Much to the Muse’s delight USD is holding it’s own against Yen for two whole weeks now. I’ve been following it closely and it’s been converting almost even for the past two weeks. I’m hopeful it’ll keep through the Summer so we can take advantage with not only Summer Collections but most important Fall Collections.
At the moment the conversation is equal to USD which isn’t particularly a great sign for the economy but is a nice relief from past conversions. I’ve been holding out on my Japanese Spring haul due to crummy conversion but now I can indulge!
The moral of the story is if you haven’t hauled Spring yet you may want to now with the conversion rate going as it is. It’s really anyone’s guess how long this will last so take advantage while you can.
Off the topic of Yen, Won is still converting wonderfully well too so if you’re wanting to haul from Korea now is a good time.
Friendly note from your resident currency converter and makeup junkie hehe!
KATE is one of Kanebo’s many sub-branch cosmetic lines available within Japanese drugstores in Japan and if you’re lucky in various parts of Asia. Many of you already know most of this already but for those new to Asian brands a few quick facts about KATE lay ahead.
KATE is a rather inexpensive, mid-range priced cosmetic line that sports a variety of edgy compacts and cosmetics with fantastic color payoff and quality. The line is darker and has a certain flair that many Japanese cosmetics don’t sport. Where as many of these brands sport kawaii, girlish, or very feminine packaging, KATE brings the edge to it’s brand.
One of my very favorite items from the line are the KATE Dual Carat Eye Shadow palettes!
Jump ahead for my stash!
KATE Dual Carat Eye Shadow Palettes contain two contrasting shades of shimmering, pigmented shadow in a small slim line case. The shadows are silky smooth with fantastic color payoff and most important pack a nice shimmery finish that the Muse favors!
I’m a big lover of these little guys and I believe I’ve collected all the shades that KATE has released so far. I’m ever hopeful when a new collection pops up that they’ll either add to the current catalog of Dual Carat compacts or introduce a similar line up as KATE is known for revamping there palettes while keeping certain aspects of the old.
They are a true favorite with this Muse as you can see from my vast collection!
Have no fear! Jelly Pong Pong Fairy Lashes is sweet and will grant all your mascara wishes with a sweep of it’s wand! Scary fairies not included thankfully.
If you hated Majorca Majolica Gorgeous Wing as much as the Muse you’ll be thankful for the introduction of the newest mascara from Jelly Pong Pong entitled Fairy Lashes. The promise of light, fluffy lashes that are thicker, fatter, and volumized awaits you without the drama of harsh fibers!
If you have stubbier lashes or smaller lashes this is one you’ll want to try and if you already have full lashes but want extra volume with a light, soft feel Jelly Pong Pong Fairy Lashes is for you.
The formula is an interesting formula that creates nice full lashes with plenty of volume all while keeping things light and soft. Your lashes will feel virtually weightless and soft with this mascara in place. Where as some mascaras give an icky hard feeling to lashes, Fairy Lashes keeps lashes soft and conditioned as if you aren’t even wearing mascara at all! Likey! The applicator is a big chunky brush which captures all your lashes at once so no struggling to try to get inner lashes. One swipe and you’re golden! A few swipes more will get you plenty of volume and curl.
I thought the mascara also managed to keep curl exceptional well which is probably due to it’s very light formula. Asian (or anyone with shorter, stubbier lashes) lashes can definitely benefit from this formula as it’ll keep curl all day plus keep lashes soft which in turn will allow for less breakage.
The formula is formulated with cotton seed extract which is supposedly an active ingredient that contains natural oligosaccharides which restructions eyelashes and renders them flexible and hydrated.
Overall, I absolutely loved this and I wish more mascaras would embrace the interesting “technology” behind it. It keeps my lashes very soft, holds curl all throughout the day, and it’s fairly easy to remove even though the formula is waterproof. It doesn’t smudge, cake, or create raccoon eyes which is always a plus. The formula itself just feels so natural and weightless on my lashes I can’t help but love it.
The mascara comes in a cute blue box with a sweet fluffy feather affair on top. The box splits open to reveal the purple tube of mascara within. Quite a nice presentation packaging wise. I’m always so chuffed proper with Jelly Pong Pong packaging I actually ended up keeping this box and storing the mascara back inside since I loved it so much!
Who might love it?
Anyone who’s been seeking a weightless formula that makes lashes soft while giving good volume to lashes!
Anyone with shorter, stubbier lashes who desires a softer natural look to lashes while not causing breakage!
Someone who’s been seeking a mascara that keeps curl all day with a weightless formula!
The mascara successfully does what it promises which is to create fuller, curlier lashes while keeping them weightless, soft, and natural. Truly a winner in the mascara world! I’m Muse Approving this for purchase as I think it’s truly a great one. I think my Asian girls would particularly love this formula so I do highly recommend checking it for yourself.
Is it a BB Cream? Is it a primer? One can’t be sure when it comes to Shills Diamond Girl BB Silkily Foundation. Ahh there in lays a clue…”silkily foundation” so that must mean it’s a foundation right?
Let’s find out!
Jump ahead for the deets!
If I’m honest with myself I’ll admit that Shills Diamond Girl BB Silkily Foundation is not a BB Cream, nor is it a foundation but it does happen to fall into the glorified primer category quite nicely.
What is it?
A refreshing and moisturizing tonic which regulates the skin’s PH and restores it’s uniform color.
I dunno that’s what the box says but don’t take my word for it take a look for yourself:
What is it really?
It’s a thick creamy white moisturizer with flecks of pearl that preps skin prior to foundation use. It’s extra thick which makes it a pain for blending in and absorbing easy but it sure will do the trick of filling pores if you’re looking for a good treatment to do so. The thick consistency should fill lines, pores, and other skin woes you’re sporting at the moment. It’s not greasy in the least and feels quite nice on the skin once it’s fully absorbed.
The product promises to whiten skin which it does successfully. It removes dull spots and creates a nice white finish to skin which allows your foundation to go on smoother and look more natural. The shade is a tad ghastly at first but after foundation is in place it’s perfect. This also claims to have anti-aging and anti-acne fighting ingredients but I can’t speak for either as I am not having any probs with acne at the moment and anti-aging is really a hard call as you’d have to use the product years to see any real results.
As a primer it’s super as it does allow foundation to apply easier and last a tad bit longer than usual. It smells like a fresh floral almost rose scented. The product in general does much of what it promises and I’m particularly thrilled with how well it works at bringing my skin down a shade slightly, nothing dramatic just a tad bit of whitening. The Muse is all about anything that whitens her skin so this falls into the awesome category. Generally speaking the product is used to create radiant to skin where it happens to be dull or lackluster so don’t be fooled by it’s name “BB Silkily Foundation”, it is by all means a primer with whitening benefits at best. Shills Diamond Girl BB Silkily Foundation also comes in a lilac shade which can be used for lightening skin tone as well but I felt like the white did a fine job of this already.
Overall, I really liked the product and would purchase again should I run out. I paid retail which was $239TWD I believe which isn’t a bad deal. I’ve seen it on E-bay ranging for $15.99-$17.99 USD which isn’t exactly a fair price but not too bad as I think it’s worth trying out.
You’ll like this if:
You want something to fill up pores, fine lines, etc…
You want to brighten, whiten, and add radiance to skin
You want a nice thick primer to aid foundation wear and tear
