Sephora Takes On Urban Decay With Tinted & Cooling Eye Primer

Sephora Tinted & Cooling Eye Primer ($14) takes on Urban Decay’s legendary Primer Potion formula with this new selection of tinted eyeshadow primers. Caffeine, Eden, you name it and Sephora has a shade that could just take the place of your beloved Urban Decay Primer Potion.

Available in five shade selections this cool, refreshing eyeshadow primer will has a glazed emulision consistency that glides onto lids easily and gives them a fresh nude shade of color or use them under your favorite powder eyeshadows to intensify the color and hold them in place for all day wear without creasing or fading.

These are available in five shades and two different finishes of either matte or shimmer.

Shades:

  • Nude (shimmer)
  • Pink Beige (matte)
  • Taupe (shimmer)
  • Deep Taupe (matte)
  • Beige (matte)

I actually kind of like these as a nude, natural eye look and not so much a primer. But of course, that depends how pigmented they are! I’m hoping they work out as an eyeshadow, I wouldn’t mind using them as such!

Sephora Tinted & Cooling Eye Primer is available now at sephora.com.

By the way, I’m currently addicted to Rita’s Ice because they have a Twizzler flavor. Shut the hell up! 😉 It’s so damn tasty! Just like the licorice! Get in my stomach!

What are your fav Summer eats?

P.S.S. In other news, I have the breakout from hell happening on my face at the moment. My skin is fairly resilient and I’m not really prone to break outs or having sensitive skin but I used a waterproof Coppertone SPF over the weekend that my friend had on her. I ran out of beloved Shiseido Ultimate Sun Protection and rather than head to Sephora (I was upstate, Sephora isn’t exactly around the corner) I used what she had on her. I was fine all day but the next day I had tiny little white pimples on my chin and near my inner eye. Also, my face feels like it has a fever plus I’m experiencing some minor itchiness. Yeah, bad reaction to say the least. Note to self, never assume you have Shiseido SPF hanging around when in fact you don’t!

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. hey muse! I was wondering what is your favorite drugstore foundation? I am going on vacation soon and I am search of something that is a little more cheap! Thanks so much girl <33

You know, these remind me a lot of Laura Mercier’s Eye Basics – don’t even know if they still make those, but they functioned as a primer and a sheer wash of color. I loved the Flax shade of that stuff , and these sound an awful lot like those, but at half the price!! Hmmm… I need one of these like I need a hole inna head, but….. when’s that ever stopped me! 😀

Thanks for the heads up on this, Muse!! Is this one of sephora’s fall releases, or is it gonna be permanent, do you know?

    • Isabella Muse

I remember and love those and yes they still make them 😀 My pleasure! Perm for now, but you know sephora they might dice them at any point!

My husband has that exact reaction just from being out in the sun with this heat. No sunscreen on either :/ I think it’s just the heat mixed with sweat that causes it for him.

    • Isabella Muse

awww! I’m honestly not a sweater, I can be out in 150 degree weather and not a drop of sweat! I wish it was the sun/sweat but it appears the sunscreen was the culprit!

Hi, Muse, happy Summer. That ice sounds amazing. Give me York Peppermint patties any season. I discovered Rose ( 7 Sisters) in a can !!! I have been using Coola sport stick and one bt Baboo on the face (hi zinc) with mineral powder over. So far OK. Physical sunscreen! All well on the boat! Love ya, Elaine G.

Muse, the fever/inflammatory aspect of your reaction worries me. Be sure to contrast the ingredients of the coppertone with the Shiseido, then look it all up on Cosdna and maybe EWG. I think both formulas have chem sunscreens, but different ones. You can be allergic to one or more, but not others. I had no prob with them until one year, bang! Massive flush, temp dropped to 93, and I felt sick as a dog and had to sleep for 3 hours…every time I went in the sun with it. 15 minutes and I felt like I might die. One day I said to self eff this $#!t and went out without it. Still reading an hour later with no issues. Light dawned on Marblehead! Cosdna’s safety ratings could be a godsend for your investigation. I never found out which were the offenders, just avoid the whole group. Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate is a big culprit. S.t. this can also involve Benzyl salicylate, which is not only a chem sunscreen, but is also used as a fragrance modifier, in scent products. Good luck. Frankly, I’d rather have sun damage! It was BAD.

Thanks KJH for the heads up! flushed/heat went away but now it spread a little to my cheeks. Yak! If it continues, off to the derm! and no worries, I totally won’t be using it again!

Yeah, but you NEED TO KNOW the particulars. BS is an immune disrupter and is banned or restricted in the EU. It is prominent in by Terry and many other HE lines. It got me, and I have only minimal immune problems. Knowledge is power.

I only used one product, the coppertone, so whatever was in that was what caused the flare up. As soon as I bring the screenshot of the ingredients to my derm I can find out what it is that might have caused the flare up and avoid it in the future. Benzyl salicylate isn’t in the ingredient list: Water, Propylene Glycol, C12
-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Neopentyl Glycol Diheptanoate, Cyclopentasiloxane, Cetyl PEG/PPG
          10/1 Dimethicone, PEG
12 Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract,
Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Diazolidinyl Urea, Methylparaben, Propylpara
          ben, Sodium Chloride

Hmm, I might like these. I wonder how they compare to the BareMinerals 5 in 1 BB eye whatever they call it, which I wear all the time. I wonder what is “cooling” about it. . . sounds like it could be a potential irritant. Sounds like a visit to the store might be in order.
Is the Shiseido your current day-to-day favorite sunscreen, or just when you need a waterproof one? Which sunscreens are your current faves for day-to-day summer wear? Sorry about your breakout, hope it heals quickly. I also had to resort to borrowing sunscreen over the weekend, one of the Neutrogena dry touch things, and oh how I hated it.

    • Isabella Muse

I wonder too as I like the Bare Mineral formulas! Could be nothing at all, just a way to make it sound cool lol! I typically use it when I need waterproof coverage but my daily sunscreen is Biore’s Watery Essence is my go to daily or Biore Aqua Rich. Those are my two favs but I also like kanebo allie, it’s one of HGs as well 🙂 Aw thanks! It’s healing up nicely but I’m really dry at the moment because of it! Ugh I tried it, hated it too. It creates that weird matte heavy feel on my skin. Thanks but no thanks 😀

Sorry to hear about your allergy! Since I have sensitive and eczema prone skin, my derm has me take benadryl and apply a topical hydrocortisone cream (over the counter if you don’t have prescription strength) whenever I have a flare up or a bad reaction to some skincare. This exact thing happened to me when I used the SKII sheet mask once. My face was bumpy, hot, itchy, and very red. It frightened me because I had never had an allergic reaction to skincare so badly before. The combo of benadryl, which works better for dermatitis, and hydrocortisone works really well. Give it a try if you’re still suffering!

    • Isabella Muse

I’m going to apply some tonight! It spread a little to my cheeks now yak! If it doesn’t clear up off to the derm I go. Thanks girl!

    • kjh

I use hydrocortisone, illegal script, for skincare flush, and it works, but take a boatload of Zyrtec and chlortrimeton daily. Benadryl (diphenhydramine)is now the go to ingredient in otc sleep preps. Lots of people take it without even realizing it. Many people are habituated to it, but another antihistamine could work well. Benadryl never did jack for me.

shoot where was this when i bought the eyeshadow primer from smashbox. which i like by the way but I’m in between shades. light is too light and medium is too dark. i think it oxidizes and looks brownish orange by the end of the day.
the benefit of it is it keeps my eyeliner in place so i don’t look like a raccoon by the end of the day.

I am bored with a few make up products, and this is one of them. I will stick to my UD and not stray. Everytime I do, I end up throwing it in the trash or trying to find someone to take it. Btw, highlighter, Micellar water and sheet masks are on my overload list as well. Too much.
