Gosh I imagine some of you are preparing to head back to school soon or will be shortly! Lucky you. I remember my days at school quite fondly, fun, fun. As you begin preparations to pack up for college you’ll notice plenty of cosmetics, hair and skin care goodies launching new lines to tempt and tease you at check out. You obviously need to wash your hair while away at school…ok, I’ll be fair…some of us don’t bother washing while we’re at school especially laundry nor do we sleep or eat anything that doesn’t come from a vending machine, it’s cool, we’ve all been there. However, budget friendly options are available so at the very least let’s try to keep our hair squeaky clean.
Herbal Essences Tousle Me Softly Collection is a new line of products designed to work together to achieve a touchable tousled look. Believe me I TRY so hard to gain this look it’s not even funny. Stiff, crunchy hair is OUT, soft, tousled locks are so IN.
Check out the brand new Herbal Essences Tousle Me Softly Collect below (it’s budget friendly too).
If you’re a fan of Herbal Essences you’ll be happy to know the entire line is quite budget friendly with a $2.99 price tag (aside from the finishing cream marked at a reasonable $5.49 for a large jar). So if you’re looking to snag some hair care to tote away with you to school or you’re in need of soft, tousled curls that aren’t going to cost you a ton of cash check out some of these options!
Herbal Essences Tousle Me Softly Shampoo and Conditioner $2.99
Cleanses hair without stripping and smells super fresh and pretty too!
Herbal Essences Tousle Me Softly Mousse $2.99
A lightweight mousse to hold curls without that icky stuff, crunchy feel!
Herbal Essences Tousle Me Softly Hair Spray $2.99
Keeps hair in place minus stickiness!
Herbal Essences Tousle Me Softly Spray Gel $2.99
Perfect for styling damp hair to set a style in a snap.
Herbal Essences Tousle Me Softly Finishing Cream $5.49
My favorite of the products. This is a soft conditioning cream for wet hair that makes your tresses oh so soft and scented pretty.
You know the Muse, she’s normally a Lush fan for life but I can be occasionally tempted to the dark side to indulge in cheap drugstore hair care goodies. Herbal Essences Tousle Me Softly Collection is particularly good for someone like me who avoids hair dryers like the plague. The products can all be used on my wet hair to create soft, frizz-free curls that are gently tousled and pretty. For $2.99 it’s not going to change your hair’s life but it sure will attempt to!
Herbal Essences Tousle Me Softly Collection is available now at your local drugstore.
Stay tuned for more back to school beauty buys in upcoming posts.

I seen this randomly when looking at the Sephora V.I.B. page.
Kat Von D will introduce two new scents in August! w00t! Very exciting. I’m a big fan of the Kat Von D Collection and adding scents to the collection will be incredible. Kat Von D Saint and Kat Von D Sinner are the names of the fragrances they are planning. If I hear further word about these I’ll let you know.

Long ago I introduced you to
Black Phoenix Alchemist Lab and my slight obsession with the brand. I’m still quite in love with BPAL but I discovered Arcana a few years ago and it’s since been as desirable as BPAL.
If you love perfume oils, Arcana will be a fab beauty discovery for you. Jump ahead to learn more.
Why perfume oil?
Perfume Oils are enriched with a heavy dose of fragrant oil making them stronger and long wearing. When blended correctly they allow for a greater throw and linger than regular perfume or toilettes. Oils are normally sold in 5-10ML bottles due to the nature of the product and expense. A little goes a long well so a smaller size will last you a very long time.
If you like a little bit of a Gothic romantic Victorian packaging Arcana perfume oils are sure to please. Housed in a small 5ml alchemist bottle with aged yellowing labels they look quite old worldly. Available in a variety of scents that are rotated constantly with limited edition scents these are truly little treasures that are easy to become addicted to.
I decided to do a Beauty Discovery on Arcana as I recently ordered a few new blends for my collection and also felt that so many people are probably missing out on the joys of perfume oil especially such unique blends as the ones Arcana creates.
Two delightful scents I hauled recently are Arcana Poison Candy Perfume and Underpinnings. At $14.95 per a 5ml bottle these are a tad more costly than the normal bottles which are $7.95. The uniquely high ingredient costs push the price a little higher but truly it’s well worth it as the throw and linger on each is incredible.
Poison Candy comes housed in green alchemist bottle much like what…well…what poison might come in. With a aged yellow tag embellished with a creepy little coffin indeed ones does worry how poisonous this candy could be! But one sniff and you’ll realize that poison never smelled so good. Ripe strawberries, rich cream, cinnamon, sugar, and honey make up a unique foody scent that smells quite like some sort of rich, decadent cake. Wonderful!
Velvet Underpinnings also priced high at $11.95 contains ingredients that are unique and high in cost but again well worthy of the extra few dollars as the scent lingers long and has great throw. Made up of chocolate, sweet cream, vanilla, sugars, spice, and everything nice, these Underpinnings are good enough to flaunt.
With a wide variety of fragrances available and an ever evolving catalog of limited edition fragrances, Arcana has my vote for a great way to indulge in small amounts of unique and interesting blends of fragrance.

I hate the beach. Sorry. Since I hate the beach it’s impossible to get beach hair. Beach hair seems absolutely essential to Summer and if I don’t have beach hair I might not be “in”….I must have beach hair at any cost!
Ok..dramatic I know but seriously. I don’t do beaches…sand, sea weed, etc…if God had meant for us to thread around on hot sand, wade in salt water, and have the sun beating on our heads, he’d have given us fins at the very least dontcha think?
Beach hair seems to be the in thing during the Summer months. That slightly damp, mussed up look a la the Little Mermaid. You know hawt tresses that look like you dived into the ocean, spread out on a beach towel, and let the wind dry out your salt laden hair to perfection. Who knew that the beach could do good things for your hair right?
If you aren’t a lover of the beach but still desire the hair that goes along with a trip to the shore peep at my review below!
Philip B Maui Wowie Beach Mist is awesome hair in a bottle sans the beach. A cocktail of sea salt, extracts of algae, orchid, Tahitian gardenia, aloe vera, oils of kukui and coconut and possible a little bit of sand (ok I made the sand part up) gives tresses texture, body, bounce, volume, and hold for that beach worthy look you’re craving.
God this stuff smells incredible. Can’t we has sniff o’ vision on the Interwebz? I’ll talk to Al Gore and see what we can arrange, the mighty guru of Internet creation. I wish I can explain the scent to you but it’s a bit complex…think fresh, think slightly floral, think…the beach…Maui with a little wowie thrown in there. Loves it!
So what’s it do?
Take your slightly damp hair (or dry but damp gets the best results in my humble opinion) and mist a bit of Philip B Maui Wowie Beach Mist onto your locks. Don’t comb it through just scrunch it gently if you like or flip it upside down and shake (this works a treat plus you’ll feel like you’re in some shampoo or styling commercial). That’s about it…the results are bouncy, textured locks, with a bit of volume that simply makes you look like you just bounced off the sand.
Beach hair easy and mess free in a bottle plus no sand in unusual places!
Adore this stuff. Muse Approved for Purchase, it’s one of my Summer Makeup Must Haves!
Anyone try?

Can you guess what this is?
Nope, it’s not a sugar cookie actually it’s not a cookie of any kind. Not a Chinese dumpling either. In fact you can’t eat it at all but that doesn’t mean it’s not good for you and your body!
Click ahead to find out what it is!
Those of you who guessed that it’s a Lush Sugar Scrub guessed correctly! Looks kinda edible doesn’t it?
Ok, you need these in your life. You need these if your skin is rough and flaky. You need them if you want a moisturizing exfoliating scrub that’s sooooooo super luxurious. You just need ‘em period.
If you love Buffy you’ll absolutely adore how Lush has taken exfoliation to the next level with their brand new Lush Sugar Scrubs! The scrubs are delicately packed together lumps of joy. I do say delicate since if you handle them incorrectly and with out a little TLC you’ll find yourself with a fist full of sugar, be gentle. Each scrub is packed into a dome, raised cookie shape kinda like a scone! The scrubs are available in two versions for $4.95 each and you can probably get one to two uses if you want to super scrub your rough bits or about four uses if you’re stingy. As for me I’m terribly rough so I use an entire one for my knees and elbows plus Lush does suggest using one per a shower. The basic idea is to break it in two pieces, wet the area you’re working with, wet the scrub in your hand and proceed to rub it anywhere you want smooth, silky skin. The scrub quickly breaks up into grains of sugar and after a little scrubbing they sud up and disappear. They leave behind smooth, silky, moisturized skin. You need to try ‘em yourself as they are truly a little joy in the bath and body world.
The two scrubs available are Sugar Scrub and Sugar Babe. Sugar Scrub is Vegan where as Sugar Babe is not.
Sugar Scrub has a herbal lavender scent and is green in color. Lush says it’s good for scrubbing away dead skin cells, tackling cellulite, and and invigorating sluggish skin.
Sugar Babe is my favorite of the two. At first sniff I didn’t like it as it had a weird sour milk gardenia scent but once it’s wet it smells oddly of Lush Snowcake but with quite a bit more of a floral underlay which is a bit lily-like and a bit of gardenia as well. Lush recommends this for upper arms, thighs, and stomach. It has a center of extra virgin coconut oil which is revealed as you scrub. The actual scent is ylang ylang but for me it smells quite like Snowcake when damp. Loving it!
