Are You Willing To Buy the Drunk Elephant The Trunk?

I receive a small commission if you shop through my link.

The new, limited edition The Drunk Elephant The Trunk Vault launched today for the Holiday 2018 season and it includes a slew of full-size skincare goodies from the brand. But are you willing to dish out for this premium vault?

This is a lot to splurge in one go as it is $425 but it includes $556 worth of Drunk Elephant Skincare. I can see it being pretty popular if you had planned on doing a mega skincare haul during the Sephora 20% Rouge Event.

I’ve tried really hard to love Drunk Elephant but everything I’ve tried from them hasn’t really produced visible results. It really want to love the line but it just isn’t me. It does have a major cult following though and I know many of you love it. Not sure, how many people are willing to dish $425 on this vault though in one go. But I can see it happening if you can also snag it at an additional 20% Off as that’s a great line of products at a terrific savings!

The Vault includes:

  • Pekee Bar
  • T.L.C. Sukari Babyfacial
  • Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil
  • T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Night Serum
  • B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Gel
  • Lala Retro Whipped Cream
  • Shaba Complex Eye Serum
  • Umbra Sheer Physical Daily Defense
  • C-Firma Day Serum

Drunk Elephant The Trunk is available now at Sephora.com for a limited time.

Do you think it’s a vault you’d be interesting in hauling?

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. I’ve tried a few items. Not my favorite brand for sure. Actual the daily defense made me break out, so I returned it. The whipped cream is ok. Nothing great. It’s an expensive brand and like you, I saw no results.

    • Isabella Muse

I’m glad I’m not alone! Some people really, really love it but it never really worked for me!

  • MJ

In my experience, their line works for my skin if I only use DE brand products and also avoid wearing much base makeup. It’s just too pricey for me.

  • Janie

I’m a big fan although I don’t use them exclusively. I tried to but the sunscreen was too greasy/shiny. I tried to swap my Paula’s Choice BHA with the Framboos serum but it’s just too strong for everyday so I use it once a week followed by the Lala cream and my face feels great the next day. I use the C-Firma every morning – I love it because it spreads a bit more than Paula Choice’s vitamin C product (plus it’s in an air-tight bottle). I notice my skin being duller and having more texture if I skip it but that goes for skipping any vitamin C serum. Their bars are the only things I’ve tried that cleared up the KP/”chicken skin” on my arms. The only item that was a big disappointment was the facial oil – didn’t do anything for me. Dermstore has 20% off sales more frequently than Sephora so I usually re-up then.

    • Isabella Muse

damn I wish it worked as well for me as it does for you Janie! I tried a lot of the line but I’m just not seeing the results I had hoped for. Sad panda!

You might want to try Cosrx BHA from Ulta or Amazon. I’m a long term Paula fan, eventually settled on the Resist bha. It’s the wateriest. It seems to be gradually replaced by the Cosrx, esp in cooler months. You can read reviews on Ulta. Cosrx isn’t reviewed on Beautypedia, and that surprises me. I’m aging (aged) oily, dehydrated. It does not bug my skin, despite using differin. But, i’m also WAY habituated to bhas, as i’m allergic to BP. Also, check the Ordinary on Beautylish. Can’t speak for them, as W/Cosrx, all set. Love Cosrx. Except a few outliers, all my products are Paula or Cosrx.

      • Janie

Thanks! I tried several things from The Ordinary since they were so inexpensive but it was pretty hit or miss, even adding /trying things one at a time and not going in with all new stuff at once. But I’ll check out Cosrx’s BHA. I wish Beautypedia could keep up with the brands and products better but it must be overwhelming since so much new stuff launches so often.

      • Millay

Can you share what else you use from Cosrx aside from the BHA? I have the snail essence and am interested in branching out but am not sure what to get.

  • Stacey

I got the Lala Retro Whipped Cream and it didn’t work for me. If anything I think it dried out my skin??? I would get really fine lines/dry skin flakes on my face after using this.

    • Isabella Muse

that’s how I felt about the hydra gel! didn’t do anything and felt like it made me drier!

    • Andi

omgosh – I thought it was just me! I bought the DE sampler and have been using it for a couple weeks. I had been in Denver last week which is why I thought I was drier, but even after coming home I still feel dry. Yesterday I ran my hand over my forehead and thought – wow I’m super flaky dry. Of all things my forehead is never dry! So I’m going to start using the Farmacy kit I bought and see if it helps.

  • Millay

I’ve tried the Lala Retro cream but while it’s good, it’s not “that price-tag good”. I find REN to be pretty equivalent for me (love the Evercalm stuff) and it has more reasonable pricing.

  • Amber G.

I’m in love with the Babyfacial, marula oil and night serum! I’ve noticed great benefits to my skin. The LaLa Retro is eh, though. I want to try the C-Firma next. I know this trunk is not in my future, though…even with the Rouge discount!

  • Jackie

I’m a fan, but not of everything, mostly just the serums. Not everything works with my skin, or is worth the price. I won’t buy it though because there are too many products I won’t use. Marula oil just isn’t coming near my face lol.

  • kel h.

i love the name but haven’t tried any of the products yet. this is definitely a haul for the die hard fan!

  • Krutika

Hi girlie!!! So, I’ve gone back and forth with a lot of products in the line but stuck religiously to the hydra gel and Marula oil.. but, a couple weeks ago, my skin was uber red and sensitive so I decided to try all the products again but this time only use everything from the line exclusively and, and removing a lot of skincare products with essential oils and irritating ingredients.. I feel like that has made a difference! I know it’s hard to stick to one line given testing products is something you do, but give it a shot if you have that bandwidth.

    • Isabella Muse

thanks Krutika! I’ve heard that if you use DE you need to stick to their routine only and you’ll see the best results. Maybe I’ll try that out because I have so many of their products and they are getting no love ;D

  • Brandy

I haven’t tried this brand yet because of the price tag, but they have great ingredients! I’ve tried some Paula’s Choice and Cerave, but they didn’t keep me moisturized like the Clinique Moisture Surge line. It seems like products that get the thumbs up on Beautypedia make my skin very unhappy. Maybe all the active ingredients are too much for my finicky skin.

  • Leih

I tried the Good Genes and Luna night serum and I really wanted to love them…. but my skin just could not handle the Good Genes and the Luna was so strongly scented I couldn’t deal with that. I think Luna may have actually given me an allergic reaction. Hype hype!

    • Isabella Muse

aw 🙁 sorry to hear! I really liked Good Genes! it was a lot more gentle than I expected it to be!

  • Shannon. N

I would be highly interested in this, but we wont get this here in ze canada. 🙁

I want to try their tinted SPF so badly. but it’s not approved/sold here in canada yet!!!

  • Michelle

I actually just bought this last night with the Rouge discount. Fell in love with the marula oil and the baby facial so wanted to try the whole range. While I normally think the whole ‘only use our line’ is marketing.. in this case it makes perfect sense. Even my derm told me to stay away from perfumed stuff, essential oils, etc. so it makes sense that using these things would negate the effects of DE. I hope I don’t regret the whole trunk but in either event that is my happy birthday and merry christmas to myself! Here’s hoping for wonderful!

      • Michelle

Thanks Isabella! I am on Day 3 and am SMITTEN. Not a single product I don’t love… and that Babyfacial is EVERYTHING!!! It is a bit weird to adjust to no fragrance… I take for granted how much stuff is added to products, but it feels strangely liberating. Like I am just a bit more granola now and loving it LOL.

        • Isabella Muse

LOL you are adorable Michelle 😀 I loved the granola comment ;-D Glad you are enjoying it all! I really like the baby exfoliator too! good stuff 😀

  • Bee

I actually bought this from their website and I will be receiving it tomorrow. I’m new to the brand, so I took a chance. I used a 20% discount code, so I paid $340 for the set (Thankfully, they didn’t charge me sales tax). I’m hoping I love the brand! I ran out of a lot of skincare products that aren’t doing anything for my skin, so I feel $340 for all of those products is a steal. My skin type is oily and I do have some hyper-pigmentation. Wish me luck lol

    • Hanna

It’s sold out on Sephora so I haven’t been able to use the 20% VIB discount (which is why I haven’t bought it yet). May I ask how you got the 20% discount on Drunk Elephant? I would love to order this directly from Drunk Elephant if I could get 20% off. Thank you!

      • Isabella Muse

I know they had 20% off a few week’s ago but maybe signing up for their newsletter will get you a discount or try retailmenot.com for coupons!

  • Molly

This is the absolute best skin care line I’ve ever used- but I have clear skin. If you have problem skin, then maybe it doesn’t work for you. However, I don’t see how it’s possible for it to be irritating since it’s non-toxic. Any irritation you experience is most likely because of the high concentration of effective ingredients (which is a good thing). Just use these less frequently.

Every product I’ve used (and I’ve used all of them) feels absolutely luxurious and hydrating on the skin. Vitamin C Serum and LaLa Retro Whipped cream are the two best products I’ve ever used. Highly recommend. I stock up on all of these products any time there is a sale.
