MAC Prissy Princess, Girls Mischief, And Other Cutesy Eyeshadow Palettes at Ulta & Nordstrom

I receive a small commission if you shop through my link.

What this? MAC Prissy Princess, MAC Girls Mischief Mink, Power Hungry, and Girls Basic B Face and Eyeshadow Palettes arriving at Ulta on August 3rd. These are a surprise….! It doesn’t mention them being an Ulta Exclusive but I’m guessing they are as this is the first time I’m hearing about them.

I dunno how I feel about these.

I’m looking at them and thinking that some of the shade pairings are very nice. But something in the back of mind is saying, “Gosh, these look childish for MAC!” They feel very much like Insta-Makeup to me. Something that they launched to appeal to the Instagram generation of younger girls. They are truly nothing like I’ve seen MAC release with their cutesy packaging. And dare I say are they made from cardboard!??!?

Really, these are SO not like MAC at all.

Here’s a look!

I like the shades on Girls basic b. I never tried Mac shadows. How is the quality Muse? Thanks.

MAC is hit and miss! Their permanent collection is brilliant but their LE stuff can be very hit and miss quality wise!

  • Gina

Put these palettes aside, can I say, wow ulta does step up its game in the beauty retail business!

  • kimkats

Hmmm… the palettes seem to be heavy on the light shades and only 1 or 2 medium and dark shades… Since my ulta doesn’t carry MAC (and likely never will) I think I’m safe from these. 🙂 the Basic B looks the most wearable to me.

  • Colleen

Not sure about these. I’m not a girl, I’m an adult, and the name rubs me that the wrong way. Like this is MAC for kids. I would definitely want to see a review before I splurge.

‘Never say bitch like it’s a bad thing.’ Dog world talk. I rather like basic bitch in its menswear inspired palette. The rest do look pretty light and ‘youth’ friendly. Of COURSE they are trying to grab up the next generation of buyers and influencers. Not to mention outdo S, aka evil empire 5. True that you cannot depend on MAC LE. Ulta’s power star is on the rise. An Ulta only Nars palette and now, especially for U MAC palettes? Don’t think U has any instore near me. this is def a swatch before you buy thing.

Totally agree: MAC is hit or miss (mostly miss) and, with the exception of a few permanent items in my collection, I’ve been over them. As for these, I hate the names and I hate the layout. Easy pass (thank God said my wallet).

Everything limited by MAC is cute. Trolls, Barbie, Cinderella and whatever else they’ve done with Disney, even the bowling theme they had not too long ago. You even have MAC Wonder Woman linked at the bottom of this. I actually think these look more grown up than any of those.

  • Cindy

I actually like all of these palettes and am excited for them all. I will wait to purchase until they have been thoroughly reviewed by beauty bloggers that I trust (wink, wink). Yes, they are juvenile, but so is all of Too Faced stuff, and people eat TF stuff up on the regular. I think Mac is just trying to remain competitive and keep up with the current trends. Oh, fyi, a Mac employee at Nordstrom told me that a wide selection of Mac will be available at Nordstrom Rack within the next week or so. Not sure if that means they are clearancing out most of their line and plan on revamping it? Maybe new packaging and/or new color selections? I don’t know, I just hope Mac doesn’t disappear.

    • Isabella Muse

I got that wink 😀 and I’ll def review when they launch haha! They do indeed, that cutesy stuff is working for TF big time! interesting thanks! Will have to hit up the Rack! thanks for the tip!

  • Lisa

These are not only available at Ulta as I purchased mine today at the MAC boutique in Dillard’s.

  • Anjj

They’re available on birchbox and I got mine today. Good quality, pretty colors. I chose pretty princess because I’ve never been able to pull off dark colors.
