea Drink Of H2O Hydrating Boost last year and I was a bit disappointed with the formula. For some reason, this made me a little wary to check out Urban Decay Rehab Makeup Prep Hot Springs Hydrating Gel. I expected a heavily scented gel moisturizer with a ton of alcohol. Needless to say, Urban Decay surprised me.

Sadly, Urban Decay packages this up in a 1.94 oz jar. It would have been nicer in a tube but I understand why they put it in a jar as a formula like this would likely separate in a tube. I wouldn’t say there’s a host of incredible ingredients in this formula and some won’t play nicely with certain skin types as it does contain silicones but thankfully it’s fragrance-free.

I always laugh at some of the marketing on skincare. Apparently the encapsulated water gel formula is sourced from a 1,000 year old hot spring in Japan. Mental eye roll. I dunno, maybe it’s true, but you just have to wonder how exactly they source this stuff. Like, do they fly over to Japan every time they need water to create the moisturizer?! Shrug!

This is a thicker silkier gel texture that almost instantly melts into a watery formula upon contact with skin and absorbs easily. It’s not a typical gel moisturizer as the texture does morph and becomes a thin watery consistency once it touches skin. It hydrates very nicely without laying on top of skin or creating unnesscary shine or greasiness. It’s actually a really great pick for oily skin types since the formula is so incredibly lightweight and quick to absorb. Apparently the gel has a low alkaline and this helps to balance out the pH of your skin. Honestly, I wore it under my makeup for the past month and it provides nice light moisture and allowed for smoother application of my foundation. It’s a perfect daily moisturizer and will be even better in the Summer months when I lighten up on my skincare. My skin was smooth, soft, and lightly hydrated after use without shine or oiliness as the day progressed.

I think if you have super dry skin you’ll feel it isn’t hydrating enough however, for combination, normal, or oily types it’s perfectly equate moisture. As for drier types, it’s a great pick for lightweight daily moisture just not overnight hydration.

I liked it a lot and I can see it become a Summer staple. If you enjoy gel moisturizers in general or just like the textures and formulas of Korean beauty gel moisturizers, you’ll fit in just fine with Urban Decay Rehab Makeup Prep Hot Springs Hydrating Gel.
