Inexpensive and Affordable Makeup Storage

I receive a small commission if you shop through my link.

I hate to admit it but I’m running out of room to store my makeup and beauty but I’m so guilty I’m trying to find hundreds of new ways to make it more accessible, pretty to look at, while being affordable. I’m constantly at Home Goods looking through their assortment of storage boxes, units, etc…to see what deal I can score for makeup storage. Last week, they had this incredible wooden drawer unit that was $119. It was relatively small but had very long drawers. It would have been great to pop in my closet but the shade stopped me from buying it. It was a god awful aqua that didn’t go with a damn thing.

Oh well!

You win some, you lose some.

Here are some other inexpensive and affordable ways to store your makeup!

I can’t recommend the Jerrybox 360-Degree Rotating Makeup Organizer enough! I own the Etude House Princess Makeup Table but the Jerrybox is WAY more sturdy and fantastic to put skincare on. I keep most of my nightly and daily essentials on this unit. It spins, it holds a ton of different things, and a mere $24 (Free Shipping with Amazon Prime). It also comes in a variety of shades and shapes can’t beat it!

I must have a million InterDesign Clarity Cosmetic Organizer Drawers ($11) in my makeup room! These are great clear stackable units that hold MAC, Urban Decay, or other potted eyeshadows easily! If you aren’t one for stacking there’s a little space on the top that you can use the store bottles or even stack blush compacts as there’s a lip that will hold them in place.

Sorbus Acrylic Cosmetics Makeup X-Large Display Case ($44) is a fantastic buy as not only will it hold tons of makeup but the unit is comes apart and is completely customizable so you can stack it anyway you like!

If you need something a little fancy for your essentials the MaxKim Multi-function Makeup Organizer is pure white with a raised diamond siding that looks gorgeous on vanities while holding brushes, makeup, and other beauty dodads!

Songmics Makeup Organizer Cosmetic Storage ($29) is an ideal unit for someone that wants to hold a lot in a smaller space. This unit is fairly compact but has plenty of cups and drawers to hold brushes, makeup, and more.

I purchased the this 10 Removable Drawers Unit at my local Container Store years ago! For $22 bucks it’s totally a great piece to store daily essentials. I pop my concealers in here, my eyeshadow primers, cotton rounds and facial cotton, anything that I use daily. It’s a handy unit for storing smaller items that you use daily.

Elessa from Pursebuzz purchased me this Homdox Makeup Organizer Tabletop 360 Rotating Cosmetics Storage Case years ago for Christmas and it’s been in my bathroom every since. I store a ton of different things in this thing. Makeup brushes, lotions, potions, etc…it’s a handy unit that holds a ton of stuff and the fact it spins makes everything super accessible.

If you want a few more drawers than the InterDesign Clarity Cosmetic Organizer Drawers has this Sorbus Acrylic Cosmetics Makeup Storage Case is a better option as it contains 4 larger drawers that will hold brushes, compacts, and eyeshadow easily.

I purchased three of these B&S Fashion DIY Wooden Makeup Storage Boxes a while back ago ($23.99) and didn’t regret the purchase. I have them set up under the sinks in one my guest bedrooms and I put little essentials inside them that I think my guests might need or use (toothbrushes, toothpaste, makeup remover, mini mascaras, lipgloss, etc….). It actually has a mirror, a spot for tissues, plus little drawers and such to hold a variety of beauty items.

I can’t think of a single person who doesn’t want to gain some control over their lipgloss collection! This Alegory Acrylic Lip Gloss Makeup Organizer has 24 spots to slip your glosses into to make things a little less chaotic in your makeup life!

How do you currently deal with your makeup storage?

Any interesting way you store makeup?

I have more pretty and sentimentally important mugs than I can ever use to drink from, so I put some of them on top of my bathroom vanity and put makeup brushes in one, eyeliners in another, lip glosses, etc. Also, I use an empty clean Talenti gelato container for some other things. Obviously these are small-scale storage items, but they look cute.

I collect little odd crystal glasses and such and use them to store lipglosses, liners, etc in!

Awesome suggestions! Thank you! This will be a great project for the upcoming rainy weekend.

What amazing options! I want that Songmics makeup holder, and the MaxKim might work on a shelf in my bedroom. I really like the Sorbus and actually considered it during my lengthy search for a palette holder but simply didn’t have the space. If I can, I’d like to suggest one almost as good as your suggestions. It hold about 30 palettes from very big (Morphe 35s) to quads. I reviewed it at Amazon earlier this week and included some pics of how I filled it. Maybe somebody here would like it.

I have a Ikea Malm vanity which is where I store most of my stuff. I bought little baskets to put in the drawers to separate stuff. However, I’ve outgrown that lol. I have a set of 5 acrylic drawers on my vanity, plus a few cute pencil cups I got at Target in the home office aisle for brushes and lip glosses. I have an old wine glass holding perfume samples too. *whispers* Plus three train cases and my orginal 90’s caboodle…

I bought the Pampered Chef Tool Turn About for my make-up brushes. I put bean bag filler in the compartments to keep brushes separated and easier to see. It makes it so easy to find what I need. However, I still haven’t found a good solution for my double sided brushes.

I have 3 of the Recollections 3 drawer cubes stacked on top of each other. Purchased at Michaels around black friday a couple of years ago. I love them!! Hubby used gorilla glue in certain spots to reinforce it. Now I can’t stand foundations up but that doesn’t bother me. I can stand most of my lippies though. I use a qtip holder I found at dollar tree lol… whatever works, right? Also love using fancy mugs for brushes

Can you hub come over and reinforce mine? I love them but I think I overfilled and now the bottoms are coming apart 🙁 booo!

I bought at a Target a Rubbermaid black interlocking drawer organizer bin (3″ X 9″) to hold my Lancôme eyeshadow palettes on their side. It hold about 15 of them and fits in the top drawer of my bathroom vanity. Another thing I bought for the Container Store was the 12 opening acrylic lipstick & pencil holder for my UD eyeliner pencils ($12.99). Each opening holds 4 pencils and around the center opening are 4 drilled holes for 4 more pencils. I also purchased to hold my UD single shadows an acrylic 12 slot organizer from the Container Store. It holds 3 shadows per section of either UD singles or Lancôme singles. Even the UD boxes with the colors showing on the top of each box fits well without being tight.

I love the wooden ones you can get at the container store, they are cute for holding eyeshadow quads, blushes, etc…! 😀

Why didn’t you buy it and repaint a different color? Like spray paint it and you can make or get stencils online if you want patterns. My bro does body work and always offers to paint stuff for me, even candy coating things He custom painted his toilet seats a candy apple red

You know those Big Tissue cores? I would seal one end with a piece of illustration board and cover it in fabric, sometimes I use fleece, velvet or textured paper. sometimes I use hot glue to stick shells on them from trips I’ve been in and I store my brushes, liners and other thin or pointy stuff in them. Can I also mention I love ELESSA!

    • Isabella Muse

That’s a cool idea Gerrlyn! ;-D Like your DIYer creativity 😀 Yea, Elessa is a sweetie and a pioneer!

I organize my makeup in small decorative floral boxes. I put the makeup in each box depending on the type of makeup. Hourglass, Charlotte Tilbury, Becca, CLinique, Estee, Natasha Denona, and too many more. lol I have a nice big dresser with doors and the top with shelves. I keep the boxes in there depending on the makeup I chose to wear. I like having the eyeshadows and blushes and lipsticks and everything to match in color. I just label the boxes and take out what I feel like for that day. The dresser hides the boxes of extra makeup and my beauty room only has my brushes in glass holders on my makeup bureau. It’s a great way to keep clutter down and easy to keep track of everything. OCD maybe?? lol I have way too much. lol

I love pretty boxes! Sadly, my collection got so big I had to get a few different drawer options to stash it all in but I still use trays to sort everything! I like to keep all my blushes together, palettes together, etc…Ideally, I’d love to do it by brand! Believe me, I feel you on OCD when it comes to keep the clutter down as I can’t stand clutter ;-D
