Contrary to what the makeup world has you believing there is still time to enjoy eyeshadow palettes like the Etude House Play Color Eyes Beach Party. Because at the very least we have a few good days of Summer left right?

This fun palette combines a gorgeous selection of aquatic shades paired with sandy, beach nudes to create a gorgeous Summer-y look. This is a much needed break from the Fall and Holiday Collection that have been coming down on us lately.

I hope you enjoy this brief trip back into Summer.

If you’ve been reading here a while I’m sure you’ve come across at least one Etude House Play Color Eyes Eyeshadow Palette review in the past. I’ve pretty much collected all the ones Etude House has launched because I’m a tad bit obsessed with owning them all. Even though I have a love/hate relationship with them I still continue to buy them.

I picked up the Etude House Play Color Eyes Beach Party a few weeks ago because I thought it would be a fun way to inject some color into my Summer looks since I’ve somehow turned into the boring nude girl that I said I would never become. This contains some of my favorite shades as I’ve always been a very strong lover of aquas and teals. It’s actually a great shade to make browner eyes look deeper however, it isn’t a shade I’m comfortable wearing anymore as I’ve gotten older.

This is a fun palette as it contains not all aquatics but also a range of other shades that will have you thinking of the beach, the tropics, and just Summer vibes in general. It includes 10 shades which come housed in a slim, easy to travel with palette which contains a full-size mirror inside as well as sponge-tipped applicators for application. The outer palette has an teal face plate with a tiny polka dot bikini. It’s a very light, easy to store palette. There’s a plastic film that covers the eyeshadows which has tiny graphics that inspired the shades as well as the name’s of each shade. For example, Like a Mermaid has a tiny fish fin photo printed on the film and Cool Dive has a scuba diver. I guess this isn’t worth mentioning but I always really like little touches of fun like this in my makeup.

You get several different finishes in the palette that include mattes, satins, and sparkle shades. The sparkle shades have always been an issue for me as they tend to run sheerer, with fall out, and have a chunkier texture. The satins and mattes are best as they are the most pigmented with excellent color off and a soft texture that blends easily. This palette in particular is quite impressive as the shades are very intense and bold. They are pretty powdery and kick up a good deal of powder when I swipe my brush through them which means you’ll get fall out but a cream base helps considerable with fall out issues. By the way, I’m wearing Too Faced Peach Blur Translucent Smoothing Finishing Powder in my photo below!

Many, many of the colors are outstanding. Like a Mermaid is a gorgeous bold teal and cool dive is the perfect royal blue. Sunset Beach is a sparkle but also a very pretty orange-y coral that reminds me of shades that can be found in the Play Color Eyes Juice Bar Palette.

I don’t typically Muse Approved Play Color Eyes Palettes because as I said I have a love hate relationship with them but I have to say Beach Party was outstanding. It has some fabulous colors with great pigmentation. If you have a love of aquatic eyeshadow looks this palette has plenty to choose from plus some fabulously beachy nudes as well.

Love!

Whoa, fantastic look on you, and a gorgeous change from browns (again, I in no way mean that critically because I have brown eyes too and reach for brown/neutral shadows 90% of the time). VERY inspiring! <3

Thanks Susan! and ITA! It’s nice to embrace some color, I’m always reaching for the damn brown eyeshadow 😀

Yay! You reviewed this! I saw it on Etude House’s website when I was looking at the wine palette and was immediately drawn to the colours. But having never owned any of the Etude palettes, I didn’t pick it up because I wasn’t sure about the quality. I’m glad you reviewed it and posted swatches.

I LOVE it! I have a little bit of a hit and miss situation with the play color eyes but this one was really lovely 😀

You’re seriously tempting me. The look is great on you, and I just love the color arrangement (not that I don’t own all these colours already).

        • Isabella Muse

Aw thanks! It’s a nice assortment of shades! I agree, I have a lot of these colors already but I just liked the way they looked together! Justifying my purchase there!

Wow this blue look is gorgeous better than any of the browns or neutrals on you.You look great

After surviving 80s makeup, here is something I never thought I’d say: “That blue eye shadow looks amazing on you!”

What they said. You look great. Esp like the starfish on rock under the lashline. Seriously, this looks neither too young, nor trying too hard. The tf powder and the blush, lips! Yeah. Your eyes are beyond popping. You even look as if you have the time to have fun! NPR did an interesting segment on backhanded compliments….think that was one.

    • Isabella Muse

thanks 😀 Oh no worries with fun I make plenty of time for that 😉

Oh, I’ve been avoiding the Play Color Eyes palettes because they’re hit or miss. I don’t know if I can justify those purchase though because I have both of the Personal Color palettes and both of the Pro Personal Color palettes on my way to me (which means that’s 4 x 20 shades)!! :-O But I loooooove blues. Cry!

This look you did is gorgeous!
I could look at Sunset Beach in the pan all day- such a shimmering peachy golden shade. Too bad it looks a little less “wow” swatched though :/

With primer it should perform well! On my drier lids no primer it didn’t fade or crease.
