Sephora Holiday 2017 Gift Sets, Eyeshadow Palettes, and More

Sephora Holiday 2017 arrives today with the limited-edition traditional release of the massive Into the Stars Palette as well as other yummy gift sets, eyeshadow palettes, and brush sets. I always look forward to Sephora’s latest seasonal releases as there’s always a few hits in the midst of all the gift sets. Last year, for me it was the Delicate Eyeshadow Palette and this year it looks like they have something similiar available which is called the Seeing Stars Eyeshadow Palette. If it’s half as good as the Delicate Eyeshadow Palette we’re in for a treat!

There are also plenty of makeup brush sets to look forward to. I always hold a special spot in my heart for Sephora brush sets as they are typically very, very good quality. In most cases, even better than the MAC Holiday Brush Sets!

A few other items that caught my eye were the Winter Magic Eyeshadow Palette which contains an array of beautiful browns and a mere ten bucks also, the Sephora La Piñata which is literally a Pinata stuffed with ten beauty, skincare, and makeup goodies! I see that one selling out fast.

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. Sephora does a great job, IMO, of having many different price points for their Holiday offerings. Some of this looks pretty cool and most are reasonably priced!

What is your opinion on Sephora holiday brush sets? Do you think they generally are as good as their permanent brush lines, or are they kind of a crappier version?

    • Isabella Muse

I agreed 100%! I’ve always had quite great success with their holiday range of brushes. Very good quality (I can’t speak for this year though), excellent sturdy hands, soft bristles, no shedding, and they stick around for years! MAC holiday Brush sets were always my fav but in recent years they suck! Spending $$ on Sephora’s is the way to go imho!

The Sephora Pro brushes are amazing. If you can hold out though, they almost always go on sale after the holiday. I’ve bought them individually for less than half price each. They have some unique brushes, such as a domed crease which I love.

I like the coolness of the Once Upon A Look palette and its tempting me. My only hesitation is that the photo could be way off…what do you think?

    • kjh

Caught my eye, too. I’d look in person, if you can. S.t. It’s 20 thousand boxes on endcaps and no touchable display, at both U and S. Also, s.t. the offshore mfg (read PRC; many brands majorly crank out there for holiday) could be checked. Reg Sephora e/s is usually France or Italy, and rarely other countries. Tarte and tf are also noted for this holiday PRC mfg. Don’t know if I’d order a house brand palette blind, though I have bought and made a few, non holiday. And there’re decent to good. Idk about the brush sets…whether they offshore them. S’s brush reputation is quite good, and some are stellar.

Ahhhh! I can’t even handle myself right now! Breathe. I can hold out until the 20% coupon…. I loved the blush/bronzer/highlight quad from last year so I have high hopes for this year’s blush quad and highlight palette. Also the fox mask and pinata are totes adorable! I’m enjoying the giftability of the holiday collection. There are so many affordable little sets to get the makeup lovers in my life.

  • Tay

Omg, the new bags!! However, I need another bag like I need a hole in the head lol. But I definitely need that fox mask in my life.

  • Agona

Whoa. Lot of options this year. I need to start making a list for gifts–I usually purchase them during the 20% sale. My mom, SIL, and two besties have birthdays around Nov/Dec so I usually have to stock up on 4 x 2 (8 gifts!). I like gifting beauty items because I know they won’t buy it for themselves. 🙂

It just occurred to me as I was again looking at the Once Upon A Look palette — this reminds me of the Light and Filter palettes that Sephora put out a couple of years ago; I think they may have been on clearance recently. I had all three of them including the cooler, “cloudy” palette and they were just OK. So now I can pass on this one and my wallet can have a momentary respite.

  • Carolyn (Deux)

OMG! The Into the Stars Palette just looks like a mechanical wonder to me, LOL. Wowsa.
But I think the last one, the Winter Magic palette is just gorgeous and might have to come home with me, lol. So pretty. 😀

  • Kristin Ann

I ordered the In To The Stars palette (& got it recently so been messing with it), it’s awesome if I had to pick one thing off that list this would be it! I’m frugal & this checks off all the boxes for a fun gift any lady will love.

  • Sephorashopper

Is the sephora Wonderful Stars Eye and Face Palette pigmented to any extent.

    • Agona

I actually bought this on a whim because I loved the star-shaped pans (terrible reason, I know). It’s not as pigmented as I would like but builds without issue.

However, I did notice that while it wouldn’t get muddy during application, for some reason, at the end of the day, the look turned muddy. I love this palette for work because I do a conservative neutral look for work and no crease work, I just gradient the colors from lash upwards. But would I buy to gift to anyone else? No and especially not to a beginner. I’m not sure I would’ve purchased it if I had known what I know now before I bought it. That being said, I still think it’s cute and fun to play with and a cheap thrill for $16 so I don’t regret the purchase either.
