Too Faced Peach Blur Translucent Smoothing Finishing Powder Review & Swatches

I purchased this item and I receive a small commission if you shop using the links in this post.

Too Faced Peach Blur Translucent Smoothing Finishing Powder ($30) is a new translucent powder that soft peach in color which contains optical correcting spheres that act smooth lines, pores, and uneven skin texture to create the illusion of a smooth, soften complexion.

I think this is a little bit of a confusing product and people are left questioning the peach shade. How can it be translucent if it is peach? Will it give me a peachy glow? Is it a highlighter or is it simply a setting powder?

Let’s find out!

Ok, I should get it out there right away and say I love this. Jerrod kept promoting this on his Instagram and raving about how much he adored and how it was his favorite product from the Peaches & Cream Collection. But I wasn’t buy any of that. Too Faced is legendary for hyping up their latest collections and giving us all a bad case of makeup FOMO if we don’t get our hands on something as soon as it releases.

Needless to say all his marketing ravings worked because I purchased it as soon as it popped up on Sephora during the early release this week. I didn’t expect much from it and when I got it I thought, “WOW! Adorable!” but also, “Hmmm looks very dense!” We’ll discuss all that in a second but let’s chat packaging first.

This comes in a pretty square compact with a very generously sized mirror inside and a peach face plate. It’s not overly cutesy nor cheap looking. I think they did a great job packaging this collection. The powder itself as a cute raised peach embossment as well which doesn’t disappear once you use the product (although the words printed within the peach design do). They have this priced at $30 for 0.28 oz of product.

The entire Peaches & Cream Collection is promoted as being a comfortable matte finish but thus far all the powder products have an over spray. This powder is no different. It has an interesting over spray that gives it sheen finish. It looks like a smooth layer of ice. Once you dust that initial layer off the powder beneath is soft, silky and satiny matte in finish. You do have to use a fairly dense brush to pick up the powder because although silky it still has a very dense formula. I used my Bobbi Brown Blush Brush which has a smaller dome shape which picked up color easily enough.

The shade is a soft peach and it swatches as such but this applies completely sheer and transparent. As you know I have drier skin and I don’t use setting powder as it accentuates dryness. I had no problem with this. It didn’t adhere to my drier areas and had a soft, smooth, even appearance. I applied my foundation, concealer, and eye makeup this morning and prior to applying my blush I dusted this across my face. I have a little bit of a combo skin type going on at the moment where my forehead and chin is a little oily and my cheeks drier. It completely eliminated the shine I was experiencing and it smoothed and softened my entire complexion. I don’t consider myself as having a rough or uneven skin texture but it’s very visible how this perfects your complexion. It gives your skin a softer look. If you have larger pores or finer lines it should blur and soften their appearance.

If you’re a blogger or you take selfies or photos you’ll love how this makes your skin look. It just makes your skin look beautifully smooth and soft.

I WISH it was a little more powdery as it is a pain to pick it up. I have to swipe my brush across it pretty hard a few times to pick the powder up. However, there’s part of me that thinks maybe the fact it isn’t powder is why it works so well for me and doesn’t adhere to dryness.

It does have a soft peachy scent and you do get a little sniff of it as you apply but it disappears and doesn’t linger. You have to put your nose fairly close to the powder to even smell it so the scent is very subtle. I liked the scent a lot more than the one from the Sweet Peach Eyeshadow Palette. It’s a lot sweeter and smells like Sanrio Peach Gum.

All in all, Too Faced Peach Blur Translucent Smoothing Finishing Powder was a pleasant surprise. I love what this does for my complexion! I would definitely recommend this one for a purchase.

so excited this ones not a flop! this powder was one of the only things i really had my eye on in this collection but i’ve been waiting patiently for reviews.

  • Christina

Hmmm, I’m still skeptical of this on my fair skin (that is olive yellow as well). Even though it’s transparent, it swatches quite peach, so do you think this will tint my face just a bit? It looks almost like some of my blushes. I’ll definitely play with this when it hits the stores, since you said the blurring effects are pretty amazing.

Thanks so much for this review. I’ve been most curious about this from the Peach collection because it sounded potentially like a peachy Hourglass Ambient Light powder. This is the first review I’ve seen of this. I like the sound of a non-drying powder (I worry about powder bringing out dry flakes, too). Would you say it’s a true matte or more of a radiant satin matte? -Angela

    • Isabella Muse

My pleasure! It’s more of a satiny matte. They keep saying that the entire collection has a “comfortable matte” finish and that translates as a satiny matte. This is fairly dense though so you don’t quite get the velvety texture some of the other pieces in this collection have. It’s not powdery but drier but still silky and satiny. I hope that explains it better?!

  • Cheryl

Good morning. I am STILL kicking around the Hourglass ambient lighting powders and was wondering if this provides a similar effect. I know the shade is different than dim light and diffused light in the Hourglass line, but does this product provide a similar blurring, “filtered” effect for slight texture and uneven skin tone? Thanks a bunch!

    • Isabella Muse

It’s not quite like that. I think Hourglass has that soft, candlelit radiance but this lacks that. It smooths and softens while blurring but no glow or shimmer. Hope this helps!?

  • mkdallas

Would you say this compares to Hourglass Dim Light in any way? And the slight shimmer on your wrist swatch is from the overspray and not in the powder underneath? Thanks in advance for your reply and never stop your blog, please…love me some Muse!

    • Isabella Muse

Not quite! I think Hourglass Dim Light has a certain radiance plus the benefits of blurring imperfections. This softens, smooths, and blurs but no shimmer. I apologize, the shimmer was from the sheen over spray, under that it’s pure silky satiny matte. Aw thank you so much <3! xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo!

Mine arrived yesterday. I like it & I will use it, but for $30 I really wanted to love it. I won’t repurchase & I will stick with my Hourglass powders.

So glad to hear this. I impulsely bought this along with the Sephora play bag.
Wish me luck on the bag lol!!!!

  • jessica

Not sure why but this reminds me of an old VS blush. Maybe from one of the Heidi Klum collections?

  • Lori

Happy Sunday! My daughter is Annabelle, and was almost an Isabelle lol. Anyways, I have like straight up greasy skin 🙁 and huge pores, and a variety of other skin texture issues. I know this is going to make you cringe, but I used to wash my face w antibacterial soap and scalding water, and as you might imagine I now have a lot of damage from it. I have OCD, but am recovering now. So I need something mattifying and blurring, but w a soft finish. What do you think of this product for me?

    • Isabella Muse

Hi Lori! 🙂 awesome ;-D My aunt and my cousin is Annabelle ;-D oh wow! Yeah, that could cause damage 🙁 But OCD can make you do some unusual things, can’t blame yourself for that. This probably won’t help! I’d try a nice soft, silky powder. The new Becca Becca Hydra-Mist Set & Refresh Powder is a nice pick! Soft, silky, finally milled sets matte, will blur imperfections, and should be a nice way to blur any imperfections 🙂 https://www.musingsofamuse.com/2018/05/becca-hydra-mist-set-refresh-powder-review.html hope this helps!

      • Lori

Thank you so much for your help! I’m already planning to buy the Becca Ever Matte foundation which I’ve heard contains a powder and the Ever Matte primer. Do you think those 2 are good picks?

      • Lori

Oh, and I just looked at the powder but it’s hydrating. The very last thing I need is a moisturizer lol. I am incredibly oily. I mean I put on my makeup and in less than 5 mins I’m getting greasy.:(

        • Isabella Muse

it actually sets to a matte finish 🙂 maybe try Urban Decay’s Deslick line? I don’t have a lot of experience with oily skin! I’m dry as hell 😀

          • Lori

I know, I’m a regular reader of your blog. I just love you!!

          • Isabella Muse

awwww right back atcha ;-D thank you so much for reading! I really truly appreciate it ;-D xoxoxoxoxo!

Just picked this up at Marshalls for $12.99. Literally stood in the aisle Googling your review, as I vaguely remembered you liking it. If you need a backup, I suggest stalking your local Marshalls or TJ Maxx!
