Yay or Nay: Huda Beauty Desert Dusk Eyeshadow Palette

I receive a small commission if you shop through my link.

Did you haul the Huda Beauty Desert Dusk Eyeshadow Palette yet? This is Huda’s second palette and it is amazing! Some people aren’t terribly impressed because her mattes run dense and drier but I love her formula for some reason. It applies and it looks so seamless. Almost as if I airbrushed my eyeshadow onto my lid. She improved upon the texture a good deal in this palette compared to the Rose Gold formula. The mattes are a bit softer and easier to apply but there are a few duds with really chunky glitter! Regardless, I was pretty happy with it overall.

It has a lot of the same shades as Urban Decay’s Naked Heat Eyeshadow Palette as well as Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance but with dusky purples thrown in as well.

So, thus far in my testing stage I’m giving it a great big yay! I’m liking it and I can see myself getting a lot of use out of these shades for Fall. They are a lot less powdery than the Modern Renaissance Palette and there are more transitional shades compared to Naked Heat.

What do you think of it?

Yay or Nay?

Do share!

Stay tuned for my review and swatches!

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. Big ol’ YAY! I got it yesterday and although I haven’t had a chance to wear it yet, I’m loving the colors, even more than the Rose Gold palette. I think we are in the minority, Muse, because we both liked Rose Gold.

We are indeed! I heard very poor reviews on Rose Gold but I loved it. I totally understand why people hated it but for some reason it just worked for me! 😀 and this is just as wonderful!!!!! ;-D can’t wait for you to dig in!

These are gorgeous colors, but it will not work for me. I’m sure some of them would, but I don’t really need another palette. But if I was filthy rich, yup I would purchase this. I am sure Sephora is happy with me, I have 5 boxes coming tomorrow. They don’t need anymore of my money. Well this week.

Yes indeed, gorgeous colors but too orange-y for me. As I’ve gotten older and my hair is gradually turning white, it’s funny how some colors I used to love don’t work any more. Never could wear orange but now my old fave yellow is a no-go as well.

Yay! I’ve had my eye on this one since it was first teased and I snatched it up the minute it was available on Sephora. It’s out for delivery today & I’m excited! I didn’t get the Rose Gold textured palette bc I literally have a dupe for every single shade but this one just calls to me. I have the palettes you mentioned plus the Peachy Matte, so I know I’ll have a lot of similar shades but there are just some shades & textures in Desert Dusk that are amazing (I love the Matte purple & the idea of the lid toppers, like KVD’s Alchemy but w/more shimmer).

    * & they’re larger sized pans, .049oz each I think (powers of division lol!).

Hopefully that gorgeous purple lid topper shade doesn’t fall out of the pan like I saw on YT! I’m glad you’re enjoying yours as well, Isabella!

Mine should be delivered today! I can’t wait. I loved the Rose Gold palette (negative reviews be damned!) and am excited to compare the formulas.

I just barely got the Rose Gold palette, lol. If the formulas are similar I will play with mine and decide on getting this one or not, maybe I should wait until the end of year 20% off!!

    Hiya Isabella et AL.,

I just purchased this palette yesterday, my first Huda product, and sadly, I’m disappointed. I read reviews before my purchase including on even on Temptalia (and it wasn’t the most positive of her reviews, but I figured even at a B-, I’d be happy enough). I tested it in store (it ended up being a comfort purchase), and yet I was very disappointed once I used it. It went on very muted compared to the swatches and even when trying to build it. I used flat brushes, natural, synthetic, and fingers, and still no “pop”! It wore well, but it’s just not as pigmented as when I watched it. I’m almost wondering if my palette was somehow drier than the test one, because I was so surprised. That said, I won’t give up yet, I’ll try different primers or other mediums to attempt to achieve that sparkle!

oh no! Sorry JL! might I suggest using an eyeshadow sponge applicator for application? Those pack on colors very well! These are def drier and denser though unfortunately!
