Musings of the Day: Favorite Eye Cream

fav+eyecream

I’m actually asking this question for my own personal gain as I’m curious what the HG of all eye creams really is! I’ve searched high and low for a good eye cream and have yet to really find my holy grail eye cream.

Jump ahead to read which ones I’ve tried that I do like…

I’m about to start rounding up eye creams and start testing driving a few of ‘em for Musings and do a full on article about my findings so I’m pretty curious what everyone’s favs are!

For me, La Mer The Eye Concentrate is without a doubt the best eye cream I’ve ever had the privy of touching with my greedy little hands. I’ve only briefly tried small samples but I seen results almost instantly in those times I tried it. Sadly, I seriously can’t afford the price. I’d totally buy it if it was bigger but for such a small size I can’t really think about spending that much icon sad

Sniffle.

I also really like DERMAdoctor Wrinkle Revenge Cream which works quite well but isn’t really as moisturizing as I’d like sadly. And finally I’m a fond fan of Dr. Denese HydroShield Ultra Moisturizing Eye Serum.

Aside from these I haven’t really found anything else that I really absolutely adore….so I’ll be diving more fully into eye creams over the next few weeks to see what works well, what doesn’t work, and what could be HG material!

How about you?

What are your favs?

Musings of the Day: Economy Beauty Woes

The Muse was wondering how is the current economy influencing your beauty purchases?

musings

Are you cutting back on your normal hauls? Saving more?

I’m very, very anal about setting budget goals for just about everything in my life. I plan cosmetic releases (and non cosmetic things) down to the last penny but occasionally I do go over budgets that I set for myself but it’s quite rare. I think present economic situation has definitely influenced my purchasing as I’m not so quick to jump on board purchasing every single shade of aqua eyeshadow put out. I’m a tad bit more conscious of asking myself do I really need this or do I have two dozen of the same thing at home? I’m also pretty tame with my MAC hauling late. I honestly don’t think this has too much to do with the economy so much as it has to do with scaling back some as sometimes I do realize that I have a bit TOO much stuff hanging around!

How about you?

Musings of the Day: Spring Release Info

musings

I think a majority of the major cosmetic brands on the market have released info on their Spring Collections. Hells, most of them are selling it online and at counters for weeks now.

But which brands haven’t you heard from and are eager to hear from about their Spring Collections?

Join me to Muse about what collections you’re excited to hear about!

This was a no brainer for me. I’ve explored pretty much all the Spring Collections so far aside from the Japanese brands that haven’t released quite yet. However, one brand has not uttered a peep about anything Spring-like as of yet.

Bare Escentuals/Bare Minerals.

I do look forward to seeing what Bare Escentuals has in store for us. I’m a constant ranter about their kits but I’m also a fond lover and fan and always look forward to what they are up to next! Aside from a few Buxom Lip kits I haven’t seen anything new pop up yet and I’m quite excited to see what they put on the table if anything.

How about you? What brand have you been patiently waiting on to release their Spring Collection?

Musings of the Day: To Cheap or Not To Cheap

musingsoftheday

So here it is….that scary question of whether you prefer cheaping it out with drugstore cosmetics and finding golden nuggets among epic fails or are you a counter girl who prefers high end to low end?

The Muse happens to be a counter girl and rarely ventures far from it. She’s all about high end skincare, haircare, and cosmetics. Sadly, it’s very rare I find drugstore products that work. If I think about it I can probably shell out $50 or more dollars before finding a single item at my local drugstore that works. For that I might as well just head to my local Sephora and pick up the item that I know will get the job done and not having to go through a dozen or more products I can’t test or return at a drugstore!

I’m not dissing on lower end cosmetics nor am I saying higher end are easy to afford but I just personally feel like about 85% of drugstore cosmetics, skincare, and haircare are simply rubbish in my humblest opinion and I’d rather spend the extra $ on a counter brand. For example I can probably get a quad from say L’Oreal at my local drugstore for around $8.99 or less….chances are it’s not a great formula, doesn’t blend well, and isn’t really all that pigmented. I might as well just throw in the extra $5 bucks or so and snag a single pigmented eyeshadow from MAC and be all the happier for it!

This isn’t to say all drugstore brands are bad because I’m found a few gems here and there myself.

So the Muse is in the “not to cheap” category.

How about you?

Love your drugstore cosmetics?

Can’t get enough of the higher end counter brands?
