Physicians Formula 80th Anniversary Collection for Fall 2017

Did you know Physicians Formula is set to turn 80 soon? To celebrate they are launching an 80th Anniversary Collection that includes a new Le Velvet Foundation, Hypoallergenic Lipstick, and 80th Anniversary Eyeshadow Quads.

Physicians Formula and I go way back! I feel like it was one of my really first big drugstore brands. Remember that the Physicians Formula Retro Glow Illuminating Blush with the cameo design? And I’ve always been a major fan of the mosaic powder! Mind you, this is coming from a girl who avoids powder at all costs due to drier skin.

The brand has changed, evolved, become a bit more expensive in recent years and sometimes repetitive but many of their products are still very solid picks with great formulas. It’s a brand I’m always excited to see release something new and I’m not left rolling my eyes when they do. They still have one major hurdle to tackle though, foundation shades, but they have made some steps to improve their shade selection as recently the Mineral Wear Talc-Free All-in-1 ABC Cushion Foundation released in two more shades vs the standard two shade selection that’s normally available.

One of the most interesting releases in this launch would be the new eyeshadow quads which sport a beautiful shimmery shade selection. I always perk up for shimmer don’t I? And the lipsticks look interesting as well!

I’m curious if they’ll be more items in this collection and I’m looking forward to hearing the launch date which I suspect will be sometime in September for the Fall 2017 season.

As more information becomes available I’ll be sure to share it here.

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. Wow! 80? Something is older than me? Say it isn’t so. Not currently on their train, but have enjoyed some over the years. Maybe it’s time. These do look interesting, and it is clearly one of the more reliable ds brands.

I had no idea they went back so far! I wear their Mineral Wear Talc Free Airbrushing Pressed Bronzer very often, love that it has spf 30 rating and a natural-looking color on me. I enjoyed their cushion foundation too, more so than other cushions I’ve tried (Amore Pacific, seriously with the perfume?!) I’ve never tried their blushes, lipsticks, or eye anything, but I just may join in and help them celebrate their big 8-0!

I love their Butter bronzers and blushes!!! These look really nice and I had no clue they went back that far!!! They have a nice history too!

  • Sarah

I love the retro packaging! I’m definitely going to grab a couple lipsticks, they look precious and I love that vintage look!

To me, PF was always the fancy drugstore brand, I’m glad they’ve been around 80 years!

I had a physician’s formula eye shadow that was shaped as a locket when I was younger and it had a silver overlay of a Victorian woman on a shimmery beige shadow. I’ll never forget that eye shadow and still have it in my makeup “keepsakes” drawer. It got me through my freshman and sophomore year of high school….many, many moons ago. But I had no idea that they went that far back. Very cool and the collection looks great!

A real lipstick from them? Yay! Also, Le Velvet Foundation? I hope I see when that is released.

Loved their matte quads so I’m sure I’ll be trying the new ones. The lipstick looks great too. I was wondering what happened to Le Velvet, which disappeared from the stores several years ago.

  • Victoria

Those eye quads look like they’re smiling! Somebody notify Faces in Things!

  • Nat

I love how the makeup sponge applicator and the lid divot in the shadow palettes make them look like smiley faces! 😀

Always been a big fan of PF! Some big misses but more big hits for me over the years. And like you say Muse, they never bore me. I appreciate that they consistently release interesting new products to tempt me. Also like their packaging. Sometimes its really pretty! I’ll be picking up an eyeshadow quad and a lipstick for sure. I wish they would put out more lip products.

  • Christina

Wow, I had no idea they were a brand with such a long history. I think the new launches look pretty elegant and am most interested in the eyeshadow quad. I can’t say I really like anything from the brand, but I love eyeshadow, and these look promising!

  • Brandy

I love PF shimmer strips eyeliner! Really pigmented and doesn’t cause my eyes to itch. I need to try out more of their stuff cuz the packaging always looks so cute.

  • blee

Awwww, what a very sweet man to do that for his wife. Ill be looking for those eye shadow quads. I better go look in my PF stash now that I see how long this company has been around. I had a crush on them a while back and had lots of the natural items. 😀

It’s a great brand and those eye shadows and lipsticks look very encouraging in their new packaging. Not many brands last that long in the beauty business either.

  • Iris

They look good but I’m wondering if the colours are limited editions/new releases or are re-packs of earlier colours. I really like that red.

  • Paula

I’m so excited! I’ve heard that Physicians Formula is also going to have liquid lipsticks
