Well slap me happy the Boots Original Beauty Formula is at Target! Back to basics is where it’s at with Boots Original Beauty Formula. The Muse heard about Boots Original Beauty Formula about a month ago when she popped across it on the Boots UK site but little did she know she’d find it at her local Target so quickly.
Well, whoa. Awesome Target! Well done.
I honestly didn’t expect to see this arrive at Target so quickly and it was shocking to see the display sitting there all happy like and awaiting me to haul from it. The Muse hearts you Target.
Jump ahead for the raves.
Back to basics is where it’s at with the Boots Original Beauty Formula. Think your grandmother’s skincare regime and you’ll pretty much get the idea. Heavy glass jars, rose scented products, and just a very basic concept. Loves it. The Muse happens to love the C.O. Bigelow Rose line so she of course is totally digging all over everything in the Boots Original Beauty Formula as many of the skincare items are rose scented.
I only indulged in the facial line but there is an entire body line available as well. Sadly, my Target was sold out of alot of the items available but I still managed to haul three prime pieces.
It deserves to be mentioned that these items are no way going to take over my normal skincare regime but regardless they are decently priced and fun for those days I’m just hurrying to do a quick clean up at the end of the night.
I hauled the following items:
Boots Original Beauty Formula Cold Cream ($9.99 USD)
Boots Original Beauty Formula Overnight Skin Cream ($12.99 USD)
Boots Original Beauty Formula Skin Tonic Damask Rose ($9.99 USD)
Before I get into my review I will mention that with the conversion rate as it is right now, the prices of the products are around the same as what you’d get in the UK minus $1-$4 at most. I picture little old English ladies running to their newest Boots to stock up on all these items.
As I mentioned this is very basic skincare, simplicity at it’s best in my humble opinion. The Boots Original Beauty Formula Cold Cream has a light rose scent that’s very pretty but could prove too much for those sensitive to smell. It comes housed in a heavy vintage glass style jar and is an extra thick, cold cream meant for removing makeup. Now it’s not going to get off waterproof mascara but it does a fine job of removing everything else and washing cleanly away while making your face feeling very moist and dewy. To use simply rub onto dry skin and remove with a wet wash cloth, rinse and done, simple!
Boots Original Formula Overnight Skin Cream is a bergamot scented night cream, sigh I sure did wish for rose but that’s ok it smells lovely none the less. It’s quick absorbing and leaves skin feeling very moisturized however it could possibly be a bit too much for oily or even normal skin types. It’s not thick mind you and has a gel-like feel but it’s just a tad heavy. almost but not quite greasy. I find it does an good job as an overnight cream and leaves my dry skin nice and moist but it does make my forehead a tiny shiny. Not bad though and I’m sure I’ll be thankful for it in the Winter. Again, it also comes housed in a heavy vintage style jar. I’m quite partial to the packaging of all of the line as it’s so retro and vanity worthy.
Lastly I hauled the Boots Original Beauty Formula Skin Tonic which is also rose scented. This contains a combination of rose oil and hydrating glycerin. I’m no stranger to these ingredients as I use them quite often in the Winter to get my face prepped and primed for moisturizer! I was in high debate with myself over the price however since it’s a 5oz size for $9.99 and I can get an 8oz of Burts Bees Rosewater & Glycerin Toner for $9-$12. I’ve since forgiven it for the price since it comes in such a cute glass bottle. It feels a tad more moisturizing compared to what I normally use and honestly rose oil and glycerin in any form is a gift from the gods the Muse thinks. It works amazing at removing flaky skin and prepping your skin so whether you try this one or just any glycerin toner, know that your skin will thank you every so kindly for the extra moisture.
I’m unsure whether I deem the items expensive. It seems like very large jars that will last a while so I lean towards saying they are quite nicely priced. I’m quite pleased that Target imported them so quickly as I really thought we’d possibly never see them or it would be months before they reached our shores. If you’re looking for a nice, simple skincare regime I recommend checking these out. I’m quite happy with all three and the entire line seems quite wonderful. Boots never really fails to make me smile. Well done Boots and Target the Muse Approves.
Everyone’s favorite youTuber, Panacea81, has launched her brand new makeup line!
Lauren’s one of those girl’s that you absolutely love because she’s just a down to earth, everyday type of person. I’m quite excited to try out her new makeup line which officially launched today.
Each of her brand new palettes are $32.50 USD each and include three shadows, primer, two lipsticks, one blush, and a liner all stashed away in a super slim, sexy palette with flower motif! Count me curious about these! I just ordered the My Luscious Green palette, believe me it was difficult to decide on just one. I was super tempted to order them all but refrain I did.
As you can see the palettes look quite lovely. I’m very eager to get mine. The total with shipping and tax came to $40 and some change. Not too bad at all! They offer free shipping with two or more palettes, I was tempted to order two.
As I said I’m def looking forward to trying these out! The palettes are limited edition and the site does ship worldwide so I guess you better get on board quick before they sell out.
My inner Brit misses Pout Beauty so very much! Sigh. Especially the Pout Rouge! Those were such a seriously great product!
Why, oh, why did the entire line get flushed? I miss it so!
Available in some great popping shades Pout Beauty Rouge was truly a fab product. Pigmented, silky smooth with a satin finish it gave cheeks a healthy pop of color. It’s one of my favorite blushes and I can’t help but think what a terrible shame it was when Pout went under! The entire line was so fresh and girlish. The rouges came in large compacts with a full mirror and plenty of product for the price.
Le Sigh….Missing you Pout and your brilliant blushes too! I’ll always remember you which is why you deserved your own feature in Beauty Blast from the Past!
Have no fear! Jelly Pong Pong Fairy Lashes is sweet and will grant all your mascara wishes with a sweep of it’s wand! Scary fairies not included thankfully.
If you hated Majorca Majolica Gorgeous Wing as much as the Muse you’ll be thankful for the introduction of the newest mascara from Jelly Pong Pong entitled Fairy Lashes. The promise of light, fluffy lashes that are thicker, fatter, and volumized awaits you without the drama of harsh fibers!
If you have stubbier lashes or smaller lashes this is one you’ll want to try and if you already have full lashes but want extra volume with a light, soft feel Jelly Pong Pong Fairy Lashes is for you.
The formula is an interesting formula that creates nice full lashes with plenty of volume all while keeping things light and soft. Your lashes will feel virtually weightless and soft with this mascara in place. Where as some mascaras give an icky hard feeling to lashes, Fairy Lashes keeps lashes soft and conditioned as if you aren’t even wearing mascara at all! Likey! The applicator is a big chunky brush which captures all your lashes at once so no struggling to try to get inner lashes. One swipe and you’re golden! A few swipes more will get you plenty of volume and curl.
I thought the mascara also managed to keep curl exceptional well which is probably due to it’s very light formula. Asian (or anyone with shorter, stubbier lashes) lashes can definitely benefit from this formula as it’ll keep curl all day plus keep lashes soft which in turn will allow for less breakage.
The formula is formulated with cotton seed extract which is supposedly an active ingredient that contains natural oligosaccharides which restructions eyelashes and renders them flexible and hydrated.
Overall, I absolutely loved this and I wish more mascaras would embrace the interesting “technology” behind it. It keeps my lashes very soft, holds curl all throughout the day, and it’s fairly easy to remove even though the formula is waterproof. It doesn’t smudge, cake, or create raccoon eyes which is always a plus. The formula itself just feels so natural and weightless on my lashes I can’t help but love it.
The mascara comes in a cute blue box with a sweet fluffy feather affair on top. The box splits open to reveal the purple tube of mascara within. Quite a nice presentation packaging wise. I’m always so chuffed proper with Jelly Pong Pong packaging I actually ended up keeping this box and storing the mascara back inside since I loved it so much!
Who might love it?
Anyone who’s been seeking a weightless formula that makes lashes soft while giving good volume to lashes!
Anyone with shorter, stubbier lashes who desires a softer natural look to lashes while not causing breakage!
Someone who’s been seeking a mascara that keeps curl all day with a weightless formula!
The mascara successfully does what it promises which is to create fuller, curlier lashes while keeping them weightless, soft, and natural. Truly a winner in the mascara world! I’m Muse Approving this for purchase as I think it’s truly a great one. I think my Asian girls would particularly love this formula so I do highly recommend checking it for yourself.
Oooooooo come on baby make it hurt so good! Girls with Attitude LipZing has the zest and spice for making it hurt so good? Not sure if it’s good or not or maybe it’s “oh my god take me to the emergency room my lips feel like they are on fyreeeees!”
Girls With Attitude LipZing is an instant Plumping Gloss that’s a mere £5 so the Muse said “hey, something cheaper than Lip Venom! Let’s have a go!”
When I was deciding I’d have a go at LipZing I didn’t realize that the go might be me flying out my bathroom window and burying my lips and face into the nearest pile of cold snow! Ouchie this stuff stings!!
All the promises on the back of the box of achieving that Hollywood glamour lip look def does not make up for the fact that this stuff seriously tingles, stings and creates a rather uncomfortable feeling on my lips plus it’s freaking bitter as all hell if I happen to get a taste of it when licking my lips…well hello it’s on my lips I’m going to taste it sooner or later can’t we at least make it a pleasant experience when I do? K, thanks to the team at Girls with Attitude! And seriously if I’m going to burn my lips off when it’s applied can’t we at least make it a strawberry or watermelon type experience? Maybe the flavor will sooth the fire!
I really adore DuWop Lip Venom and although their are tears of absolute agony whenever my sister uses it I absolutely love it and never experienced the terribly stinging sensation she proclaims on and on about. Until now the only lip plumping gloss I’ve tried that worked is in fact lip venom but lord knows the award should go to LipZing! LipZing definately plumps no question about it! My lips were looking quite Amanda Lepore like…I was channeling my inner tranny girl with this stuff. I’m thinking that I can’t blame the formula so much as the irritation. Those crazy chicks with attitude probably created this so it would actually irritate the lip area and in turn that would cause all the swelling and plumping up! Hello hurtful!
My lower bottom lip was sticking out like it was in a permanent pout and hells knows I was loving the look but honestly the promise of a “gentle pleasant tingling sensation” (or so the box says) is NOT happening. Taking into consideration I’m not in the least sensitive this one is going on my do not buy again list.
If you’re dying to experience the pleasure pain of Girls with Attitude LipZing shop it at Asos. But don’t say I didn’t worn you!
I get a tiny bit excited when Boots releases a limited edition collection. Granted Boots No7 isn’t the best cosmetic brand in the world but I tend to veer towards it when I hear the words “limited” and “edition” in the same sentence. I’ve been collecting Boots No7 LE items for as long as the sky is blue so of course when I noticed they had a new Spring Collection I kinda did my little happy dance!
Yes, Yes you can diss on it all you like but I’m still kinda sorta loving it!
Remember kids it’s the little things that makes the Muse happy!
The collection consists of the Boots No7 Petal Lip Tint, Boots No7 Eye Palette, and Boots No7 Petal Blusher. All of the palettes are available in two shade selections aside from the eye palette. The collection allows for a warm or cool look if you so please. I’m quite smitten with the No7 Petal Blusher although I’m not feeling the price range on most of the line which is topping in at £8 to nearly £11 hmmmm….can it be cheaper now please?
Aside from the price the line up is quite nice and keeping with the Spring theme of things. I’m considering picking it up just because I like collecting these particular palettes but we shall see as I’ve already used up a majority of my Spring Collection budget.
It’s ok, I give you leave to rant over the shat quality of Boots No7 now.
