Too Faced Primed & Peachy Cooling Matte Perfecting Primer ($32) is a new mattifying facial primer that launched with the Sephora Exclusive Peaches & Cream Collection earlier last month. Too Faced promotes this formula as a cooling formula that blurs the appearance of pores and fine lines and smooths skin while brightening your complexion and extending the wear of makeup. Apparently, it has 12 hours of shine control and helps to keep your foundation wearing for 16.

Damn!

I’m in on that 16 hour of wear foundation.

Here’s what happened when I tried it.

Too Faced Primed & Peachy Cooling Matte Perfecting Primer comes housed in a 1.35 oz tube with an attached pump. At first I was a little bit taken back by the price but I quickly reminded myself the brand’s typical primers are around $30 and contain a little less product (1 oz). The tube is quite cute in design with ombre peach coloring and a cute peach decorating the front of the tube.

This formula reminds me a little of my favorite Revlon PhotoReady Perfecting Primer as it’s thicker and creamier in texture with a quick to absorb formula. I find silicone primers lay on top of my drier skin unnaturally or sometimes they pill. Not the case at all with Revlon’s formula nor this formula. It applies very easily and absorbs quickly. It’s a soft, peach-tinted shade but applies transparent on my skin. Too Faced says it has a comfort matte finish and that’s indeed what it provides. It is matte in finish but doesn’t look nor feel dry on my already dry skin. It’s lightweight, breathable, and barely there.

I don’t have finer lines or visible pores aside from the ones on my nose but you can instantly see how much softer and smoother my skin looks once I apply this. It sets a nice smooth canvas for foundation without being itchy or cloying. However, it did allow my foundation to wear long as it provided a solid base for it to adhere to but I definitely did not experience a huge extension to the normal wear of my coverage, like say 16 hours. That didn’t happen!

I did test it in pretty warm weather last week when I was in New Orleans and it held out nicely in the warm weather but again, I didn’t experience 12 hours of mattifying coverage. I had an oily forehead within six hours while outdoors after application. Keep in mind, I have dry skin so I imagine you’ll experience even less oil control if you have super oily skin.

As promised it does have a cooling feel. It’s quite refreshing but I don’t think this adds skincare benefits to the formula. It just feels nice and cool going on which is novel but that’s about the extent of it. It does have a lovely peach scent which I wasn’t bothered for but sensitive users might not appreciate the scent.

All in all, Too Faced Primed & Peachy Cooling Matte Perfecting Primer is something I would consider purchasing again. I liked how it wore under my foundation, I found it applied easily, and it gave my skin a nice smooth look.

Have you tried the First Aid Beauty coconut water primer (something like that)? I can’t recall if you reviewed that one, but it has me curious.

I have tried, haven’t reviewed yet though! Nice consistent, little thicker than this, absorbs easily 😀

I’ll keep an eye out. I saw Sephora has a smaller size and I do like their products so I think it’ll be coming home with me eventually. But I’d like to hear your thoughts.

You were in New Orleans and didn’t let me treat you to a coffee or cocktail??! We are not blog friends anymore.
    ;P

So how did you like it here?

I even FORGOT you were in NOLA ;-D I think we discussed it once before. I love it. It’s one of my favorite cities. I’ve been a million times but it’s always such a magical place ;D

Sorry if it’s a dumb question, but do you think you can wear this by itself? It sounds great, and you did mention that it goes on translucent, but it looks a little light even when you blended the swatch out on your skin.

You can wear any primer by itself for sure. If you just want to smooth out your skin and give it a softer look any primer including this one can be worn alone 🙂 I didn’t get any tint or coverage with it. Once it absorbed into my skin the color didn’t show up for me. Applied completely clear 🙂
