Bare Minerals Desert Nudes 8.0 Eyeshadow Palette arrives just in time for the Spring 2018 season and brings together gorgeous hues inspired by the desert. I know many of you were excited about to new Bare Minerals Pressed Blush Collection but also had hopes there would be a new eyeshadow palette for Spring. I know I was one of those people that really wanted a nude palette for Spring because I’m an utter Ready Eyeshadow junkie.

My prayers have been answered as Bare Minerals has not only launched a 8.0 Ready Eyeshadow Palette but also a nude lip set as well as a highlighter palette (although, I could do without that one). I haven’t gone through the shades yet in this new palette but hopefully they aren’t dupes of what I already own in another palette as Bare Minerals is legendary for re-releasing shades over and over again in the Ready Collection!

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. I’m pretty sure I have those shades in other shadow palettes I own. Actually this whole collection is a pass for me I look dead in nude lip color and I just don’t do highlighter anymore I think I’m just to the point where I really really have more than enough makeup. I’m planning on buying a new car in a couple years and I want to have a really nice down payment so I’m pretty much turning into a Scrooge and saving all my pennies. I even just last night threw out a bunch of lipsticks that were either colors I just don’t like anymore or they had turned bad on me

Hi Muse. I know you are a concealer junkie. Have you tried the new Bareminerals Gen Nude stick concealer? I didn’t think I would like it because it’s a stick, but it’s the BEST concealer I have ever used. It’s basically Tarte Shape Tape in a stick form, but creamier and waterproof. Unbelievable coverage. Try it.

    • Isabella Muse

omg that good? I haven’t tried it yet! Was going to order it online but decided to wait to swatch! thanks for the heads up def going to try!

    • Susan

Boy, I saw this in Ulta. Picked it up. Put it back. Repeated. Ended up not getting it because I have so many concealers already, but I’d love to read a review of it, Muse!

Dare I say it? Dare I think it? I normally do not hesitate to purchase BareMinerals eye shadow palettes but I’m just not feeling this one. I had only recently been going through the multitude of BM palettes I have, and there is so much repetition that I’m willing to bet these shadows appear elsewhere, albeit under different names. Besides, these look very washed out and blah (although I realize it could be the promo image).

Plus, there are so many excellent — and pricey! — releases this week that I will be hauling (Viseart, Pat McGrath, Natasha Denona), this BM one will probably be a skip for me.

    • Isabella Muse

I’m sort of meh on it as well! I’m waffling at the moment. One side of me says that the promo image isn’t doing it justice and the other side of me is saying what if these are as pale as they look! For something that is desert inspired, it sure is pale looking! But knowing me, I’ll still haul!

  • Christina D.

This reminds me of the Nature of Nudes palette which was very washed out and indeed, Tranquil and Truffle are in that palette.

    • Isabella Muse

sad sigh! Can I hope that maybe it is just the promo image?!

  • Christina D.

Opulence is also in Nature of Nudes. I did a search of the colors I like and they all appear elsewhere. Easy pass for me but if you do purchase and take one for the team, I understand.

    • Isabella Muse

I think it is also in another palette I have. Kind of their go to for brow highlighting! I prob will but I have HOPES that this is way better than the promo image 😀

  • Agona

Ah, there it is. BM generally releases a small palette for the Spring that usually isn’t marketed/hyped much. I feel like it’s their way of giving you an appetizer before the Fall collection and the Holiday releases.

That being said, what happened to the original 8.0 plastic compacts? Boo! LOL …this aesthetic kind of jives with what everyone else to seems to be releasing this Spring (if they’re not doing glitter, that is); soft romantic but without the overwhelming pink tones.

I feel like the focus of this collection is promoting their new non-matte liquid lipstick. The highlighter/blush trio and eye palette seem like an afterthought. I’ll still buy though (the cheek trio actually seems more tempting now), because I collect BE’s eye palettes. 🙂 Hard pass on liquid lipsticks though–I still can’t get over the nightmare that was the 90s, even thought I know the formulas of nowadays liquid lipsticks are way better.

    • Isabella Muse

ITA about the compacts! I can def do without the cardboard! Also, it just goes with the rest of my collection.

  • Susan

The palette reminds me of another Bare Minerals one I got a couple of years ago, called Color Compatibles. Six eyeshadows, a blush, a highlighter, and a contour/bronzer shade. I almost never use it and don’t know why. I should break it out for spring.

  • Lauren Gallo

I think for me the market has well hit critical mass on nude palettes. >.>
Mind you, I AM pumped for UD Backtalk but it’s mauves and not really nudes.

I’d just love to see more variety. It’s funny because I feel like the Violet Voss Like a Boss palette manages to cater to warm nude/neutral lovers while adding some good pops of colors like old school UD palettes.

Mind you, I say this as someone with a hideous amount of neutral shadows. ^^

    • Isabella Muse

I’m actually in the minority because I still get excited when a new nude palette launches but you’re right, the market is quite saturated with too many nude palettes ;-D I think Summer we might just see a turn around on that!

    • Agona

I’m happy for the metallics and glitters. Even if it’s not a color palette difference, at least it’s a texture/finish difference.

  • Lauren

I think I’m in the minority here, but I might actually check the eye palette out. For anyone with medium or darker skin tones, I think the shades might be ones that would wash them out. But for fair skin tones, these might be good for neutral, soft looks. I’m pretty darn fair, and a lot of eye palettes tend to be dominated by shades that I think look harsh on me.

    • Agona

I plan on getting the eye palette. Their shades in the last few palettes tend to look lighter in the pan than applied; not sure why.

  • Penny

Hmmm…The colors do look nice, but don’t know if I will pull the trigger on this one. On another note, I give a hard pass to the lip gloss…that formula is toooo sticky and tacky for me. That’s a bummer because I love lip gloss!

  • genevieve

I love bareMinerals Ready eyeshadows and have quite a little collection of them. Speakerbox is an olive shade and it previously lived in the Playlist palette, which I own. I also think this collection needs a darker shade for contrast too. I am very meh about this one.
I just wish they brought out something more original.

  • Agona

I finally got around to playing with Desert Nudes today. I think I’m only going to get 2 looks out of this palette (I prefer 2-3 from an 8-pan). Speaker-box is the only really dark-toned eye shadow, and I use dark-toned shadows as in my crease. Truffle, which is medium-dark, is a doable crease color for me too but only if I am going for a day look. For me, there are 2 transition shades (Peace and Tranquil), 2 lid shades (Imagine and Magnetism), and 2 brow bone/blending shades (Daydream and Opulence). I tried Opulence as an inner corner highlight but it wasn’t bright enough. No issues with the formula, as always, but most definitely a “nude” palette. …I’m kind over nudes though! I’ve been in a glitter/metallic mode as of late. 🙂

    • Agona

Oh, I forgot to add that at least there’s two types of nudes you can pull out of this palette, one warmer brassier look and a cooler taupe-r look. So that’s nifty, at least.

    • Isabella Muse

It sounds like it worked out ok for you! I haven’t cracked mine open yet! I’m still on my matte/soft subtle look so this should be good for me ;-D

      • Agona

Yeah, bwahaha, I do have to say, a straight glitter/metallic bling eye looks a little off when I’m hitting groceries or the vet at 9am on the weekend. 🙂 …so it’s good to start with nudes and add bling after. Maybe noon to go with my noon wine?? LOL LOL
