MAC It’s Snowing Extra Dimension Eyeshadow is one of five limited edition shades that launched with the MAC Snow Ball Holiday 2017 Collection. It’s been a while since I purchased MAC Eyeshadow but now was a good time to do so as the Holiday Collection is quite stunning. Housed in fine beige gold compacts with a crack ice finish and a snowflake design embossed on the shadows you can obviously understand what makes these so very appealing.

Not to mention these all of these are the yummy, creamy Extra Dimension Eyeshadow formula.

Here’s a look!

MAC Extra Dimension Eyeshadow has launched and relaunched in a variety of collections since their introduction back in 2012. These are a hybrid formula created by combining a blend of creams, liquids, powders, and pearls and proceeding to drain all the liquid out of the formula, molding and shaping it into a cake. Whats left of the formula is pure pigment and pearl. It’s a slurry-like eyeshadow formula with a smooth texture that has the finish of the powder but the texture resembles a cream on some levels. It’s different for MAC that’s for sure and at its release it was innovative as well.

The shadow be used wet or dry but I prefer dry myself. However, wet gives them a much more intense color pay off as well as a liquid metal or chrome look. None the less there’s plenty of refined shimmer here but not chunks of glitter or shimmer but more of a frosty shimmer. They do tend to crease and fade a good deal so a primer or a cream base is always a great way to keep them in place. They apply very easily with zero fall out.

One of the shades I picked up was It’s Snowing which MAC describes as a pinky purple. I was hoping for a taupe-y mauve but it’s more of a pinkish mauve with a brownish undertone. It’s a pretty shade because it actually somehow managed to contrast itself. I applied it all over my lid up into my crease below and you can see towards the outer eye and gets a little deeper in color. It’s almost as if I have two different shades on that create a certain contrasting shadow. I love that look and I didn’t even have to use two or more shades to get it.

Overall, the MAC It’s Snowing Extra Dimension Eyeshadow and all the Snow Ball Eyeshadows are worth exploring. They did an excellent job with the packaging and formulas this year.

MAC It’s Snowing Extra Dimension Eyeshadow is available at maccosmetics.com, ulta.com, nordstrom.com, and macys.com.

A majority of stores are out of stock but I’m hoping to see a restock at some point.

I really hope they restock too! Maybe just a ploy to create the illusion of scarcity, so we jump when they restock. These look great. The extra dimension eyeshadows I have in my collection really are something extra.

I feel like this year the holiday collection sold out faster than any other year!

  • Christina

Pretty! I’m glad I was able to pick up a few shades to play with. After my Nordstrom fiasco, though, it was a mad goose chase around town. LOL! I’m looking forward to playing with my It’s Snowing shade.

I don’t know when these release in the UK, but I hope I can get hold of one! Any colour will do me, I just love the snowflake design 😛 This is the first MAC holiday collection in a long time I’ve really wanted anything from!

    • Isabella Muse

I can’t blame you the snowflake design and the gold compact are just stunning!

      • Kay

Totally keeping the MAC UK homepage open on all my devices so I can pounce when the collection drops! I may also be in the market for a lipstick, the gold packaging is so gorgeous on both!

        • Isabella Muse

It didn’t launch yet across the pond? I thought it arrived already! Happy Shopping!

          • Kay

Launched today! I totally missed out on all the eyeshadows online while I was at work, checked at 10 am and they were gone. Except for Starry, Starry Night, and in spite of what I said I really can’t get excited about any kind of super dark eyeshadow as they just don’t work for me. At least I got lipstick 😉

          • Isabella Muse

that’s loco! I’m sorry Kay! I was so hoping Starry, Stary Night would be a nice taupe but it was darker than i expected. Damn! Which lipstick did ya get? Off topic but I saw Selfridges has the TF White Chocolate Palette! Weeee!

How super on you! It does look like at least 2 shades. The imprint is delightful, too. Think I only have Fathoms Deep, and it’s neglected. Fun formula, though. I hate the MAC chase and won’t play anymore, but this sure is pretty.

I agree, I love the eyeshadow and this entire Snow Ball collection. I bought “It’s Snowing” and “Snow Winked” and both are just gorgeous. I bought so many products from the first release that I’m hoping the second release (I heard November?) doesn’t have any fabulous items that I want. My credit card needs a break!

Kinda reminds me of their Snowgirl Collection from 2002. I still have Pink Flurry and Seedy Pearl plus a tee-shirt. Thanks for the review. Will wait for them to restock!

    • Isabella Muse

take it way back ;-D I still have some of the items from Snowgirl! Can’t use them anymore but still have ’em ;-D

  • Kay

Same here! I would totally have ordered taupe. I went for Warm Ice and I’m Glistening, I have no idea if they’ll suit me but the silver one from Glitter and Ice in 2011 didn’t either but I still love it 😉 And that’s awesome, I need to check it out!

    • Isabella Muse

It looked taupe-y in images but it isn’t boooo! Those are both nice! I felt the same about the one I got, it’s too shimmery for me but I still love it hehe ;-D so long as we love it that’s all that matters right? 😀 Not so sure it’s a great pick as it contains a lot of pastels but I was still excited to see it launch already in the UK!

This is the only color I was able to get before they sold out,I’m waiting for it to arrive,it’s really pretty 🙂 this is my favorite formula too! I hope they make some of these permanent since I can’t get any others from this collection lol
