MAC Look in a Box Little MAC Lipsticks are available in two new Macy’s Exclusive Sets and it got me thinking (use promo code VIP to get the sets for $29.75 with Free Shipping). Do you prefer Holiday Lipstick Sets or Lipgloss Sets?

We haven’t even officially entered the Holiday Season yet and already we have so many great lipgloss and lipstick sets! I have to say though lipgloss sets tend to dominate the makeup world during the Holiday season and lipstick ones are a little rarer but this year I’m seeing more and more of them pop up from a variety of brands.

Bobbi Brown has a stunning Luxe Classics Mini Lip Set available, Smashbox Drawn In. Decked Out. Be Legendary Lipstick & Lip Mattifier Set which includes six mini Be Legendary Lipsticks! Not to mention Lorac wows with not one for two different Alter Ego Lipstick Sets this Holiday season! Kat Von D also has a new liquid lipstick set launching shortly when her Saint & Sinner Eyeshadow Palette hits Sephora.com this week! And of course, Urban Decay joins the crowd with not only a traditional lipstick set that holds five mini Vice Lipsticks but also one that contains four Liquid Vice Lipsticks for fans of long-wearing liquid lipstick! Needless to say there are not shortage of great lipstick sets this year and I’m sure more are to come.

Never mind the sheer amount of lipgloss sets that are popping up! Like I said, we the Holidays aren’t technically even here yet!

Which do you prefer?

Are you more of a Holiday Lipstick Set kinda of gifter and getter or a lipgloss one?

I actually like both but I prefer lipstick ones. I think I’ve been through so many lipgloss sets over the years that I find it novel to indulge in a lipstick set or two which seem to be a little rarer when it comes to Holiday launches.

Which do you like best?

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. I like lipstick sets but mainly to try different colors. Lip gloss may generally look similar as a topper because they’re mostly sheer!

Ooh, lipstick sets all the way! I have approximately 2 gazillion lipsticks so I LOVE the little trial sizes. I hate the feeling of lipgloss so that is a nono for me.

I only own 1 full size lipstick (a red for date night) and 1 full-size tinted lip balm for work. I just don’t use them up so minis all the way for me.

I go back and forth on glosses. I was off them for awhile but now I don’t mind a dab in the center. I just hate when the wind blows my hair into them and then drags across my face. -_-

I love getting flavored lip gloss sets for Christmas. I grew up in the late 70s, early 80s and always got the big Bonne Bell Lip Smacker canes and Kissing Potion sets for Christmas so it’s always fun. I continued to receive Lip Smackers for Christmas and still do and I also give them as gifts. They also wear well under lipsticks so they’re more universal for most but lipstick sets could be fun.

I just recently have started wearing lip color mostly from lip sense. Last year I got the patentpolish set from Mac since it was light colors and loved them!! I kind of want to try the vice liquid lipset. Have you tried any of those liquid lip colors from Urban Decay?

i like both but what i would love to see is colored theme kits. i only wear shades of pink lipsticks so say for example if sephora did give me more lip: the pink edition and didn’t have reds or nudes in there, i’d buy it in a heartbeat!

I’m more a gloss girl. But they need to be pigmented, otherwise it’s like a collection of the same thing, and what’s the fun in that?

  • Michelle

I have to say neither! Lip sets are my least favorite holiday kit as most of the colors I never wear. (yet lip products are my favorite and most purchased makeup product). For the money I rather go to the collection and get the few shades that I like versus get a pack of mini where only 1 seems to look good and the rest don’t look flattering on me.

I am in the minority , but i don’t like either. Don’t kill me ! I just love the way a full sized product feels in my hands when applying! When i see minis, I almost feel like they should be free, and given out as 100 point perks, or samples for customers to try out formulas, colors , wear time etc….. usually , I am not fond of all the colors sold in sets as well . However , I do love the bang for buck you get in sets.
