By Rosie Jane Tilly launched at Sephora recently along with all the By Rosie Jane fragrances much to my delight. By Rosie Jane is a small niche brand that’s made it’s home at stores like Anthropologie in the past but I’m terribly happy to see it at Sephora as it opens the brand up to a much wider audience.

I thought I’d review a few of the By Rosie Jane Perfumes I own to give you a little idea of what they smell like should you wish to indulge at Sephora. So far, these are a blind buy for many since I don’t think Sephora will carry them in store. So you might find a review helpful in deciding if you should or shouldn’t indulge.

Interestingly enough the bottle of Tilly is sold out already at Sephora but the $20 travel spray is still readily available. That’s a good thing as far as I’m concerned as no one wants to dish out $50 on a scent they might not like. The $20 travel spray is much more affordable and allows you to try before you commit to a full-size.

Summer is well on the way and Tilly is ideal for the warmer days ahead as it is pretty much a perfect beach scent. It’s a warm scent with fruity notes of coconut and grapefruit and a lingering gardenia note that dominates the blend. The lovely thing about By Rosie Jane fragrances is the simplicity of the notes but the complexity of the blend.

Tilly starts out fresh with a burst of green notes. To me at first sniff it smells like beach grass swaying along the dunes on a humid morning. As it develops and the sent settles and dries down gardenia comes out full force. It smells like Hawaii at this point! The lei around your neck, the scent of tanning oil in the air, the waves hitting the sand in the distance.

It smells like a expensive tanning oil as it settles. I can’t say coconut is very prominent here though so it isn’t that type of tanning oil nor is grapefruit for that matter but gardenia as I said is very, very aggressive but warming and delicate too.

It’s formulated quite well as the scent does linger with excellent strong.

If you’re looking for that perfect beach day scent or you want to smell like the beach you’re sure to love By Rosie Jane Tilly.

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. Ooh! Flashback to dancing school, pre jfk assassination, where the overpowering gardenia scent made at least 10 girls faint. It still makes me feel slightly uneasy. (I think they were trying to teach us how to pin on a corsage. What a useful skill for a 70 y.o. working stiff.) Grand that big S has Rosie Jane, though.
