5 stars out of 5

Don’t Flutter Yourself, Dare to Soar, and Hummingbird Hype are three limited edition Wet n Wild Flights of Fancy Color Icon Baked Blush shades that launched with the Wet n Wild Summer 2018 Collection recently online and at drugstores.

These are probably one of my favorite pieces of makeup at the moment and I’m so looking forward to the warm days of Summer ahead when these will look especially delicious.

Wet n Wild Flights of Fancy Coloricon Baked Blush arrives in a simple square plastic palette with a clear lid that holds none of the decorative tropical designs that the Coloricon Lipgloss and Perfect Pout Lip Scrub have which also launched with this collection. I actually have no idea the size of these blushes as it doesn’t say on the back however, they do seem generously sized and will set you back $4.99 each and they are made in China. Each blush has an adorable hummingbird embossment on the powder which didn’t disappear or fade with the four or five times I’ve used these since purchase.

I simply can’t rave these enough and that’s saying something because they do have a highly metallic glow-y finish. In all honesty, I’d say the two lighter shades wear best for me over my blush to add a gorgeous pop of metallic sheen and glow plus they intensify my blush color. I couldn’t quite get Hummingbird Hype or Don’t Flutter Yourself to work as a blush as you do have to pile them on the best intensity and since they have such a high shine metallic finish you could be dangerously overdoing your blush. I find it best to wear a light shade of blush under them and that way you’d get color from the blush and a gorgeous glow from the Color Icon Baked Blush. I will say Dare to Soar is the exception to the rule as this is the most pigmented of the three and it can easily be worn as a blush since a little goes a long way to add color and a gorgeous glow to your skin. I’d go so far as to call them a blush and highlighter hybrid.

Below I used Don’t Flutter Yourself and Hummingbird Hype over a sheer light blush and wore Dare to Soar on its own as a blush and highlighter.

All three shades are truly unique colors and aren’t like anything I own in my collection. Don’t Flutter Yourself is this delightful apricot pink, Hummingbird Hype is a gorgeous light golden peach, and Dare to Soar is a stunning cranberry. All three have a strong metallic finish but they contain absolutely no chunky shimmer or glitter. The texture is a little firm but color was very easy to pick up without being powdery or chalky. The color applies very easily and didn’t adhere to drier areas on my cheeks but considering how intense the glow it may accentuate pores. I don’t have visible pores on my face so I’m just guessing this might happen, I don’t know it for a fact. I had no issues during the blending process however, using a lighter hand is highly recommended and using a fiber brush with lighter less dense bristles will help you to get a pretty luminous glow without overdoing things.

All in all, I am very, very pleased with the Wet n Wild Flights of Fancy Color Icon Baked Blush Collection. I hope they do more of these in the future because I think the colors, formula, and finish of these is delightful.

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. ohhh I have been wanting the light pink and peach, but was on the fence about the darker pink. Now I know I need to have all 3. I was a little concerned that they’d be super similar to my Becca Luminous Flush blushes. Hummingbird Hype looks gorgeous on you. Giving me some Orgasm vibes (that’s what she said!) and I could totally see this being an everyday blush for me this spring/summer (San Jose CA can’t quite figure out if we’re heading into summer yet or not LOL).

oh please do buy them all! You won’t regret it. I SOOOOO want back ups! Hummingbird Hype and Dont’ Flutter Yourself are prob my fav of the two ;-D Not quite orgasm because it leans towards more golden orange vs golden pink but still lovely ;-D ha welcome to New York! We don’t know if this is Spring, Summer, or maybe Winter. Everyday is a new weather adventure! yesterday I had the AC on in my office and came home to put on the heat because I was cold!

I finally found this display at a good Walgreens in my area. I got 2 of the 3 blushes. I still need Don’t Flutter Yourself, but the other two are indeed gorgeous and thought the exact same thing you did about these babies being so pretty for summer. I am officially on the hunt for the third one that I need. I have hope though, as I had gone to about 5 Walgreens and not one of them had this collection except for the last one I went to, so I think the displays are trickling in at this point. (Side note: I even thought these would be pretty as eye shadows, especially Dare to Soar).

Great idea on the Dare to Soar as an eyeshadow! Gonna try that! I’m glad you at least found 2 of the 3! I noticed they are disappearing fast from the shelves here!

I want all three of these they are lovely! I do have to say i thought orgasm as well but not quite… also the dare to soar is definitely reminding me of the new nars loves me blush… any chance you could do a side by side. I already have the nars blush but jsut for fun to see if it could be a possible dupe….

I received my order yesterday and so far have only tried the darkest blush color it is gorgeous! I applied with the WetnWild smaller slanted brush and I love it! Trying it first cause I feared it would be too dark and I’m pale. It’ll be nice to top in Summer over a bronzer it would go gorgeous! This set was so pretty and me loving colors and gardening and adoring hummbirds couldn’t help it and I’m supposed to be on a makeup diet! Lol! But is so pretty! Glad I purchased and love the pin! Will be wearing it when hubby and I go to Hungtintons Gardens we became members and renewed it again.
The peachy color will turn out awesome too and pink!
So excited today i had to write this side note, tonight out of all days when it never rarely rains in S. California is my son’s graduation from Calarts and woke up cloudy with 10% chance of rain! Lol! And it is held outdoors! I better wear all waterproof makeup but except mascara I don’t have anything else waterproof. I think I’ll be passing out those ponchos we get at Roadrunners before a race in case it pours?! Arghhh! ☔️ Crazy weather everyday is something different and allergies a plus but beautiful on the cool side. I don’t like Summer much unless in a nice spa resort spot somewhere in Florida. Lol! Not going to happen we will helping pay our kids their university loans one is al ost done my daughter who graduated first. But so worth it!

I really don’t need to buy any of these, as I just bought new MAC and Chanel blushes during the Macy’s Friends & Family sale last month, but they are so inexpensive and I don’t have anything quite like Hummingbird Hype, so why not?

One quick question: I have combination skin, but I would be putting the blush on top of Estee Lauder Double Wear Makeup, so that should help it adhere, right?

    • Isabella Muse

It should wear fine over foundation. I wore it over a few different foundations/bb creams and I had no problems with the formula adhering to my skin!

  • Rachel Runyan

I just ordered these earlier today. I think the colors are lovely, and I like the hummingbird design.
