MAC Viva Glam Sia is the Red Lipstick You Need in Your Life

MAC Viva Glam Sia launched today and suddenly I feel like I need another red lipstick in my life. It wasn’t always that way you know. I avoided red lipstick like the plague for many, many years because I always felt like I looked like a clown in it. Somewhere along the way I developed a certain confidence to wear red and about a hundred odd tubes later the rest is history.

I’m always searching for the perfectly formulated concealer. I’ve come across a few I love but I’m always hunting. Red lipstick is a lot like concealer in some aspects. You have to find that perfect formula and that perfect undertone and suddenly your life is changed. Finding your perfect red lipstick can definitely makeup life altering. If you haven’t found yours or you shy away from the shade I’d recommend not giving up the fight. Keep looking! Don’t give up! There’s a red lipstick out there for everyone.

Maybe Viva Glam Sia is yours!

I am beyond happy about this one because it is a warm based red and I look pretty fly in warm reds. Or at least in my own head I do. Everyone else probably thinks I look like a clown. I has such a sad though because it is matte in finish. I wish it was at the very least satin. But hey, I can always add gloss on top right?

MAC describes it as a vivid warm red. Sounds perfect, just perfect. It needs to be added to my stash of red lipstick ASAP.

MAC Viva Glam Sia is $17.50 and available for a limited time at maccosmetics.com and nordstrom.com.
Best part? Every cent of the selling price of Viva Glam is donated to the MAC AIDS Fund. Cool red lipstick and cool cause what more could a girl or guy want?

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. Muse I’m sure you look fantastic in it.
Please add a picture of you in it so we can see. I have zero confidence to wear reds. Good for you!
I have every shade and every undertone of nude there is lol

awwww thanks Stella!!!!!!!!!!!! I have to go and purchase it and swatch/review so will def add a photo into that post! DO IT! don’t be scared! I was like that 🙂 It’s just about finding the right red just like nudes ;-D You can do it! I believe in you 😀

I just started having the courage to wear red, but I only wear it as a sheer wash of colour. I’ll apply the colour onto the center of my lips and spread it out with my finger so that it looks kind of like a stain. I don’t think I’ll ever be confident enough to wear red full-on; it draws too much attention to my mouth. Haha!

GIRL! do it! I used to do that btw! I would apply and sheer it out and apply gloss on top. I only started feeling a LITTLE more comfortable with it a few short years ago ;-D

Hah! I should wear it at home first to get used to seeing myself with such strong lips. I think it’s because my skin is so pale and my hair is so dark that i get really nervous wearing red lipstick. It should be a winning combination, I know, but I’m just too chicken. I know I look better with the cool-toned reds, though, so I figure I’ll start out with a berry red and work my way towards a more true red. Haha!

When I was younger & could get away with wearing mattes, I loved the original Viva Glam. At one time, they had a gloss but I guess that was limited edition. Anyway, I share your coloring and I wore all manner of red shades when I was young like you. ; ) It’s definitely a brunette look! I just got back into wearing red recently & my holy grail is Dior 999.

I feel sad that red scared me for so long. I could have been wearing it for years but I felt uncomfortable and horrible in it. I only got on the red lipstick train a few short years ago. Mattes have always been a formula I’ve avoided though as I feel like they are too drying on me but a little gloss helps ;-D Dior 999? I have to look into that one 😀

Supposedly it’s the one remaining shade from Mr. Dior’s original line in the 40s. It’s said yo have undertones blended so perfectly that it really is a universal red.

Muse, I love you more than my luggage (you might be too young for the movie reference)! But….I have to very respectfully disagree. Some of us just can’t wear red lipstick. I’m one. I’ve tried about 20 different shades and nope. I looked like everything from a clown to just ridiculous. Not only did I think so but each and every one of my girlfriends had the same response.

    Take it off.

LOL Steel Magnolias moment 😀 Deb, no! I disagree 🙂 There’s a red out there for you! I know it because I’ve always felt like there wasn’t one out there for me but I promise it is out there ;-D Keep looking! Don’t give up! 😀

I used to think this. It’s all down to your complexion, and whether to go for blue reds, cherry reds etc. Lisa Eldridge, a UK Makeup Artist has an account on YouTube and explained how to pick your perfect red lipstick. Go check her out, she’s fantastic!

I only wear red lipstick so I will be snapping this up immediately my other 1000000 tubes of red lipstick need a friend!

  • Sheree

I never wore red lipstick until I got The Red from Sephora’s Rouge Cream lipstick in my Sephora PLAY Box. I thought what the heck, I’ll give it a try. I love it, and am getting ready to purchase a full size!

Muse. I never tried Mac lipstick. Is the Mac matte lipstick drying? Thanks.

    This shade looks pretty.

I am a huge Sia fan. I usually don’t buy Mac, but I went out today and bought it just because of the cause and Sia. The only reds I don’t look good is in orange reds, which this is not. I really dig the tube.

Let’s see I am yellow with peachy undertones according to my Nars foundation (Punjab) and I have full lips. I would like to wear red but I hate the way my lips look bigger, same thing happens with some nude if those don’t give me zombie lips. I wear red sheer-ish gloss with no problem. Any color suggestions?
