Did you hear Hello Cotton is closing up shop? Crazy! Google Reader is disappearing as of July as you already know…I looked outside and there definitely isn’t visible signs of the zombie plague as of yet but who knows, anything can happen at this point that’s why it’s important you know where you can follow me when these great services disappear. And not only to get your beauty fix but also to get the 4 1 1 on where we can meet up should the zombie plague hit!
I fan girl out on Reddit as well under my other alias but I recently opened up an account for MusingsofaMuse. I’m a little inactive using it but hope to start posting more under that account verses my personal account.
And hey it’s the weekend btw….!
I hope you have some pleasant plans for the weekend! I’m not really sure what I’m doing yet. It’s a cold, rainy day in Gotham so might call a few friends and have a movie night. I just realized after driving myself mad trying to locate a theater playing Room 237 that it’s available on AppleTV! Jeez all that work and I could have sat on my couch and watched it.
Whatever you do I hope you have fun!
There’s been a few technical hiccups around here lately which I hope you haven’t noticed but please if you are experiencing any problems with the site…slow loading issues, comments, etc….feel free to use the contact form to tell me or comment here or across any social media outlets. I view the site in a completely different environment than you do so sometimes if there is a problem I am unaware of it unless someone tells me. So if you have ANY issues at all I’d be grateful you alerted me.
Thanks for always making my week fly by with your daily blather! I enjoy your company so very much!
Finally Google Nose is launching! I’ve always wanted a program like Google Nose for Musings of a Muse as when I review fragrance or a certain product that smells delicious or even candles I wanted to share that scent with you but up until now it’s been impossible to translate fragrance to you outside of the written word!
Google Nose is in beta for search but it actually allows you to search products and offer the option of smelling them right from your computer!
An Android Ambient Odor Detection collects smells via the world’s most sensible mobile operating system and brings them to YOU!
How awesome would it be to visit Musings of a Muse and see me describing a scent but not only would you read my experience with it but smell it for yourself?

It’s a great way to keep up to date on what’s new around here!
It really shouldn’t be any surprised that Google axed Google Reader yesterday. Granted you’ll have use of it up until July but after that you can wave good-bye to a very old and dear friend.
It’s VERY unfortunate they choose to do this and it really shouldn’t come as any surprise considering the Feedburner fiasco a few short months ago (I won’t get into the possibility of Feedburner disappearing at some point from the US as this is a post about Google Reader).
Google has become more and more of a marketing tool and that’s an unfortunate event. I imagine their logic behind closing down Google Reader is to get people to move towards Google+ which hasn’t quite taken off as much as they’d like. Forcing people to follow their favorite blogs and sites via Google+ is a hope that it will somehow at some point become an industry standard I guess but Twitter kinda has the market share here.
But I digress because if I get into Authorship, Google Panda Updates, and axing such great services such as Feedburner and Google Reader I’ll have your ear all damn day.
The moral of this story is before long you’ll have to start exporting your RSS and followings to a new reader. Discussions of Feedly and other readers are on the horizon but courtesy a reader’s tweet today I’d like to direct you to www.theoldreader.com.
It’s early I know, you’re thinking I still have until July to make the change, but please do start shopping a new reader before that time. Google allows you to easily download an archive of your feeds and if you decide to go with Old Reader you can easily import the list (most other reader’s will let you do the same).
I offer my comfort to you while we mourn this great Google feature. It’s unfortunate the Google of yesteryear is more about marketing than the user experience and the small fries.
P.S. Please keep in mind Old Reader is getting hit hard today as are other RSS sites so if importing doesn’t work at first just give it a second as the Internet is chaotic today after the news of Google Reader’s demise hit.
Just a quick note…I had to approve three hundred some odd comments today. I let them get VERY backed up and I don’t see myself replying as quickly as I’d like. So, so sorry! Thank you for talking to me daily. I apologize but Feb was a busy month for me and things got out of hand!
If you asked something important please feel free to repost it.
I’m also VERY behind on e-mail. Thank you for all your messages! I appreciate them more than you’ll ever know! They are food for inspiring me on Musings of a Muse so are your comments!
I just wanted to give you a heads up on the comments as I apologize if I failed to reply, just means I got super busy!
I also wanted to update that all giveaways aside from the Tarina one are closed now and winners have been alerted. I have three pending prizes (two gift certificates and one nail set) that will be mailed out later this week and I’ll be all wrapped up on that. If you haven’t yet gotten your prize, don’t worry, it’s on the way!
I hope everything is going well in your universe and you’re having a great week so far!
Don’t forget, my Tarina giveaway is still on! If you haven’t entered to win do click over and join up! Good Luck!
We’ll all talk very soon I’m sure.
Feel free to use this post as an open forum and let me know what’s new for you!
