Gal Gadot New Face of Revlon, Mario Dedivanovic Eyeshadow Palette, and More Makeup News

I wanted to start a new section around here for makeup news briefing that way I can compile some of the more interesting topics in the makeup and beauty world happening during the week. What do you think?

Hopefully you like the idea.

Here’s what’s happening this week!

Did you love the Anastasia Beverly Hills Master Palette by Mario as much as I did? You may or may not be happy to hear Mario Dedivanovic is working with his long time client, Kim Kardashian, to create a new makeup palette. It appears they are working on an eyeshadow palette together which will be launched under the KKW Beauty brand which is Kim’s new makeup collection.

I know many of you have no love for the Kardashians but I respect their hustle and I’d be curious what sort of palette Kim can create with Mario on board because if you dislike Kim, Mario is still a very well respected and talented makeup artist.

There’s no word when this palette will launch or even if it is a palette at all but we shall see in the coming weeks ahead.

In other news, the beautiful, stunning, gorgeous, and talented Gal Gadot is the new face of Revlon. I expected to see Gwen in more ads for Spring 2018 as she only appeared in like two adverts for them but she’s out and Gal’s in and hey, I’m positive I’m going to want to buy more red lipstick now because Gal rocks a red lip like no one’s business. I hope to see her in more ads than I did Gwen!

In the latest Trump-Gate scandal word broke that tax payers are the ones paying makeup artists for Kellyanne Conway, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, and others. Former President Obama made White House Officials pay for their own makeup. This is currently breaking the Internet as most people aren’t really happy that the American tax payer’s dollar is being used to make White House Officials glamorous.

What do you think?

Imagine a world where you had a device to measure your UV exposure. That world is a reality thanks to a new tiny electronic sensor that L’Oreal revealed at CES this week. You can wear the senor anywhere and it will measure your exposure to the sun and track it via an app. This in turn can provide you with useful information about your exposure to harmful sun rays and you can take better precautions against it by applying more SPF or heading into the shade.

Can someone create a wearable for protecting me against UV rays? I’d be all about not having to apply SPF everyday.

Any interesting makeup news you’d like to share?

Do tell me!

I have no interesting news to share, but just wanted to let you know that I think this is a neat feature to have on your site. I like hearing about news in the industry, and unless I’m following every darn company and person on instagram, I sometimes miss things.

The Trump scandal is new to me and does irritate me. Why should our hard earned dollars go towards making them beautiful; if I’m going to pay for makeup, it better darn go to me! LOL!

    • Isabella Muse

I’m so glad you feel that way! ;-D I thought it would be fun to compile all the crazy stuff I read throughout the day and bring it into one post 😉 I’m torn about the makeup artist thing to be honest. There are some jobs that do offer an expensive account to their employees so I feel like this isn’t any different however, I also feel like, “Wait, there are SO many other important things that they should spending money on and it shouldn’t be someone having a makeup artist all their own!”

      • Kim

The difference is, those are taxpayer dollars, not private money. That money is supposed to go to things that improve the lives of the people in this country. That is public money for the public good. If Kellyanne and Sanders and anyone else want to look a little better on screen when they’re spewing their “alternative facts,” that should be on their dime, not ours.

        • Isabella Muse

I’m actually torn about it as I’m tax money has gone to the plenty of other stupid stuff in the past. Someone mentioned they’d be interested to know if past president’s have had stylists or even barbers that were paid for. I haven’t researched that in all honesty but I’d be curious to see if indeed that has been footed by tax payers as well and if so, I guess why not makeup artists too!?!?! It’s a double-edged sword.

          • Jane

I don’t know about other admins, but I know the Obama admin made people pay for their own.

  • Chris

All the makeup in the world cannot help Sarah or Kellyanne in Trumpworld! JMO. Not happy that we as taxpayers are paying for makeup artists in the WH. But this is minor compared to what his Cabinet people are doing. JMO.

Yes, ‘Wonder Woman’ with her Mediterranean features definitely rocks the red lipstick.

Thanks for the latest beauty news.

  • Satinder

I really like this new section on your website. It keeps us up to date on beauty news. Love it!

  • Laurie

Does the collab look to you like a gray palette? If so, I may need to add an exception to my anti-Kardashian stance.

    • Isabella Muse

they intentionally grayed it out via a filter. No word on exact shades sadly!

  • Laurie

Like everyone else, this is a unique feature I’m glad to see. Thanks for keeping it fresh!

  • Jane

    Nice feature!

I’m not commenting on the Russia Today makeup artist being paid for by taxpayers for I have too many words and your blog is generally apolitical and I will respect that. : )

Please hear the following as me screaming: oh my god, I love Gal Gadot. She is gorgeous and seems well spoken and a lovely actress to watch. I greatly enjoyed her on the SNL skit, “the girl ate the last fry.”

  • Susan

I like the feature very much. Refuse to buy anything with a Kardashian name on it, though!

    • Lisa C

Totally agree! Sorry Mario but with K’s name attached, it won’t happen.

  • Carol

Gal Gadot as the Revlon spokesperson? Woohoo! I absolutely LOVE her. I saw Wonder Woman 4 times in the theater because of her and that beautiful face of hers. She is absolutely stunning. But she is sooooo down to earth as I have seen her interviewed many times. You can tell she is just the nicest person, really genuine. Bravo to Revlon, a very smart move on their part. Looking forward to her advertisements.

    • Isabella Muse

she really is gorgeous!!!!!!! I’m looking forward to see her in ads!

  • kjh

Excellent idea. That White House had better hire Pat McGrath, and soon. It’s going to take s.o. of that stellar caliber to make THEM look good…..and, that, of course, is only the outside. The inside is hopeless.

  • Lacy

I’m also digging this new makeup news thread! It’s great! I learned wonder woman will be the new face for revlon and about a mario collab with kim k. Already knew about the trump tragedy so just another eye roll moment! No surprise with all the other stuff that goes on! Thanks Muse! It’s a thumbs up for me! 🙂

  • Maria

Sorry but I do not purchase anything with Kardashian or Jenner on it. Why can’t Mario D have his own beauty line like Rihanna or collaborate with ABH like before or another major brand?

  • Stephanie

Hi Muse! I really enjoyed reading these beauty news so I look forward to more in the future.

Gal Gadot is so beautiful! I bet she got many offers from other beauty brands to be their model/spokesperson, not just Revlon. I can’t wait to see her ads with the brand.

    • Isabella Muse

thanks Stephanie glad to hear it ;-D <3! Gal is beyond gorgeous isn't she!?

  • wendy

I can’t believe I’m reading “politics” on this site. I like the idea of beauty news but I’m REALLY sad to see it go to politics. I come here to get away from politics and everyone’s opinions on the subject. I get more than my fill of that on FB. UGH.

  • CL

Trump’s entire gang is sucking up taxpayer dollars like nobody’s business. It’s called a “kleptocracy.”

  • Jules

I like the new feature, too!

As far as the White House makeup artist… I’ll have to research what has been traditionally paid for the men that face the press. If they routinely pay for other personal services, like barbers and tailors, etc., then I actually applaud paying for the women’s makeup, since it is generally expected for a women to look professional (not arguing that women SHOULD wear makeup to look professional, just that they often DO).

No love here for any of the participants, but I guess even a stopped clock is right twice a day…

    • Isabella Muse

Thanks Julies! You bring up a GREAT point about that and I’m going to research it and see. I’d be curious of past presidents have had stylists or barbers/etc!

  • christine Valle

KK, is not worthy of mention in your column. You are right about people not liking her or her family. I would NEVER buy anything that they had touched. Such a waste of space.

As a taxpayer, No I don’t want to pay for their makeup. I wil mail some paper bags if they’d use them.

  • Dee

I like the news feature. Great idea! WH staffers should pay for their own makeup.

  • kel habicht

love this! love that revlon video. gal gadot is just so cool and confident. excellent choice for wonderwoman. she seems smart and her confidence radiates through. and i had no idea the T was pronounced in gadot!

as for that kelly ann conway picture…..ugh those nails! gross.

  • Susan

p.s. I do think politics in any form should be avoided here. Ditto religion (not that you have, afaik).

    • Isabella Muse

I try to avoid politics/religion that’s not what the blog is about. I apologize if anyone was offended!

      • Susan

To clarify, I wasn’t offended except by the Obama-bashing comment. I do think anything about a political figure, no matter how remote, might not be well-received.

        • Isabella Muse

Just to clarify, I didn’t bash Obama, Trump, or any other president. I thought the post would be well received because it was makeup related :-/ Sorry about that!

          • Susan

I know you didn’t, but the commenters did! That’s where I got bothered. 🙁

          • Isabella Muse

I’m sorry Susan, politics will def be kept out of the makeup news briefing from here on out 🙂 This morning’s version is completely politic-free 😀

  • Dee

    Hi,

I really like everything in this article. I’m okay with the political news that is directly related to beauty and I don’t think it’s any different than if you posted about plastic beads in skincare or when you acknowledge how many people won’t touch a Kardashian product. I mean, maybe it’s the way all the other media sources are treating news about politicians but it all just reads like celebrity news to me anyway. But that’s just me. I like your articles, I think you presented it in an unbiased/’this is beauty news also in case your interested’ sort of way and I respect your decision on how you want to continue.

    • Isabella Muse

thanks Dee 🙂 that’s pretty much what I was going for. Def not trying to make any point about politics. But I think it came across as something else. Will def avoid politics in future posts 😀 but thanks for the support!

  • wendy

There was ONE obama comment and several Trump comments. Sorry you were so “bothered” by one comment. But again, this is the reason politics should never be on this site, it’s only going to bring drama. I know Isabella has good intentions, she’s awesome and I LOVE her and her blog.

    • Susan

Yes, one comment did bother me, no quotes needed, as bothered means bothered. Agree with you about Isabella for sure! One of the best blogs out there. 😀

      • Isabella Muse

aw thanks Susan <3! Again, I'm sorry anything that was said upset you guys! <3!

  • Paige

I’m OK with this particular tax payer spend because women are judged so harshly on how they look on camera and at events, that their message being delivered may even be completely lost as the public and media focus on their looks. I thank social media for that “little” hassle.

  • YezzL

Great idea about the news post! I’m very excited to see the Revlon ads with Gal Gadot/Wonder Woman as well. I love the red outfits and lipstick she is wearing. I’m wonder which shade it is so I can buy it right away. LoL .

I follow her on social media and that’s how I first heard about the news but I wasn’t aware about the news on Kellyanne Conway and the others. I’m not happy to hear that they are using tax payers dollars on their makeup needs but as others have pointed, I would like to know more information whether the men get a similar treatment and how much it is costing.

I believe your post was unbiased, informative, and I didn’t find it offensive. I have my own political views and respect the views of others even if I don’t accept or understand their thought process.

Keep up with the great work! Looking forward to your posts on the spring releases.

    • Isabella Muse

Thanks Yezz! I am very excited to see Gal in Revlon ads as well!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’m glad to hear that as I def don’t want to offend anyone with posts about my makeup that was never my intent 🙂 Thanks for sharing your thoughts/views!!!!!!!!!!!! xoxox!

  • Robin H. rrhawk

I am not happy to pay for their makeup artists. It would be nice if the respective political parties could arrange a stipend or budget for this considering all the ridiculous money it costs to run etc. Now for the fun stuff,I like makeup news. This is fun for me and I hope you continue with it. Keep up the good work, looking forward to your next post.

    • Isabella Muse

thanks Robin I’m glad you are liking it and thanks for sharing your thoughts will def do more in the future 😀

  • ruth

My eyes leaked all the way through Wonder Woman! I hope Revlon will up the quality of their products to be worthy of Gal as their spokesperson. When Lynda was Maybelline’s rep in the 80’s, it was AWESOME to see Wonder Woman while watching cartoons. I hope young people have that same excitement I did when I saw my hero unexpectedly.

  • Charmaine Cropper

Loving the new section with makeup new briefs. It’s going top make for some lively discussions both on and off your site…as it was in my office today. I brought up the KKW collab, and OMGosh…a collective gasp, and mumblings of sibling rivalry. Clearly she wants to outdo Kylie. However, she ha enough followers that may make it a success. Not me, and not anyone around my office! LOL!

    • Isabella Muse

thanks!!!!!!! LOL I love your office. Water cooler makeup chat ;-D hehe!

  • genevieve

This will prove to be an excellent venue to keep us all abreast of what is happening in the makeup world.
Re Revlon – I haven’t bought any of their products for years because I was always so disappointed in them. If anything can help to raise their standards that will be fine for me.
Re Makeup Purchases: I think that people working in the White House, regardless of which party, can afford to buy their own makeup. After all – we all do. Maybe it’s about giving them tips on how to wear it for photo sessions and briefings.
Re UV device – I think this will prove to be a life saving device because it will show people how much sun exposure they’re experiencing and why they need to use UV protection. Most people would really have no idea (including me and I live in Australia and we’ve been at the UV protection awareness campaigns for decades as Melbourne is/was above the hole in the ozone layer that made us far more vunerable to skin cancers).
When I see people sun bathing at the beach I think that they don’t realise how much they are harming their skin. This device will be invaluable.

  • Robin

    Love this new feature!!

Mario’s Anastasia ‘s palette looked really nice, but like a few others, I can’t get past the Kardashian’s association to purchase his new one.

I wonder how much it costs for Conway and Sanders’ makeup? I remember when John Edwards was runnning for Pres or VP. His haircuts were $700!! I’ve never had a haircut that expensive and I have more hair than he does! Lol

  • bella

Thanks for the beauty news update and I didn’t think anything about the political info. It’s your blog–write it however you want!! Happy New Year!

    • Isabella Muse

I wasn’t either at the time but it turned into that sadly eep! Hopefully everyone is cool and not insulted by any of what I wrote. happy New year bella!

  • Tammy

The ladies in the White House can deal with their makeup on their own. Watch some You Tube videos on it, I don’t care. I just don’t want to be the one paying for it. I don’t mind putting some money toward programs for our veterans or helping homeless shelters, however.
