Bite Beauty Spiced Plum Amuse Bouche is the brand’s latest, limited edition release for Holiday 2017. This is a gorgeous metallic berry red with a creamy, bold color pay off. It’s a rather stunning Holiday red that I’ve added to my list of pick ups!

You can snatch it up now at Sephora.com.

P.S. Did anyone see Mother this weekend? Did you enjoy it? I love going to the movies and I have a particular fondness for Indie and Foreign films. I was somewhat surprised that Mother was released in major theaters as I expected it to be more of an Indie film, it has that vibe but once you see it you’ll realize the budget far surpassed that of an Indie. I think everyone I went with and everyone that was in the theater when we left had a moment of WTF did I just watch. I’ve seen some wild and crazy films in my life (Hello Uncut version of A Serbian Film!) but none prepared me for Mother.

I think we all naturally head to the Internet and social media as soon as we watch an episode of our favorite TV show or a film. We want to see the reviews, we want to know what other people are thinking, and most importantly we are sometimes looking for answers to questions we have. Some questions that we felt were unanswered, some actor we didn’t know and want to know more about, what did people do before the Internet?!?!?!

Needless to say I spent two hours, TWO HOURS, reading reviews and a variety of posts on Mother and I still cannot figure out half of what I saw in that film. I went into it expecting it to play out like some weird Rosemary’s Baby remake and came out of it scratching my head and not being able to stop discussing it with the friends I went to see it with. I think it didn’t help that I went to watch it before reading reviews or spoilers which means I was completely oblivious to what I was getting into. And even after my google sesh I was still left with many, many unanswered questions.

The most important one?

What was the gorgeous eyeshadow Jennifer Lawrence was wearing on her eyes?!

No, but seriously, Mother was beyond trippy. I won’t ruin it for you but brace yourself. It’s an oddity that will leave you with many, many questions.

Some of which will never be answered.

Beware of comments below, there might be spoilers!

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. I am actually going to see it tonight. I looked for reviews because of the trailer when I saw IT. The reviews couldn’t explain it either and I won’t put the only one that made sense so I won’t ruin it for anyone else. I am not sure what to expect.

    • Isabella Muse

After you watch it, comment me your thoughts, I’m wildly curious what you will think. Anyone else reading here: prepare for spoilers 🙂

Saw Mother! last night and wow the reviews said it was an explosion of a film and the reviews were right. Rosemary’s Baby was mild compared to Mother! My question is why would so many great actors want to be featured in this movie. I think the theme of Mother! was everlasting life!

        • Isabella Muse

Explosive sounds about right! It was just WOW what just happened? So many interesting, unanswered questions. Not sure about everlasting life, I’m leaning more towards the God theory myself! 😀

          • Lucia Vallejo

Thanks for reply and I think seeing Mother! once is enough for me. BTW any sneak peeks regarding a Fall color collection for Revlon 2017? I think Revlon previous new launches or products in October 2017or early 2018. Love your blog and ready it every day.

          • Isabella Muse

Oh gosh no thanks needed 🙂 always a pleasure to speak to you! Haha yeah, once is good! But who knows maybe if we see it a second time we’ll understand it more lol! I have not! Revlon is a little slow going with Fall! If I hear anything I’ll let ya know! Aw thanks xoxoxoxoxo <3!

I still have questions but I did see parallels to Adam & Every and Cain & Able and the symbolism of what was left and what he took from her at the end (can’t spoil everything ) but I can see the trailer advertised it Completely different. A lot of people will walk away disappointed.

          • Isabella Muse

I did as well (after googling lol)! I got the god element myself but I had to read more to get the Adam & Eve element and the mother nature one. But some of it is grossly unexplained. the chaos at the end, the yellow powder, there’s so many things I have questions about ;-D Yes! They actually did themselves a big disservice adverting it as a sort of horror movie as most people will come out hating it because it was wrongly advertised.

In other news. …I ordered this over the weekend. Should have it in a couple days. Gonna be my holiday go to

  • Erin

Want to see Mother, I might try to convince my husband to take me this weekend.

Mostly came to say that I LOVE that lip color. I just wish they’d bring back Mauvember! I missed it last year, and I cry daily.

  • Agona

I’m getting this because it’s their first metallic. Last year, I got Mistletoe thinking it’ll be a good replacement for VIB Rouge but it was too dark of a muted red. I ended up replacing it with Gazpacho as my classic date night red color.

  • kjh

Doubt I’ll see it; too much of a pooo-see. Ltotallyol about what eye shadow….always recognizing lipsticks in films, or needing it instantly. The review quips I read were really polarized. It’s either going to become a total classic, or be generally written off as pretentious and artsy fartsy. As far as artsy fartsy goes, and for the horror genre in general, I really like the Italian gialli. Mario Bavaria and Dario Argento. Profondo Russo with a young, non-porcine David Hemmings? Susperia, the nod in kvd’s lipstick? Yeah. Idk what streaming service has them, but some should pop up live around Halloween in the NYC area. Gialli are a genre unto themselves.

    • Isabella Muse

This is far from gialli although the film’s promotional poster has a certain gialli vibe. This is NOT that though! There’s really not much horror at all about it! Shudder has quite a few available and you can always buy DVDs with several on one 🙂 I’m a fan of the genre as well, they are so vibrantly beautiful!

  • Carol

I had the same reaction to the makeup in Wonder Woman. That lip gloss! So I did Google it and Gal Gadot’s makeup artist had posted the complete product list she used on her because she looked fantastic. I did not see Mother! but my son did and he still can’t wrap his head around what he saw either. His words were: Darren Aranofsky made this movie for Darren Aranofsky. He said it felt intensely personal to the director and that he is the type of filmmaker who needs to bring out his views on the world in a visual way. I’m going to ask my son to go into more detail on the plot as I, too, couldn’t figure out really what it was about from the trailer.
PS: if you find out what eyeshadow she’s wearing please let us know!

    • Isabella Muse

Your son is 200% correct. That is exactly what Darren Aranofsky did. This is a film made by for him, for him. I suppose we’ll never understand it unless he finally comes forward to explain his vision which he has been rather tight lipped about. Some say it’s a slightly metaphor to his own relationship with Jennifer Lawrence considering the age gap is hinted at in the film between the two main characters. Other says it speaks of the turmoil in American today and expresses some of Darren’s political views. It’s just all over the place ;-D Go watch it for yourself. if nothing at all it’ll give you and your son a lot to discuss about ;-D I def will. it’s this gorgeous taupe eye look that made her eyes look incredible!

  • Ann Marie

I saw it this weekend and found myself many times saying WTF? I went home and had to google it to find out what happened. I’m still not sure WHAT happened. The God theory makes sense but still ….. I kept waiting for some answers that never came. Horrible, horrible movie.

    • Isabella Muse

LOL I felt the same way! I’m still have questions! What the hell was the yellow powder being one!

      • Fey

So, I just watched “Mother!” The yellow powder, I believe, is from her paint kit in the first minute of the movie. She mixes the pigment, yellow ochre, into the paint base. It heals her because it is connected with her nature (avoiding spoilers). The reason I believe this is because the brown glass bottle and label matched those in the paint kit perfectly. Also the way the powder disperses into the water acts like paint, the way it disperses.

        • Isabella Muse

I didn’t notice that the labels matched those in her paint kit! WOW that you caught that. But she’s drinking pigment to heal herself!? Sounds so odd! When she becomes pregnant she tosses out, wonder what that symbolizes?

          • Fey P

Hmmm. I thought it was because her creative connection with the house, maybe creating real life vs artistic creation. It may have been a reference to the myth that van Gogh ate yellow paint and may have suffered delusions.

          • Isabella Muse

omg you’re a genius I never made a connection between van gogh and mother! that never even crossed my mind! You’ve just broken my mind! This actually takes things to a more logical level as before it was just a puzzle what it was she was drinking! Very interesting. Now I kind of want to rewatch it!

    • Fey P

I really miss the IMBD forums. That was the best place to find people dissecting movies. Aronofsky is one of my favorite directors since Pi so I’ll have to see this! I’m so intrigued! I remember people walking out of the showing of Noah that I went to, they were so angered. I bet Mother is way worse.

      • Isabella Muse

I do too! people used to have such great answers when anyone answered a question! Reddit is great too! I actually didn’t see Noah but I loved Requiem and the Fountain.

  • Ann Marie

Yeah! What WAS that yellow powder? To get pregnant? AND — why was Michelle Pfeiffer and what’s his face in it at all? I still don’t understand that either. GAH!

    • Isabella Muse

LOL! Yeah lots of burning questions. I guess the theory of them being Adam and Eve was where they were going with it but it just didn’t make sense at all!

  • Ann Marie

OMG my head hurts trying to even comprehend any of this! Clearly I have less brain cells than all of you do!

    • Isabella Muse

Fey’s the real genius here. I never made the paint connection at all! It didn’t cross my mind that the bottles were alike nor did I even think of the Van Gogh reference. But in this case it apparently worked in reverse for Mother as Van Gogh went insane from eating paint but Mother was apparently calmed by drinking it lol too bad Van Gogh wasn’t as lucky! Although, I have my doubts the paint was the issue but perhaps the green fairy creating some sort of chemical imbalance that was already present. But who knows, I’ve never eaten paint lol! I think we should sit down with Fey and rewatch it.

  • kendra blango

i am trying to find and purchase the spiced plum lipstick from the holiday collection is that possible at this time

    • Agona

It’s been sold out for awhile. To be honest, I don’t think you’re missing much. It pulled too brown and too dark on me, and I ended up returning mine. bareMinerals makes a lipstick in their Statement Luxe-Shine line called “Hustler” that I wore through the holidays instead. They describe it as a “red garnet with red pearl” but it is basically a bright warm red with sparkles.
